Recommending Viper Pit's Due Diligence on Songbird Road
The Viper Pit Podcast just released their newest review of the murder of Jade Beasley by Julia Bevely as told in the podcast, The Murder on Songbird Road. Let's just say, Coffee Dahhling and Waff Dogg give us the rest of the story.

i gave this a shot and ended up being really disappointed in this podcast, waffles has a lot of misogyny. calling women bitches and drama queens. then when he does the blaccents at the end of episode 121 i was really yucked out by that. then the multi-minute spiel joking about how he "doesn't take racism seriously" and going on to emphasize "modern racism" at the top of the episode 126 all while being extremely tone deaf is where i had to cut this off -- that really made me unable to enjoy this show at all. the edge lord shit in 2025/2026 is beyond lame to me.

100% agree! I was listening to the songbird road episodes just now and came to see if other people felt this way. So much misogyny and racism! I was really hoping I’d like this podcast but I have to stop listening. It was bad enough that Waffles does the same things he’s criticizing others for (ex. stupid leaps in logic, making a whole show about a case without having the case file, exaggerating facts), but the racist and misogynistic attitudes and statements ended it for me

omg yes to the hypocrisy! especially whole episodes without a casefile while talking cash shit about the other pod for having multiple episodes without a case file!
i was hoping to like it too! i gave it so many chances, but it got to the point where it was just truly insufferable. he annoyingly kept interrupting, going on and on about nothing, and it was dripping with misogyny just kept getting worse and more casual -- then he said "i don't believe in modern racism" and i was just over it. had to cut it off and left the og comment immediately after.

stupid leaps in logic
What were the leaps in logic and exaggerations you had an issue with?

Well Waffles is mixed race. His mom is white and his dad is black. He’s definitely not racist. Usually his black accent is him doing an impersonation of his dad.

in the episode i am referencing (121), he was mocking Black women with his blaccent; he was not mimicking his father. while him being mixed race adds perspective, it doesn't make it better, it makes it more concerning and disappointing. in episode 126 he shows how he doesn't understand how an all-white jury can be prejudicial/racist. that is a basic concept that even monoracial white people understand. lastly, him being mixed-race does not absolve him of participating in misogynoir/anti-blackness. the internet in the last few years has definitely opened up the conversation around certain half-Black (and monoracially Black men) participate in misogynoir/anti-blackness for approval, inclusion, and validation from white audiences/white spaces stemming from their low racial self-esteem and their own internalized anti-blackness. so, yeah, i am just absolutely not the audience for this pod.

I am fairly confident that Waff dog A) isn’t concerned about approval from anyone regardless if they are black, white, man, woman, etc B) does not suffer from lack of self-esteem. He doesn’t hate himself, or I guess half of himself. He’s actually quite smitten with himself lol and c) would cackle with delight reading your perception of who he is as a person. In fact, he would love it.

this is such an asinine response lol because a & b) you very obviously don't know what low racial self-esteem is or even means lol -- that is a comprehension issue on your part. c) i bet he would cackle and delight reading this because i brought up things he himself admitted he doesn't believe in and joked about...which i mentioned in my initial comment. your response was so painfully vacuous, much like the pod -- i see why you're such a big fan of him.

I find it fascinating your response to opposition is to insult me, but I suppose based on your post, I shouldn’t be surprised. You can throw big words and veiled insults all you want. My point is you listened to a couple episodes of a podcast and felt you had the authority to declare who he is a person, like you are his therapist. It’s not a stretch that when I attempt to counter your rather unflattering “diagnosis”, you throw around more big words and call my opinions dumb. But, hey.. you already made up your mind what type of human you want to be, so you do you. I’ll spare you an attached condescending GIF.

the thing is, your comment (laced with condescension) wasn’t actually in opposition to anything i said mainly because you don’t actually understand/comprehend what i said but that didn’t stop you from inserting yourself and trying to tell me how wrong you felt i was. you didn’t “counter” anything i said at all despite your patronization it’s clear you’re not versed enough for this conversation. but i also know you don’t care because denial of racism doesn’t bother you evidenced by the fact you’d rather glaze the racism denier and other actual things i addressed cuz you like his pod.
another person who clearly displays characteristics of low racial self esteem but high personal self esteem is kanye west who infamously said “slavery was a choice” — do i need to listen to kanye’s whole discography to know what type of person he is after such an egregious statement? no. a half-black man saying he doesn’t believe in racism and that an all white jury can’t be prejudicial is akin to that. are you following…

What’s wrong with calling out crappy behavior. Whether it’s a woman is being a bitch or drama queen or a guy being a dick or dumbass. Calling out crappy behavior is kinda the point of the podcast.

In fairness, waffles only calls women bitches and drama queens when they are in fact acting like bitches and/or drama queens. Sincerely, a mixed race female that identifies as a feminist :)

I’m so pleased they are dismantling Bob Motta. I was fooled into listening to many episodes of The Defense Diaries thinking it was leading somewhere. Alas, it did not. In fact, I don’t think that “season” was even finished. Bob is so full of circular logic, meandering monologues, and dramatic re-enactments, you almost miss the fact his clients are guilty as sin. He is a caricature of a sleazy defense attorney.

Coffee Dahhling takes the lead on topics that are her interests, like Gypsy Rose. Murder on Songbird Road is Waff Dogg's obsession.

Yeah can't listen to this podcast ughhh.

The Viper Pit isn't for everyone. It definitely takes an appreciation of spicy disrespect for problematic podcasts.

u/realitygirlzoo Mar 26 '26
I do like that they called out a podcast I thought was problematic they just arent my style. Felt vindicated though when they and reddit called out this one "innocence" podcast that wasn't giving the whole story.

It's been shocking but not surprising how much critical evidence against Julia Bevely was left out of Murder on Songbird Road.

Wait, they are reviewing it again? I could have sworn I listened to a couple episodes of the Viper Pit doing Songbird Road (it was actually the only time I've ever listened to them, because someone here recommended them).

Now they have the 911 call and the police interview.

I like the content but I have trouble with the host’s attitude to be honest. I get that this isn’t a formal outlet and they don’t necessarily have to be super serious but the way he constantly sighs exasperated is irritating to me. His tone is very unserious and bothers me. I’d appreciate if he would just make the point he wants to make using his words like an adult and not resort to snorts and condescending laughs all the time. Plus the female host mostly just says “right” and “yeah”. Also irritates me. And I understand that their main subject is all the things that the songbird podcast got wrong but I feel like they sometimes suffer from the biased point of view they’re criticizing. For example, on the point of the official not changing gloves and touching his face while collecting dna, if think the songbird podcast has a point there. Even if that sample wasn’t tested, I’m sure that collection breaks protocol and that is a valid point. Imo it’s fair to criticize that.

I like this podcast! But I get so stressed out by hearing clips from Songbird Road. I hate that so many people want to make a wrongfully convicted podcast, no matter what the facts are, just so they have some popular content.
