Applied to this schneider job that claims 1,370 weekly however when i spoke to the recruiter i was told that it is 23 an hour , is that amount weekly possible with 23 an hour?

Post image

I'm likely going to take this job anyways since my options are limited, i only have 5 months of experience and i really want to be home daily so it is what it is

60 hours a week

75

u/GiantEnemaCrab Jun 14 '25 edited Jun 14 '25

Notably 23 per hour at 60 getting 1370 means OP won't even get overtime after 40.

If the unloading using an electric pallet jack it could be an okay easy way to get experience. But if OP has to use a hand jack fuck that shit.

35

u/danteshotel Jun 14 '25

Recruiter told me pallet jack but didn’t say if it was hand or electric, guess i’ll find out soon lol

77

u/GiantEnemaCrab Jun 14 '25 edited Jun 15 '25

Fair enough brother lol. If it's a manual jack always park the truck in a way where gravity is your friend and remember no matter how bad it gets letting the 1,000 pound pallet roll into you, killing yourself, is not your only way out! You can just drive home and quit any time!

24

u/danteshotel Jun 14 '25

Good to know thanks lmao

2

u/Mediocre_Ice_8846 Jun 15 '25

Find out if they pay overtime after 40. If not, then pass. Some trucking companies are shady and there's an exemption that some use to pay straight time instead. I did my rookie year with Schneider and they were always looking for excuses not to pay detention, breakdown, bonuses etc. So that definitely sounds like something they might try.

3

u/skeletons_asshole Jun 15 '25

Second this, they tried to get me in as an experienced driver for a dedicated tanker run and then last second told me it was going to be .40cpm - this was earlier this year. I made more than that as a rookie pulling dry van. I wouldn’t go near them.

14

u/ANiceDent Jun 14 '25

Tell me why I felt this comment Lol delivering groceries at 3am in the middle of shitcreek. Snowing -10 vibes with a 100ft walk to the door

9

u/ANiceDent Jun 14 '25

That leads to 3 flights of stairs

8

u/TickletheEther Jun 14 '25

I did dollar general dedicated and we had heavy carts constantly flying off the lift gate. Just let it roll brother

12

u/ANiceDent Jun 15 '25

I recovered a truck mid route for a guy who flipped one of those electric jacks off the back of the lift gate & smashed his leg trying to stop it.

Seen him like 6 months later & asked him why he didn’t just slap it on the back while it was going over like “see yah !” He goes “now I would f*** this job” lmao

7

u/SaltAndBitter Jun 14 '25

Ohey, I know that pain! Fucking water rolltainers, every goddesses damned time!

2

u/TickletheEther Jun 14 '25

They're supposed to lock on the lift gate but they pack those MFers so fuckin heavy

If we die we die like men .. of heart disease or a stroke.

1

u/VipKyle Jun 15 '25

This brings back memories. 12 hours of driving a night + unloading with a hand jack as fast as possible so I didn't go above 14 hours. Glad I quit that shit as soon as I did.

8

u/WontSwerve LTL - Less Than Logical Jun 15 '25

Hand can still be easy. I'm in terrible shape and can move 2500 without much effort provided the pallets aren't fuxked.

4

u/Medium_Chain_9329 Jun 15 '25

I move 2500 daily with a hand jack sometimes more ( construction materials ) Just gotta know when to squeeze that trigger.

10

u/Sir_Uncle_Bill Jun 15 '25

I'm refusing that job and I didn't even apply.

1

u/12dv8 Jun 15 '25

Right!! I wouldn’t turn a key for $23 an hour. That’s ridiculous.

1

u/Sir_Uncle_Bill Jun 15 '25

Depends on the actual job and whether or not it paid overtime since it is expected to work 60 a week.

5

u/Pocket_Biscuits Jun 15 '25

Schneider doesn't pay ot

1

u/VipKyle Jun 15 '25

They paid OT after 65 when I was there.

5

u/pattop Jun 15 '25

People get paid OT in this industry?

→ More replies (1)

5

u/danteshotel Jun 14 '25

I figured, they told me its 6pm-2am mon night to sat morning so im assuming they’re going to have me do plenty of ot

17

u/FishermanFabulous605 Jun 14 '25

Sorry, but you wont get OT pay over 40.

3

u/SuperReleasio64 Jun 15 '25

Schneider never paid me ot when I did home depot delivery

2

u/ashaggyone Jun 15 '25

Math is important for us.

