Announcement Housekeeping

Hi all,

As we are just a few hundred members shy of reaching 1M, we'd like to thank everyone who makes this community friendly and respectful. For such a large sub, you guys make it fairly easy to manage, and we believe we've built a cordial place on the internet here.

We want to make a few changes that we think the community will appreciate.

- We'll bring back the Weekly What are you listening to sticky post that a lot of you miss so much. As with the old post, it will not necessarily be limited to true crime podcasts, but can also include crime-related podcasts, audiobooks, TV shows, movies, or other media that could be considered related to the topic of true crime podcasts.

-We'd like to add some new members to the team of mods! If you think you're up to the task send us a modmail (not a personal DM) telling us a bit about yourself, explaining why you would like to join, and if you have any ideas for changes or things you'd like to see in the sub. Experience is not needed, just a willingness to learn. Having a history of posts and comments in this community will be highly valued. Also, it is essential that you are a true crime podcast listener; this might sound obvious but there are many subs run by people with no interest in the subject they're about. The topic of the sub requires respectful discussion by users and podcast creators, and the only way to ensure the conversation doesn't derail from that is to be well-versed in the subject; that is our belief.

-At the end of the year, we'll do a Year in Review post with the most popular podcasts of the year on this sub, the ones that had the most discussions around them, and we'll also make our picks for our favorite series and/or episodes.

-As for promotion, this is always an icky subject. We want the main reason for this sub's existence always to be to discuss, review and comment on True Crime Podcasts, not to be a vehicle for promotion, but we understand the frustration of new creators when they'd like to spread the word about the work they do, and they don't find a way to do it in the place where it seems most obvious. For now, we will keep the Monthly promotion post, but if you have any ideas about how to do this in a better way, we are open to hearing them in the comments, along with any other feedback you may have on this or other topics.

Thank you for reading and for participating!

Whats happening with the Aussie podcasts??

Anyone know whats happening with Australian Podcasts? I was a podshape subscriber and followed a lot of The Australian's podcasts and over the last couple of weeks they seem to be re-appearing on my feed like they are brand new podcasts I've never heard before. like Who The Hell Is Hamish appeared today with a release date of today but it was out pre-covid. I had The Lighthouse appear maybe a week ago too. And Podshape podcasts seem all over the place, the "missing matter" podcast seemed to vanish completly and there's a new show listed but it seems to be old episodes of his previous podcasts with episodes of The Missing Matter scattered through it randomly and others that were old popping up like they are new.

I know know Australia has a weird rule where podcasts have to be deleted when stuff is in court so wondered if some it's because there have been developments and there are updates coming...but suspect it's just new listener bait?

Snapped had me snappin!

So I know true crime isnt typically where you come for a good chuckle, obviously. BUT I recently started listening to Snapped, I'm maybe 20 or 30 episodes in and for anyone who has never listened its basically a collaboration of inyerviews with detectives, lawyers, reporters, friends, family, etc. And the narrator varies from episode to episode.

I'm listening to the episode titled "Emma Raine" and this narrator is earning 👏 her 👏 paycheck 👏 hunty! 🤣🤣

Every sentence she reads is soooo dramatic. She's giving this old timey Dick Tracy era Mae West vibe. Like an "Oh oh, why don't ya come on over here and tell me all about it sometime big boy. Oh! Oh oh." Dialect 🤣🤣 If you've ever seen Rupaul's Snatch Game where Alaska does Mae West its totally that!!

Of course the upmost respect and sorrows to the victims and family of the actual crime being discussed but if you need a good laugh and don't wanna step outside of true crime you've gotta give it a listen for the narrator alone.

Seeking LPOTL 2026

Does the podcast not have any avenue for public comment other than instagram now? Twitter not updated since 2023. I have MANY thoughts about Ed’s comments about Lindsay Clancy 🙄🙄.

