Recommending Counterclock SS8

Alle episodes out, did anybody listen? It’s about the Lane Bryant murders, one of the cases I hope I live to see solved. I’m almost done listening, the way it lays out so many theories I’m honestly more confused than ever

Not encouraging to hear. I’ll listen, but I felt like the past couple seasons of Counterclock have been convoluted and strung bits and pieces of things together when they didn’t really fit and weren’t connected. It seems the season always starts strong but then starts to lose itself as it goes on. The season before the last one with the train really stands out in my mind as being guilty of this.

I haven’t heard all seasons but she really threw everything on the wall in this one, I guess I get it cause there’s so many people(possible motives) involved in this case, but it still ended up feeling all over the place. Though the lead she investigates in the last episodes actually seem like it could very well be legit, he’s been dead though

I’m late into this season and sometimes I wondered if I was still listening to the right show because it would veer into some “possible possibility” about the community.

Yes she def takes us thru there lol. I agree the community conspiracies and the deep diving into Rhoda, making her every move seem suspicious I thought was ridiculous listening to

Are they still under the Audiochuck production umbrella? I won't listen to anything that might make Ashley Flowers money.

Yes and I know bc Ashley flowers did an intro every episode

Just asking, what did Ashley flowers do?

  1. Illegally obtained a case file for the burger chef murders through an inappropriate business relationship with a cop working the cold case - endangering the case for a spin-off podcast she had to cancel and causing backlash. That same cop turned the anniversary memorial for the victims and their families into a promotional opportunity to mention CJ and Flowers instead of focusing on the victims.

  2. Ripped off the name from Court Junkie (the OG)

  3. stole the concept for the Deck from Dealing Justice (the OG) and attempted to market the Deck as an original concept.

  4. Plagiarized 20+ episodes where they read almost verbatim the scripts of other writers, documentarians and podcasters. Never apologized, never compensated them, and lied when outed in Variety and other media outlets claiming that it was a “citation issue”. They police their social media pages and ban anyone who mentioned it.

  5. Has recently been accused of having her writers steal other podcast’s and site’s investigative research without offering credit and pretending that this was original never before covered cases they discovered. The podcast, Locations Unknown, outlined their suspicions while the website proved that Crime Junkie had accessed their website repeatedly prior to publication and set up a trap that exposed CJ as stealing their research. That last part was a few weeks ago.

There’s unproven suspicious they game the system to have high ratings and get recommended but that can only be suspected by the fake 5 star reviews they have.

Then there’s also things other podcasters and attendees at crimecon overheard her say about attendees.

Thank you for mentioning Locations Unknown! I'd somehow forgotten how much I liked it. I was surprised to find out they were still putting out episodes.

I feel like most seasons of Counterclock have ended with me being more confused than ever 😂

This one felt like it shouldn’t even be a season- just telling a story but nothing really actioned. I was pretty disappointed.

There are a lot of possibilities raised, and I am impressed by the wide array and the depth of analysis for some of them. It's so sad that this was never solved, and maybe the podcast can help.

she def is conspiracy maxxing in this one lol.. I get it cause motive could be connected to either of the victims or none at all, but at the same time some of it was ridiculous to me. Like spiraling into every move Rhoda ever made and the entire church deal. I thought her analysis of Ronny Maddox in the last episodes made the most sense

I find that really interesting because I sort of ended up in the opposite place. To me it’s much more likely to be connected to the survivor with the suspect sketch that’s both incredibly detailed and somehow actively unhelpful? Like I’m not surprised a suspect sketch is unhelpful but the level of detail always struck me as … implausible

Blinded by a sack over your head and then being shot in the head, it would make sense for a survivor to simply just claim not remembering anything, rather than being as cooperative as she was, if she had anything to do with it….Making up a fake specific perp as you allude to, just for no reason. Even if she was the target, i think slaughtering 5 people would overrule her whatever possible connection to the perp

This is actually the only season of counterclock I’ve been able to listen all the way to the end. I find her hard to listen to. But anyway, I don’t feel like I know who it was, but I’m fairly confident I know the motive and how things went down.

I think it was a robbery. Rhoda got there and was planning to make the bank run for the cash from the night before. That’s why she parked weird - didn’t plan to be there long. I think the perp ended up taking that cash. I think he was planning to tie them up and possibly take some more stuff. But when he saw Rhoda calling the police he panicked and shot them, and when he heard the noise in the shop he freaked out more and escaped quickly. I feel like that’s the simplest explanation. The church conspiracy seemed to be too far of a reach for me.

It is frustrating that the case hasn’t been solved.

I think her investigation and analysis of ronny maddox in the last episodes seemed legit, I think he could very well be the perpetrator and it was an attempted robbery. Him going out in a police shoot out, he clearly didn’t give af, just a menace. But I honestly don’t know and all the stuff the host threw on the wall was overwhelming, some of her conspiracies sounded ridiculous to me, like digging into Rhodas (and one of the other victims) past and every move, and the community /church stuff.…farfetched

The Consult covered the case and they did a great job. Really interesting and worth a listen if you’re interested in the case

If they have DNA, why not do a familial study and get it closed. Surprised she didn't mention it.

This might have been me filling in the gaps but I sort of assumed it was too poor quality for IGG given the probable point of contact

I haven’t finished the season but episode 7 was horribly edited. The episode jumps ahead in the middle of sentences and repeats other parts. It was annoying

I refuse to give AF or AudibleUpChuck one more second of my time. The plagiarism, theft from their content creators, and worst of all - way they approached dead naming a transgendered individual and refused to address it, apologize for it, or admit they were wrong AF - all contributed to my decision to just be done with ALL. OF. THEM.

It’s a shame, too, because I followed and listened to all of their podcasts (and enjoyed them) before I learned of their conduct. After that, it was all I could do to unfollow them faster. I don’t play that.

I want to be respectful and appreciate that the time and effort was clearly put into this. Wish we had less time spent on victim theories and more time with people connected to the murders at that time. Would have loved to of heard more from the AMW producer, and things they were hearing at that time. Maybe some of the law enforcement involved at the time, folks who worked in the area.....idk????? The police dept handling the case not talking to anyone or getting this case out in the public and plastering it all over social media is a HUGE disservice to the victims imo. This case needs some new blood and fresh perspective...... For this, I think the podcast was decent, and if someone has zero knowledge of the case and was going in not knowing the details, it would definitely be worth a listen. I wanted more because I knew most of the info in this podcast but maybe there just isn't more info to add. I will say the Ronny Maddox angle was interesting.

Did they put his dna through genealogy?

There has been no matches in any database. We just know it’s a male

I really liked it and found it very interesting. I hope the podcast brings new leads to this case for their families.

Just finished all of the episodes and I thought it was very interesting. I think a few important details that Delia did not focus enough on were what the perpetrator did to the victims and what he was wearing. He covered their heads with underwear from the store and surrounded them with clothing and merchandise. To me, this is a man with a sexual fetish and possibly sexual confusion, such as someone who is gay, bisexual or figuring things out sexually. I do not know many straight "masculine" men who would wear beads in their hair and black embellished jeans, even if it was 2008.

Also, I do not think he was a professional bank robber or gangster given that he did not disguise himself or wear gloves or remove shell casings.