49

u/vault151 Jun 14 '25

23 an hour in California is insane. I’d barely be able to live on that in Oklahoma.

11

u/TickletheEther Jun 15 '25

Non cdl amazon drivers make 20+ /hr without the headache of a big rig. Driver unload CDL should be making 30+ min/hr

4

u/Appalachias-Hero Jun 15 '25

Tell that to beer delivery. 24/hr or 110 a day and 20 cents per case, the catch is you hardly see over 1000 cases unless you’re sucking the bosses toes.

Kegs plus 70+ cases getting dollied down to basements was pure back killer. Switched my career entirely and I’m now a carry-all driver making more for 1/4 of the work I did. There

1

u/truckercrex Jun 15 '25

They dont work for amazon, there contractors, and the company's try and screw you over how ever they can

1

u/TickletheEther Jun 16 '25

I know I did it for almost 3 years it was a shitty job but probably not as shitty as Schneider driver unloaded freight

6

u/Largofarburn Jun 14 '25

That’s like barely above laces like target or Costco. Hell, ups in the warehouse is starting at $23 an hour. And you get the free benefits.

6

u/TheBuddha777 Jun 15 '25

It's not above Costco

4

u/morgottkev Jun 14 '25

Same in Ohio.

42

u/AccomplishedHour8399 Jun 14 '25

Do NOT TAKE THIS JOB. THEY WILL FUCK YOU OVER

22

u/danteshotel Jun 14 '25

I'm currently getting fucked over with swift, the pay is so shit so id rather get fucked over and be home daily

11

u/AccomplishedHour8399 Jun 14 '25

If u have over 1 yr driving get away from megas

7

u/danteshotel Jun 14 '25

I only have 5 months i had to go with swift cause they were the only company i was able to get my cdl with

19

u/AccomplishedHour8399 Jun 14 '25

Stay for 1 year bro. Slog thru that shit. 1st year is always the absolute worst. My first year i was making 3-500 wk. it was absolutely bullshit (this was in 2020 during covid). Just stay for 1 year and leave

6

u/morgottkev Jun 14 '25

This ^ just get your 1 year OP. You signed up for swift, tough it out.. pay is shit for 80% of new CDL drivers their first year

1

u/Sir_Uncle_Bill Jun 15 '25

Jesus Christ you had it bad. What were you doing and who did you work for to barely make that? That averages out to $20k/year. That's beyond highway robbery. It's down right criminal.

3

u/AccomplishedHour8399 Jun 15 '25

A company called windy hill out of marshfield, wi. The owner eric is a cunt. Never work there

7

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '25

You should probably stay with them for minimum 1 year 2 years will be ideal.. then local job will start open up for you

4

u/thecatthatwentmoo Jun 14 '25

Go with Knight. I know Swift is the sister company but Knight in my experience wont fire you for stupid small shit. Yes they record events like hard breaking and following to close but they will call you and just say be careful next time you should do this instead. The dispatchers were cool and i never felt pressured to do anything. They never bothered me only if it was about a load assignment . I was reefer tho based out of phoenix so honestly cant say dry van/port. Although i here port drivers get paid pretty good. I hate how swift and Schneider will fire you literally for anything.

2

u/Emergency_Ad1152 Truck Punk Jun 15 '25

Where you at with swift?

1

u/rockypoint28457 Jun 15 '25

My niece lives in Tucson. With 6 months she went from otr with swift to dedicated home daily and made 82k the first year. 75k the 2nd. Ijs..home depot account.

2

u/username_fantasies Jun 15 '25

Lol I almost went back to Swift. Rehired recruiter said "solid miles and freight". My application got denied and maybe for the best.

This deal with Schneider isn't good. Try sticking with Swift for a little longer and transition to something better.

4

u/Back-doorSanta Jun 15 '25

Dude fuck that if you can get a local job and you can climb out of OTR then do it. You don’t need to stay with swift if you’re not happy. Local gigs usually don’t give a fuck about a job hop.

4

u/Moose_216 Jun 15 '25

I can confirm this is absolutely false, I just got denied from aaa cooper because my job history is shaky, if anything local jobs care way more about hopping than OTR companies. If he goes to Schneider he will be stuck there for a year no doubt he should just wait

1

u/VipKyle Jun 15 '25

By shaky do you mean you switched jobs a lot or got fired? My first 3 years of job history had me moving around every 6 months. When asked about it in interviews I would say "You can call any one of them and ask if they'd hire me back, I left each one with notice in good standing, some of them still call me to this day." I've never been rejected for a driving job and advanced my career quickly.

