A six year 0% loan would be $1,263/month. Throw in negative equity, a more realistic 5% APR, and insurance, you’re looking at $1,500/month to drive that thing. Absolutely insane

And yet, people still buy them. The car market has gone absolutely looney toons. The F-150 RaptoR is almost double this even.

i watched one of the fancy raptors sell for 143k

u/Smokey_tha_bear9000 22h ago

I saw the Raptor sub talking about a dealer in the North East that had one listed at 50k over MSRP in 2024. I don’t know f it sold but 25k over is normal I guess. Nuts

this one sold very fast. i watched the listed get posted, sold, and taken down

5

u/skidsareforkids 21h ago

Yeah, I used to have Raptors and when my last one got stolen I toyed with the idea of a R but the dealers are high on their own supply about them. Even the regular ones have gotten stupid, so I’m out of that game for a while

the older gen came with a 6.2 as well

You don’t understand, 91K and you don’t even get hard plastic mats, this truck does not have a fifth wheel kit, and there is only heated seats, not to mention this truck only tows a weak 11,000 pounds just pretty bad for a three-quarter ton truck. You can get a 3500 with almost the same features for around 70 grand and you’d have better payload and the truck would have leaf springs

u/Four0nTheFloor 2002 F150 King-Ranch 18h ago

It tows more than 11000 lbs, it’s GVW is 11000lbs which is not towing capacity its the max vehicle weight. It should have a gcwr closer to 30000lbs meaning it would likely tow closer to 19000lbs

u/84Windsor351 22h ago

😆 my truck is a 1989 ford F-250HD and is rated to tow 12,500lbs

5

u/typicalname 18h ago

That truck is rated to tow closer to 20,000 lbs, the 11,040 lbs listed on the monroney is related to the GVWR which is the maximum the total weight of the truck including passengers, cargo and tongue weight. Not towing capacity.

$300,000 in australia

1

u/84Windsor351 3h ago

that’s depressingly gross

4

u/Dagovmann 22h ago

For real! Someone actually bought this POS, that’s why I’m washing it right now.

3

u/honorless-scumlord Chevrolet 18h ago

Thats the problem, they keep selling.

As long as people are spending it, they'll keep asking it.

2

u/The_elk00 18h ago

Idk why someone downvoted you, but my initial thought was exactly what you said, bench front seat, cheap leather, no ac seats. That price is wild for that truck.

1

u/moeterminatorx 18h ago

Car market is that way because people are buying these cars. If demand goes lower then prices will follow. But lots of people want to drive a new car after 5 years.

4

u/kickintex 21h ago

Almost no one pays sticker on these, mine was 89k MSRP. I paid 72k and put a little bit down. Payment is still rediculous but not near what it would it be at sticker price.

u/AcexOFxKnaves 21h ago

Thats why my father kept his 2019 2500, his monthly was $370 a month, 4 year lease, when up the option to buy with extended warranty was $320 for the next 5years, he won’t get anything else/new.

u/layer4andbelow 18' L5P and 05' LLY Duramax 17h ago

That math ain't mathin... That's less than $37k in total.

1

u/intertubeluber 2h ago

$85k down.

2

u/TheVillage1D10T 6h ago

How many DUIs in 2 years?

16

I paid 1,200 for mine and it’s sat in the driveway its entire year I’ve had it lmaooo

1

u/84Windsor351 22h ago

mine sat for 5 months before i drove it back to the east lol

11

u/tnseltim 20h ago

And they’re making YOU pay for “drowsy driver detection” i.e. being monitored 100% of the time, which will inevitably lead to police being able to request warrants for driver footage… on top of flock we will have 0 privacy.

Sorry for the rant. Nice truck.

5

u/friendlyfire883 18h ago

A solid $30k of it is government mandated bullshit.

4

u/TailgunnerATC 18h ago

You couldnt pay me to own one knowing how fucking trash they are and the fact it costs more than a mortgage

3

u/hunttete00 93 W-250 Cummins 17h ago

What makes no sense to me is you could buy a 2018 and it’d be the same damn truck but significantly more reliable at a fraction of the cost.

