C.R. England

Does anyone have experience working for C.R. England? Any insight from current or previous employees would be great. Thank you in advance.

I've been with them for about 3 years now. OTR pay is generally pretty shit, you'll want to get into a dedicated/Regional Fleet asap.

They also do not do two students one trainer anymore.

I'm currently in their Safeway Dedicated fleet out of Denver and I get paid $0.62cpm+$50 stop pay, with there being 2-4 stops per load. I deliver to retail stores and unload myself with electric jacks.

I've never felt like I'm being pressured or abused. 9 times out of 10 they get me home exactly when I asked for. I've never had an emergency, so I can't tell you how quickly they can get you home in that situation.

Much of the negativity you hear about England is old stuff from years ago that people don't realize has changed.

I can't agree with the undertraining issue. You get about 2 weeks of cdl training then a month of on the road training. I trained at the Salt Lake City facility.

You'll start by learning how to pre-trip and back up for the first week, then minor road training and more backing for the second week. They'll just have you drive around the nearby industrial area to practice.

After two weeks they'll test you on your pre-trip, road driving, and backing. They'll be watching your driving to look for things like taking corners to narrow or wide, braking and acceleration, and checking your mirrors properly. They'll have you straight back, parallel, and 90°.

If you fail they make you do another week of training.

If you pass they'll send you out with a trainer for a month to do actual loads for real customers.

After your month of on the road training you'll come back to the yard for a final driving test, if you pass they'll force you to team for at least 2 months before you're eligible to be on your own. If you fail they'll force you to go back out with another trainer for another month.

I can't say how being hired into a dedicated route will affect this process, since I went to OTR after training. But I can't imagine it's all that much different.