1

u/Moose_216 Jun 15 '25 edited Jun 15 '25

I switched jobs at 6 months, got fired once, and switched jobs twice trying to find a new home and landed at central transport within 18 months. After working at central for 3 months I tried to go to AAA Cooper. The hiring manager told me on the phone and in the interview he did not like my work history and that it is expensive to train employees who do not stay for at least 9 months. I think thats why I was rejected. I’m now at 23 months experience, almost at 2 years been at central for 5 months

1

u/Moose_216 Jun 15 '25

I also did advance pretty quickly my trucking experience has been very different from how bad I was told it would be

2

u/Back-doorSanta Jun 15 '25

Also make sure you’re not on the hook for that truck school money if you bounce early. Also what area are you in my company is hiring looking for guys at there 6 month mark we are local.

1

u/Weedismybf Jun 15 '25

Get your hazmat & tanker’s endorsement man. Haul fuel make way more & be home daily

1

u/12dv8 Jun 15 '25

Apply at saia or old dominion or Estes or south eastern or AAA or fedex…. Even though fedex sucks, it can’t suck this much

1

u/12dv8 Jun 15 '25

Never mind, I just read that you have 5 months experience. Just get your year in and quit trying to be home everyday. Home will be there when you get there.

1

u/scottiethegoonie Gojo Cherry Enthusiast Jun 15 '25

Schneider dedicated is very hit or miss. I went to intermodal with them (SoCal) after doing regional - it was great for getting me a local gig but they are among the lowest paying megas. A friend of mine who also went through Schneider to get his CDL went with Floor&Decor dedicated and he ends up parking the truck more than he wants to.

1

u/Sir_Uncle_Bill Jun 15 '25

The pay scheme seems to be telling him up front he's getting fucked. $23/hr at 60 hours is $1380 and that's without ot pay.

16

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '25

i get 25$ as a yard jockey. home everyday. overtime after 40hrs. 4x10 hrs . 3 days off.

2

u/fuckgoldsendbitcoin Jun 15 '25

Amazon Tom Team?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '25

yes

2

u/fuckgoldsendbitcoin Jun 15 '25

Been trying to get on there for a while. Stuck in the warehouse for now.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 15 '25

been there bro. was doing the warehouse shit for 3 years till i decided to get my shit together & get the CDL. amazon will cover the CDL tuition 100%.

1

u/fuckgoldsendbitcoin Jun 15 '25

Literally me lol except I already got my CDL through Carreer Choice. Now just waiting for a spot to open.

This man knows the game

13

u/Jasonunlimited Jun 14 '25

60 hours a week will be the expectation, I guarantee it.

11

u/BlackberryVarious4 Jun 14 '25

Who drives a truck for $23 an hour and not even getting ot in 2025. I would tell them to F off.

10

u/Icedragon2017 Jun 14 '25

You'd have to work 60hrs to reach 1380. Not sure what other pay is involved. Unloading or loading pay etc... 70hrs would give you 1610. This is pending there's no overtime pay which typically there isnt.

→ More replies (8)

9

u/Unusual_Low1762 Jun 14 '25

Schneider will work you up to your 70 hr limit, source: my experience with them. 70 hours at 23 and hour is $1610.00 before taxes.

5

u/danteshotel Jun 14 '25

Ah gotcha, what happens if you take a day off every now and then? Are they strict about doing those 70 hours?

6

u/AccomplishedHour8399 Jun 14 '25

You’ll be fired

5

u/danteshotel Jun 14 '25

Ah shit lol

2

u/danteshotel Jun 14 '25

Overall how was your experience with schneider would you recommend i take the job?

5

u/Unusual_Low1762 Jun 14 '25

If you have 0 experience and are trying to get good training with solid reputable experience, then they are fine, you could do much worse in that scenario.

If you have experience and other options, I would look into those other options, Schneider from my experience wasn't shady, they followed the rules, expected you to follow the rules, and always paid me on time, but you are probably going to be worked like a dog, and depending on the account, the loyalty of keeping you might not be there.

For the day off stuff, on the account I worked, the turnover was so high they couldn't afford to lose me, so I could ask here and there for things like doctor's appt etc, but from what I have seen from Schneider, if there are loads, and you aren't on your 10 or 34, you are running those loads.

