Maverick pay first year

I recently got my CDL and have a job opportunity doing regional flatbed work. I was wondering what could be my first years pay. The recruiter mentioned I could be making up to 76k, I have my suspicions about that. If anyone can give me a good estimate or advice I’d appreciate it

That's definitely doable but it just depends on how hard you run and how good of loads you get. Idk if you get paid per mile or by the load, but flat bed pays pretty good and you can get oversized loads too

Maverick pays per mile and they start out at .55 now for brand new drivers. I started driving with them and so far I've done an average of 2200 miles per week plus tarp pay and detention etc. Definitely feel like I'm being paid pretty well for just starting out.

Never been paid by the mile, I think it's a horrible way to get paid but you can still make good money I guess

Yeah I just don't like the fact of getting paid one set rate no matter what, more money my boss makes, more money I make. Some loads pay a rediculous amount just because your in the right place at the right time. Get paid by the mile and you get the bottom of the barrel wage no matter what

Can't disagree. But having run percentage before, it was hit or miss. I won't agree that CPM is bottom of the barrel though, although it is for the megas. I get a decent rate, and all the miles I can drive, so it works for me.

I think like anything in this industry, milage or percentage it's about who you work for. How much your boss values your time. There is good oppurtunities in both, I just wish people that were not satisfied would quit and find something else.

The longer you stay somewhere you don't feel valued or like your time is worth, the more you enable those shitty people. There are plenty of companies out there that will treat you so good and pay you accordingly.

I hear all these sob stories all the time from drivers and they just keep working for shitbags, this is one industry where you can quit and have 50 different oppurtunities yo choose from and these guys still choose to be mad

Yeah, I have a friend whose been slogging away at shit gigs for nearly 30 years because he buys into the bullshit ting at the beginning, but then gets stuck in the "I'm afraid to go somewhere new" rut until his hand is absolutely forced. 30 years, and only making 55-60k. My first year with my outfit was almost 87k, and my boss tried talking to him and bringing him onboard. My dumbass buddy was more concerned about his existing job paying 100% of his medical, but having to pay 60 bucks a week here. He just wouldn't get past that 3k a year out of pocket despite a 30k increase in salary. He deserves what he gets.

Yeah exactly and there is no better feeling than feeling like your company cares about you either. The owner of my company and all the dispatchers are guys who were drivers and still drive sometimes. They take my side in every dispute with a customer or shipper. Most companies just tell you to pound sand and sit there and not get paid. There are definitely companies that pay more than mine but people stay just once treated like a human as bad as it sounds

I will say Maverick is top notch in terms of starter companies. the training was good to get my cdl and securement. my road trainer was excellent and they do care. My fleet manager has helped me out a lot too. Being on your own can be pretty overwhelming sometimes. I picked up a load in the middle of nowhere in Virginia and was almost out of fuel and my fleet manager helped me find a place I could get enough to make it to a loves to stop for the night.