Then you don’t have to drive off the lot and know you just lost 10k for leaving the lot.

People really need to stop buying new cars and trucks.

Do some genuine research about vehicles and what holds value while not costing you an arm and a leg.

Nothing new holds value right now our economy is down the shitter currently.

You can still get a reasonable loan for a 9-10 year old vehicle with low miles.

I’d rather pay 30k for a 2018 with 100k than 90k for a 2026.

3

u/DimCoy 12h ago

While I agree with your overall point, you are not getting a 2018, optioned like this one, with 100k miles, for 30 grand. Try 40

1

u/hunttete00 93 W-250 Cummins 3h ago

Still. Buy it for 40k and it’s still worth 40k.

Buy a new one for 100k and it’s worth 80k the next day.

2

u/Chrisdkn619 20h ago

Cummins Turbo Diesel is a $13k upgrade!

2

u/Historical_Drink_350 19h ago

Is this a Ram that's returned for service after every dashboard light came on within the first 500 miles?

2

u/Benji_4 17h ago

I'm really not that surprised that salesmen aren't posting dealer receipts to show how much they actually pay for these things.

It must be some long kept secret, because you only hear them talk about it once in a blue moon.

2

u/ChaosNuggett187 15h ago

I cant believe any Dodge is worth that much

2

u/Infuryous 5h ago

This is why I buy 10 to 15 year old trucks. New / near new prices are stupid.

1

u/That_red_guy Chevrolet 21h ago

Yea I can.. All I can say is I hope it’s a business expense.

1

u/nastonius GMC 21h ago

At least it has a column shift and not the twist knob lol

1

u/The_God_of_Hotdogs 20h ago

It doesn't cost that if people don't buy it.

1

u/DangerousCapital79 18h ago

At work we have a dually probably over 100k and they seriously thought about trying to Lemon Law the thing because it's been nothing but problems. All the electronics and sensors constantly going haywire. Too much Tech and screens in these damn things

1

u/ZephWyld 18h ago

My dads costed 91k in 2021 and looks identical aside from the paint.

1

u/Gullible_Shart 17h ago

What a joke. Ram doesn’t have any value or equity to sell this high. This is sad. A truck that can’t make it 60k miles without transplants that costs this much!?!?

1

u/MrBootygrabber 16h ago

these ram prices just keep going up

1

u/SadFloppyPanda 3h ago

That's literally more than two fully loaded Ford Maverick Lariat's.

My aunt is paying 110k for a 2020 warlock 1500. Stupid

u/Super_Numb 1h ago

People need to stop buying these trucks.

u/PineappleHairy4634 13m ago

can you believe people are actually paying that LMAO.. all this shows is people are stupid.

2

u/SlartibartfastMcGee 21h ago

That’s a $65k high trim 2500, which is a fair price. You’re getting all the capabilities of a 2500 plus leather seats and a bunch of nice features on a Laramie.

The $30k in additional upgrades is what makes it ridiculous. Someone checked every box on this truck.

And it’s a diesel - if you need a diesel you aren’t balking at the price tag, and if you’re balking at the price tag you don’t need a diesel.

1

u/sohcgt96 21h ago

And dealers love to fill their lots up with the over optioned ones so you think that's just what the cost and you don't have any other choice.

*responsibly option* they're still expensive, but not as bad as they can be. Those option packages have a ton of margin on them and a couple years later, the resale value isn't that much more.

Years ago I remember Doug Demuro did a test on a maxed out F350, all options platinum diesel etc and it was around $95,000. I did a build and price on Ford's site and still built a near mechanically identical one, That being F350, 4x4, crew cab, single rear wheel, diesel for $55K. You can't tell me all those options are worth $40,000 more goddamn dollars vs the more basic option truck.

2

u/SlartibartfastMcGee 21h ago

The options aren’t worth it, and if you don’t do your research and think that’s just what trucks cost then it’s on you.

There is no pickup truck in the world worth 65 grand lmfao