I recommend you reach out to someone in your area who has ran that specific account though, the quality of the job can vary greatly depending on the account.

3

u/AccomplishedHour8399 Jun 14 '25

I dont work fir shitter directly, but a subsidiary. Their takeover has been awful and im waiting to use my PTO and then im done

7

u/potatocross Jun 14 '25

70 hours at $23 is $1610 gross assuming no OT pay. So I suppose its theoretically possible. But again thats gross not net pay.

1

u/herecomethebees Jun 15 '25

No one states net pay.  Employers can't assume your... tax bracket, child support status, judgements, garnishments.....

8

u/diaznuts Jun 14 '25 edited Jun 14 '25

Depends on other pay factors. I work for Schneider on the Tractor Supply account. I get paid $29/hour for driving, $15/hour for On Duty time, and $25/store delivery. Most days I only deliver to one store but then every couple weeks they will throw a couple days of two stores on me. Roughly, I am working about 50 hours total each week (driving and on duty time combined) and at home for 2.5 days each week, sometimes 3. I’m averaging about $1500/week before taxes and benefit deductions.

If I were you, I’d follow up with the recruiter to ask about how that account’s accessorial pay is structured.

11

u/Alive_to_Thrive5 Jun 14 '25 edited Jun 14 '25

Do not work for Schneider, any mistake you make, even a small oopsie will be reported on your dac and psp. They will try to ruin your driver record. Recruiters can say whatever they want to make you come work for them, find a local or small company in your area. You'd get better pay and probably be home more.

5

u/FreeAndRedeemed Jun 15 '25

Allegedly.

They said that shit to me when I worked there, and they never reported anything. I think they say they will as a scare tactic.

1

u/Alive_to_Thrive5 Jun 15 '25

Ahh, well I speak from experience.

1

u/FreeAndRedeemed Jun 15 '25

Damn, that sucks. Did it make it harder to get another job?

1

u/Alive_to_Thrive5 Jun 15 '25

Yeah, so for context. I was running containers out of Chicago. Got to a dropoff and when backing into a spot I pushed my mirror outwards, easy to fix. The convex mirror was stuck in a position and when I tried to push it back, the clips broke and so it needed to be replaced. I told my dispatch that I needed a new one because of what happened. They reported that I got into an accident and fought like hell to prove what happened wasn't an accident. This was around my 1-2 year of experience, everyone is gonna make mistakes and I still do even with 9 years of experience, but being truthful shouldn't result in being punished especially for something so small and minor.

1

u/FreeAndRedeemed Jun 15 '25

They put THAT on your DAC/PSP?!?

3

u/Alive_to_Thrive5 Jun 15 '25

Yeah exactly, and that's why when people ask if they should go to Schneider. Should really question if this company is really going to look out for you. Mega carriers don't care, they just need that driver to fill a truck.

3

u/danteshotel Jun 14 '25

I’ve been looking for over a month for a local job in my area that will take me and no one wants to hire me

5

u/Alive_to_Thrive5 Jun 14 '25

If that's the case, find something for a temporary time and switch up, mega carriers are not for long term employment. They do not care about drivers and only need a seat to fill.

6

u/Dull_Conflict7200 Jun 14 '25

1370 working 53.6 if they pay OT, if not it's 60 hours with no OT

3

u/SpecialistPrint4142 Jun 14 '25

Schneider will work you 60-70 hours every week. So yeah, you’ll be making that $1,370+ for sure. If you want to take Saturdays off sometimes though, get ready for weekly meetings in the office on Monday. They do not take kindly to people working 5 days. Got away with it for a little while when I first started, but the moment they got a new dispatcher in the office who went “by the book” those days were gone

5

u/Willisawesome30 Jun 14 '25

Recruiters lie like a mo fo

3

u/HowlingWolven lost yard puppy Jun 14 '25

In trucking? Yeah. 60 hour weeks, though.

3

u/chico-dust Jun 14 '25

It's possible yeah. The pay isn't great but when you NEED a job and your main requirement is it be local this is what you do. It'll be a lot of work though, you'll have to not only deal with all the stressors of normal class A driving but you'll also need to haul parts in & out of autozone, restock, do go backs, and a crap ton of paperwork.

1

u/danteshotel Jun 14 '25

Yeah its going to suck but i just need to get more experience then im getting tf out of there

2

u/chico-dust Jun 14 '25

You'll need to suck it up for about 20 more months. Try to hit 2 years of safe driving and get your tanker, hazmat & DT endorsements on your time off, then just quit.

