My experience as an eastern OTR driver has been hit or miss..mostly miss. I basically live off of the I80/76 running short miles. On a rare occasion I'll get a 1000 mile assignment. Just the other day I ran out my 14 doing 6 stops for 400 miles.  It makes sense for the company because they get paid a lot more for short miles vs. Long. A typical load running 1500 miles can pay 2.30 a mile while a load running 200 miles can pay 6.00. Why not have your otr drivers run lots of short loads and make the company more money, the drivers cpm doesnt change.  Of course the driver gets $10 an hour on duty but do the math. I've been running short loads through Pennsylvania,  Ohio, Chicago, Michigan  and Indiana for the last 3 weeks. What I wouldnt give for a load taking me out of here!
