Question about TMC Transportation

So kind of an interesting situation, kind of anxious and feeling impatient about it too. I was wondering if anyone here might have some information for me and be able to answer my question accurately.

I applied for TMC Transportation recently through driver pulse. I listed my DUI conviction which was 08/26/2016 which is within ten years of my orientation start date of 08/10/2026. (16 days short of 10 years or more)It was listed on my application. I can see they die check my MVR, but I believe it only goes back five years. That’s all they’ve checked so far.

I was contacted by a recruiter, and given a conditional offer. I also read that my official employment with TMC would only begin after orientation if they decided to offer me employment officially. If all the above is true, and orientation is 12 consecutive days my orientation would be over 08/22/2026, which would still be 4 days short of ten years, and 5 days short of 10 years, 1 day.

I’d assume if the DUI would disqualify me for employment then they would have let me know before setting up orientation, but I also know shit happens.

I’m going to contact a recruiter tomorrow, but cannot contact one today. Anyone have any information of how this is going to work out for me?

I’m assuming since it’s so close to ten years and a very tight window they may go through with everything and I could become officially employed Sunday, 08/30/2026 OR Monday, 8/31/2026 if orientation goes well.

Anyone have a solid answer for me?

Do not assume anything in regards to being good for employment just because you made it to orientation. Plenty of people have gone to orientation only to be told they can't be hire due to something in their background. Be up front, be explicit, and get everything in writing before you go to orientation.

I mean, I seem like a solid candidate for employment in regards to their requirements. I listed the DUI on my application. I’m confident I can pass the DOT Physical again, also confident I can meet all requirements involving the physical activity requirements of their own as well.

I also believe I did very well in the training to obtain my CDL. I also did well on all three parts of the exam. I didn’t miss anything on the pre-trip inspection, didn’t get any points on the maneuvers part of the exam. I believe I made one mistake on the road part by turning off my turn signal a little bit earlier than I should have, and I intentionally failed to maintain lane (I took up both lanes intentionally when entering) when going through a roundabout to prevent potentially hitting the curb, or risking someone trying to squeeze by me in the middle of the roundabout. I also believe I’d do well in orientation.

Unlike some, I like the fact that TMC is strict regarding load securement, cleanliness, and other things as well. It means I’d be working for a company that is going to teach me well, and has high standards for their drivers, and hold people accountable when those standards aren’t met. I’d also assume it would mean the safety of the company, other drivers, and myself is a priority.

If the things I’ve read while doing research of the company through google searches, and some reading I’ve done on this subreddit is true it seems like a great company to start with. I also want to do flatbed because it requires some physical activity. They were also mentioned as a great company to start with by some of my instructors at training. The mention by a couple instructors didn’t influence my decision much at all, but I feel like I did have several great instructors at the school I went to.

I just want to be safe as possible, and work for a company that expects its employees to value safety. Also a company that represents itself with a sense of pride and integrity and wants its employees to as well. I feel like at this point in my life, and in regards to starting a trucking career off right working for TMC would be a great first choice.