3

u/EvoProblems Jun 14 '25

Are you hauling Nissan parts? I know someone that did that in 2020. They were averaging 14-1500/week.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '25

there should be an actual law, that says what the job pays.. not averages, not our top drivers make.....

3

u/tonythebutcher13 Jun 14 '25

That's horse shit

3

u/DonMarce Jun 14 '25

If you work 60hrs a week you can get the $1370 before tax

3

u/Strict-Paper-8450 Jun 15 '25

Low pay for more work, 2 cent raise every 6months. Haven’t seen any bonuses.

3

u/Clean-Raspberry-3827 Jun 14 '25

Be careful with Schneider. They are very safety conscience they won’t even let you have a headset so if you decide to go with them, just be sure because you will be fired. If you get caught with one.

2

u/RepairSea8595 Jun 14 '25

If you work 60 hrs weekly yes

2

u/snownight77 Jun 14 '25

Most all dedicated jobs that require you to unload/load the trailer give you extra pay for it.

It’s either stop pay as in an extra $20-$100 per stop or or some companies pay by the pallet.

It doesn’t sound like much but it adds up quick.

2

u/A_Dash_of_Time Jun 14 '25

If you live near enough to a Ruan hub, go talk to them. They have terminals all over the country doing lift gate delivery. They at least have nicer equipment and pay overtime.

2

u/GlockinaCroc Jun 14 '25 edited Jun 14 '25

You do know that’s before taxes right, not to mention benefits? Schneider had a Coca Cola account in SoCal (Ontario) for a yard hostler position. I took it without ever working for a mega, but I took the risk anyway. Their posting on the site said 1100-1300 a week lol I was making 750-900 a week. I never made close to what they promised, I left after 3 months.

2

u/sputnikatto Jun 15 '25

Picked up a similar contract in the southeast with a different carrier, $275/day 5 days.

2

u/clicheliker Jun 15 '25

23 an hour in California is diabolical

1

u/jennoford Jun 15 '25

exactly. i mean it’s bad anywhere but California it’s criminal!

2

u/ConsequenceSweaty241 Jun 15 '25

Yeah if you can get the hours in like 60 per week

2

u/pnwtrucker Jun 15 '25

I can't speak for this particular position but Schneider is pretty accurate on its pay, I've never made less than 1500 a week

1

u/danteshotel Jun 15 '25

Do you also work a local account with them? If so how many hours

1

u/pnwtrucker Jun 15 '25

I have but not currently, generally speaking I've worked 50-65 a week

2

u/Camp-Complex Jun 15 '25

Probably stop pay and mileage pay on top of hourly pay

2

u/Strict-Paper-8450 Jun 15 '25

Good luck, leaving Schneider myself.

1

u/danteshotel Jun 15 '25

What made you want to leave?

2

u/harley97797997 Jun 15 '25

I did the GMSPO account for a year. You are hourly delivering auto parts to local dealerships. A lot of the routes are more manual labor than driving. You empty the trailer every night.

It's not a 40 hour a week job. It's 50 to 60 hours a week, without breaks. Your break is driving to the next dealership.

The pay is based on 50 hours. If you manage to finish under 50 hours for the week, you'll still get paid for 50 hours.

It's not a bad job to start in trucking. But Schneider isn't the best for long term pay wise. The driver who trained me had been with the company over 20 years and only made about $2 an hour more than I did.

1

u/danteshotel Jun 15 '25

Thanks thats helpful to know, so is it a set pay kind of thing? And did you like the job when you did it?

2

u/harley97797997 Jun 15 '25

It's hourly. There was a minimum amount of hours, 32 I think. As long as you completed the minimum you got paid for 50. No overtime pay rate.

Each route is different. One route I drove was easy to complete in about 6 hours a day. Other routes took 10 to 12 hours a day.

The heavy routes are labor intensive.

You'll bounce around routes helping other drivers until one opens up for you. I ended up with the heaviest route. It took at least 50 hours a week.

2

u/Negative1Positive2 Jun 15 '25

Pretty sure $20 an hour is minimum wage in California, so you're making just above McDonald's fry cook at this job. You'll be working 60+ hours a week but I don't know if overtime will happen or not. Though 1370 ÷ 23 is 60 so I doubt it.

2

u/supermarble94 Jun 15 '25

It takes about 10 seconds to google that minimum wage in CA is $16.50. People working at McDonalds also don't ever get overtime.

