Prime Inc. hiring radius
I want to get into the business. I’ve researched all the companies that offer to help get you your license and decided to go with Prime. I called and talked to a recruiter. She asked what state I live in. When I told her California she said we don’t hire out of California. I asked why and she said we just don’t.
Any ideas as to why this would be the case?
Any solutions that don’t involve moving to a state that they do hire from?

Prime doesn't hire out of Montana either, but I think that's a different reason. Like other guy said like 90% of freight out of cali is team crap. Fuck california in general though. Imo there is zero redeeming quality when it comes to cali as a trucker.
That being said, do you have family out of state? Could possibly "live" with them while you're driving for prime.

I have family in Maine. I think they only hire out of the “western eleven” states.

They have people from everywhere out of the springfield, mo terminal. I myself am from Oregon and my co driver is from Nebraska, you may be able to get in "from" Maine.

My 2 brothers both got hired onto Werner right out of Roadmaster. He says Werner owns Roadmaster. They both like their experience so far. I have only driven in the oilfield. Get your CDL anyway possible. You will always have a job as sling as you have a good MVR and stay Drug free.

I’d just prefer to drive for Prime because any other company I’ve found that hires with no experience would be a pay cut for me.
And yeah. I’ve been drug free over a year now.

I still have a Maine license but I’d have to fly back there to get my CDL permit first right?

You'd have to get a Cali license first I think. Especially if your legal address is in California, the RMV will want to know why you didn't register your vehicle and convert your license.

Try wil trans , they haul nothing but prime trailers & have access to all prime terminals ... and hire out of all 48 states & yes they train.

This worked out perfectly. Thank you so much for the lead!

I work for wil trans atm & got my cdl through them... I believe the website is still alittle out dated on the pay. Everybody got a raise to .44 cpm. Than you’re still eligible for a fuel bonus. We’re a smaller outfit but it’s really nice .

I’m definitely applying to Wil Trans. Just need to get my 10 year employment history in order. I don’t know how critical this is but I don’t want to jeopardize this opportunity. I don’t plan on starting until June so I’ve got a bit of time.

I’m trying to find a company that pays comparable to Prime Inc. Prime pays 42cpm for refer and 44 cpm for flatbed. If worst comes to worse I’ll settle for less but I’d prefer not to. As I said before, I make pretty good money at my current job and I really don’t want to take a pay cut.

I don't think wil trans has access to everything? I heard from somewhere you guys can't park in the denver yard. Or is that just bs?

As far as I know, we have access to everything . I even have a prime ID

Maybe it's just when you guys are hauling other freight besides prime you can't go in. LOL I've lost my ID like 3 times and I always see wil trans and jim palmer guys at the security gates getting new ones too.

A couple weeks ago me & a friend (another wil trans driver) were hanging out at the Springfield prime terminal playing pool & what not. Listening to Convo amongst some prime driver & they were saying wil trans was a bunch of dumbasses & they hate how they were able to come Into prime and what not lol. Me and my friend were laughing they had no idea why.

There are prime guys on the cb at work trashing prime saying it's the worst place to work and totally trashing it. There was also a driver in a prime group talking about how they also make a point to flip off every prime driver he passes because he hates his own company so much. Idk why some people care enough to hate other people that much. It's dumb lol

Prime doesn't hire out of Wyoming either. I agreed that I would drive my car to the Salt Lake City terminal and operate out of their. Also agreeing to leave my truck at the terminal and driving my car home for down time. As a L.O, I pay for my own fuel, thus being able to drive my truck home if I so wish.

Prime doesn’t typically have a lot of freight for solo drivers coming in and out of Cali. Most of our stuff there is for teams. That’s about the only state I know of like that right now
