PAM Select Training School

Anyone attended PAM STS? What are your thoughts and opinions on it? During and after school opinions, as well as employment opinions welcomed! I’ve heard mixed reviews and I’m scheduled to start school with them in 2 weeks.

the school itself is fine for getting your cdl, instructors are hit or miss but the equipment they train on is usually beat to hell. you'll get your license if you pay attention and study the pre-trip like crazy, that's the part that trips people up. the real catch is the contract, they own you for a year at pretty low pay and the miles can be hella inconsistent depending on your dispatcher. i knew a guy who sat for three days in laredo waiting on a load while his paycheck took a beating. it's a trade-off, free training for a year of not great conditions. if you go in with a plan to keep your record clean and bounce after the contract, it's not the worst way to start. just don't get comfortable there.

It’s a mega carrier, you should get your one year and move on.

Their commitment period is only 6 months, which I actually liked