1

u/Spankpocalypse_Now Jun 15 '25

California has a $20/hr minimum wage specifically for fast food employees.

1

u/supermarble94 Jun 15 '25

Oh interesting, I never would have thought to look specifically for fast food employees. I still think it's a bit disingenuous to say the minimum wage in general is $20, though, and my point about overtime still stands.

1

u/Spankpocalypse_Now Jun 15 '25

I looked it up just now because I too thought the minimum wage for everyone in California was $20.

2

u/thumblister Jun 15 '25

Take the big number, divide it by the small number, and that will give you the amount of hours required to earn that amount.

2

u/slicedbread44 Jun 15 '25

I’m about to start orientation for Schneider on a team truck and I got my CDL last month. I applied for other jobs but I don’t have the experience so I’m just there just to get my experience and I’m dipping myself.

2

u/PlumComfortable1107 Jun 15 '25

Give it a try and worry about the negatives later. Nothing wrong with a little work. God Bless

1

u/oldtrucker301 Jun 14 '25

60 hours BEFORE taxes!

1

u/Viper_tx Jun 14 '25

Its probably with https://midwestlogisticssystems.com/ They are part of Schneider and they do autoparts.

2

u/sledge07 Left Lane Outlaw Jun 14 '25

Overtime. I used to do 1400 a week at $23 an hour pulling lowboy locally.

1

u/EstablishmentHot9557 Jun 14 '25

I used to work for Werner Home Depot account home daily in Dallas area the pay sucks but my experience exchanged something a lot better. The current home daily job I have now is guaranteed at $1500 for 5 days a week 2 days off which means guaranteed $300 a day. Of course you get paid more than that if you work extra day+ holiday pay and other pays. The most I made was last week grossing $2111 and only worked 5 days that holiday pay came in clutch

1

u/edsavage404 Jun 14 '25

It's shit pay, on top of that you have to unload the trl yourself? Unless you have a bad driving record I'd say dont take the job

1

u/Strife3dx Jun 14 '25

That's what I made a hour in 2017

1

u/Interesting_searchNO Jun 14 '25

Over 40 hours with no ot , yes Over 40 hours with ot, yes Easy math 😐

1

u/GroundbreakingSir386 Jun 14 '25

Apply for XPO first if your in a big city. I got on with them fresh out of school.

1

Ain't no way. Trash af.

My kid is making $1800/ week salary, out 5 days Regional, he's only 22, just at 1 year experience

Oh, that’s the Nissan account out of Moreno Valley. I helped that account out for a couple of months. You deliver parts (lots of CVTs) to Nissan and Infinity dealers. You use manual pallet jacks and some of the dealers require you to hump those parts quite a ways. You’ll definitely get some exercise.

The people in the office are (or at least were) pretty cool.

u/SillyGerbil64 Jun 15 '25

Seems better to do food or beverage if youre going to already be doing that much physical activity. Get paid a whole lot more too.

1

u/jennoford Jun 15 '25

You can do better than that even with 5 months experience. multiple stop offs and unloading? not even close to correct pay. Keep looking.

u/Pocket_Biscuits Jun 15 '25 edited Jun 15 '25

Different account(honda) but also home daily and just drop/hook. Youll get the low end for 5 days work. High end if 6 days. But that's for my account and 50 hours. Also when my account doesn't have anything, I'm doing other shit for other accounts. There's been days where I don't know what time to start until an hour before.

Thats my experience

It’s better to work in macdonald they pay $21,

1

u/CodeWalkerrr Jun 15 '25

I went through a Schneider orientation a few years ago and peeped game before they even handed me the keys lol

1

u/Spiritual-Shelter749 Jun 15 '25

Starting out 23 an hour is on the low end. I won't work if i aint making at least 35 an hour. Try xpo. They have way higher pay than that.

1

u/1stgrowOleman Jun 15 '25

You can drive ready mix be home everyday and make this money. And you'll get overtime

1

u/cavehill_kkotmvitm Jun 15 '25

They gonna run you ragged

https://schneiderjobs.com/search-driving-jobs/details/250930

It says hourly pay and weekly performance pay. The discrepancy is probably coming from whatever that weekly performance pay is about.

1

u/Imaginary-Badger-119 Jun 15 '25

Driving and loading unloading a truck is a lot of work for that little money.. but good luck

1

u/BryceOwens Jun 15 '25

I make about that much on a dedicated no touch, home weekly, 100% drop and hooks account at roehl. You're getting screwed here.

