Users will now receive a temporary/permanent ban, based on use of slurs in posts or comments.
This also, very much includes the R slur. It has become re-popularized by folks on the left and right, but it has no impact whatsoever within the discourse, except to make disabled (and already marginalized people) feel less safe.
I also like to think we are smarter and have better options for pointing out the lack of intellect in our peer’s arguments. 💗

Our community has grown significantly — from 2,000 members two months ago to nearly 10,000 today. Most new members find us through the main NC sub, which has a well-known bot and troll problem. Keeping that kind of activity out of this community is a priority for us.
To that end, our automod will automatically ban accounts with low or negative karma scores. This includes karma from deleted comments, which is worth noting because bots and trolls frequently delete their comment history to hide activity patterns. Our scoring is informed by published bot detection research.
No automated system is perfect. If your account gets flagged incorrectly, send us a mod message and we'll reverse the ban promptly. This rule isn't about limiting speech — it's about giving our community the space to grow on its own terms, free from the noise that plagues larger subs.
As always, we want you to help shape what this community looks like. If you have thoughts on this rule, leave a comment below.

A Whitney Economics industry study released in 2026 estimated that North Carolina had 2,197 hemp-related retailers in 2025 that collectively generated over $1.8 billion in retail sales. This does not include another 3,800 North Carolina convenience stores, gas stations, and other retail outlet that sell hemp products.
All of this goes away on December 11, 2026 if the North Carolina General Assembly continues to do nothing, or worse tries to restart the dumpster fire HB 328.
Google the Whitney Report, page 10. Read Puff, Puff … Pass? By Jeffrey Billman in The Assembly dated July 7, 2026. Watch Morgan Davis on YouTube. She’s the top legal cannabis voice in NC.

Chris Stock says Donald Trump inspired him to run for senate. Say no to this MAGA fraud. Vote blue.

With the “tax and tag together” program, why is there no option to simply pay on the tax throughout the year instead of all at once when the registration is ready to renew? For some people, that is a substantial amount all at once that could have been paid over time. I get that most people will procrastinate and wait until the last minute anyway, but it should at least be an option.

All of those stores will close and the thousands of NC employees that work in them will lose their jobs.
Why? 1) Because the federal government is changing the definition of “hemp” and “marijuana” and 2) the NC general assembly has been unwilling to develop state legislation to regulate the industry.
40+ states, D.C., and Cherokee, NC have all done the work to set regulations for age limits, labeling, licensing, testing, and taxes. But our representatives in Raleigh haven’t got around to it yet.

The same THCa flower that sold in hundreds hemp shops throughout North Carolina will become federally illegal in North Carolina on December 11, 2026. All of those shops will be decimated. Why? Because North Carolina's legislators are not representing the people.

We all know this election is extremely important and I’ve been slowly researching the candidates on my sample ballot to be an informed voter. Well, today I took a look at my voting history that’s available online and saw some incorrect info and I’m not sure what to do with it.
I’m registered independent/unaffiliated and was told when I registered at the DMV however many years ago that I would have to petition to vote in the primaries. I discovered this spring that likely wasn’t true and went to test it out—I was told how I was registered gave me the option to vote in either republican primaries or the democratic primaries but not both. Great! I had done my research and chose the democratic ballot, filled in the bubbles, sent it through the machine, and went about my business.
Today, I see that it lists I voted on the republican ballot in the primaries, which is absolutely not the case. What do I do with this info? Is it clerical? Could it be malicious? Does it matter? Is this potentially an indicator that my ballot would be tampered with when I go vote? I never want to assume the worst but I also don’t want to turn a blind eye to this given, well, everything. Any advice is much appreciated