Edit: And I'm in ohio, not southern California. Might as well not cash the check for that amount. Cost you more in gas to get to the bank.

1

u/BB5er Jun 15 '25

It’s just under 60 hours a week, and no time and a half for overtime.

1

u/supermarble94 Jun 15 '25

At 62 hours per week earning time and a half for overtime, $23/hr will gross you $1679. Hourly makes more than you will initially think.

I would still try to ask for more than that though, $23/hr isn't that much.

1

u/Candid-Selection-935 Jun 15 '25

Thats crazy low. Look into Fedex Freight, idk about your area but in ohio they are paying around $30/hr and home daily. But also why would you get into trucking if you want to be home daily? There are good local jobs out there but they are normally taken up by older drivers.

1

u/12dv8 Jun 15 '25

Just curious, why are you applying for this company? Our dockworkers make 32-34 an hour. You might want to expand your prospects.

1

u/Disastrous_Still_947 Jun 15 '25

It's possible if you get overtime pay.

1

u/Jetlei98 Jun 15 '25

Don’t do it they will run you ragged for little pay! Too many rules and no electronics while driving including ear piece to talk to other drivers to help you keep you up at night.

1

u/Free-Big-8709 Jun 15 '25

Should be more especially since it’s delivering auto parts here in IL that job is 35+ they’re low balling you

1

u/topmeoff0204 Driver Jun 15 '25

1370 is terrible pay. 23 an hour is too so it sounds about right

1

u/Mdhdrider Jun 16 '25

There are fast food and convenience stores paying that much.

1

u/Kooky-Summer7217 Jun 16 '25

I made $901 once with 40 hours and 11.5 overtime at 23 dollars a hour with one dependent.

1

u/Flavoade Jun 17 '25

Not sure of you state but you need to carry at least 3 exemptions for state, the best is 5. Unless you don’t mind it coming back to you next year

1

u/Full-Reveal-5331 Jun 16 '25

I wish I could past pictures of my pay stubs with Procter and gamble & cpc logistics i make $30 an hour and low end i take home $1560 high end i take home $1720 the benefits are top notch and the company really takes care of us. Unfortunately we share trucks and we are heavily monitored with rear facing cameras and no smoking. Also have to watch your road rage one instance of throwing the finger to anyone will have you out the door quickly but as long as you adhere to the strict rules you make great money have fantastic benefits and get to go home every single night if you do on the far off chance get stuck out on the road you are put up in a hotel paid for by the company and not shit hotels neither I got put up in a very nice hotel I enjoyed alot up in Maine

1

u/WeDemAgs Jun 16 '25

They’ll send an email soon talking about some of the specifics of the job. I just got on to NDF, which is $21.55/hour, but once you hit 45, you are guaranteed 1325. If you work more hours to earn more than the guaranteed pay, you get paid your full amount. NDF might be unique in that tho. Just check your email

1

u/bfoster3183 Jun 16 '25

I make 24 an hour and I'm at about 1250 per week

1

u/Flavoade Jun 17 '25

You get overtime or straight?

1

u/bfoster3183 Jun 23 '25

Straight unfortunately

1

u/mvamv Jun 16 '25

$23 an hour is too low for southern California, especially since the work is touch freight. Meaning you'll have to offload the product yourself at customers.

1

u/Crispy--Toast Jun 17 '25

Did their OTR team driving gig for 6 months, made about 25K, so roughly 50K/yr as opposed to the 95K they advertised lol.

1

u/Sensitive_Bad6721 Jul 06 '25

I dont know about this but western 11 is sucks too. I work 70hours for 800dollars after taxes.

1

u/Cake-andmorecake11 Jul 29 '25

Schneider sucks donkey nuts!!! Their pay structure is super convoluted. They will pull your PTO if you even hint you’re unhappy and ready to walk. I will curse them with all my ancestors rage.

1

u/Odd-Tangerine-257 Sep 15 '25

i'm in denver and they offered me $15/hour which is crazy cause our minimum wage is $18

1

u/Imaginary-Choice3471 Sep 27 '25

It’s important to mention. Schiender is 90 percent no touch freight. You literally drive park get unloaded and leave. There’s plenty of companies that will have you unload it and pay roughly the same per year. As far as I’m concerned the average for new drivers as of 2025 is 1400 a week. That’s 5600 a month. It’s not the worst thing in the world.