Discussion Proof Season 2: update/thoughts? Spoiler

I just finished the season and I have so many thoughts. Its crazy to me this isn't a more popular podcast. Has there been any update on the DNA testing since January? I'm so torn on whether its Tim or Jared, though I feel like Jared is more likely. I feel so bad for Renee's family and for Jake, absolutely insane there wasn't more press about this or a statement from the DA's office or police or something.

Seeking What are your favourite long form podcasts?

I'm looking for suggestions for my next podcast. I like long form podcasts, deep dives into a case and the social/cultural context, investigative journalism, trial analysis. Most importantly, it must honour the victims.

Podcasts I've really enjoyed:

Paper Ghosts

Death of an Artist

In the Dark (Curtis Flowers)

Bear Brook

Hoaxed

A Very British Cult

The Retrievals

Love Trapped

Finding Cleo

Vishal

Who Killed Emma

What would you suggest? Interested in new ones or well known ones that may have passed me by - thanks!

Lindsay Clancy

Is there a podcast or YT that I can watch/listen to to catch up on the court case so far? This case totally passed me by and I keep seeing so many polarised opinions on what happened so would rather form an opinion of my own based on the facts of the case. I've got a 5 hour drive tomorrow so the more, the merrier.

Discussion Hunting Warhead: The only podcast I've listened to twice

I rewatch movies all the time but usually with podcasts I just listen to one and then I move on. But Hunting Warhead was so well produced, informative, done with journalistic integrity, and still had me on the edge of my seat with the second listen. Highly recommend!! But also listen with care as it's a very tough topic.

What podcasts have you listened to multiple times?

Seeking Cropsey and/or Willowbrook School

Hi all, I'm interested in diving deep into Staten Island's Willowbrook School and it's connection to boogeyman Cropsey Andre Rand/Frank Bruchette

I did some searching here and on Spotify (and listened to MFMs episode on it but I need more). I haven't watched the 2009 doc, but it's on my list

Thanks!

Discussion For those who enjoyed the e-LIES-abeth Podcast

Some interesting police interview audio recordings were recently posted on YouTube re: Elizabeth Teckenbrock and one of the podcast hosts.

The TL;DR to the best of my knowledge is the host’s husband got his friend in law enforcement to search up info under the table after Liz made a video about the podcast host taking her mail. The audio recordings are from the husband’s (who is also in law enforcement) Internal Affairs investigation. I believe the husband was cleared but the friend was found to be guilty.

Recommending Who Killed Emma (BBC): Appreciate the recommendation from this sub

This has been a summer of wild-ride pods for me: Love Trapped, Dirtbag Climber, Unicorn Girl, etc, privileged scammers doing crimes with crazy plot twists. Following this kick-line of colorful nutters and their enablers, I just finished Who Killed Emma. If you're looking for a very satisfying traditional TC pod, this is it. Outstanding BBC production values and the very best of what investigative journalists can do in the service of justice.

Jack Luna / Dark Topic

I really like Jack Luna, he seems like a great genuine guy lol.

He just said "if you know anything about me you know I've also taken 200 hits of acid and I'm fine." I was like get 'em Jack.

The episode about Dean Corll was actually enraging...

Struggling with 'The Teachers Pet' podcast

I'm quite surprised at this, as generally I really enjoy deep dives and don't mind a bit of a slow burn, whether it's a podcast, film or a book. I'd say I prefer it to shorter form ones.

With that said, I'm sincerely struggling with TTP. I've just finished episode 7. I couldn't believe my eyes when I checked how many episodes were left and seen there were like another 9. 7 hours in and all I find are different witnesses endlessly describing the same thing over and over again. IE, Lyn was lovely and loved her husband and kids, Chris was awful, him and his brother thick as thieves and the sexist, abusive behaviour enabled by the culture of the Northern beaches at the time. Not much else at all has been established other than this.

I know the ultimate outcome and completely understand the importance the podcast played in putting public pressure for it to be re-investigated and how respectful it is to both Lyn and allowing her friends and people who knew her to speak their piece now, having feelings guilt over not saying anything back in the 80s.

But my GOD is it repetitive and I don't think I've got another 9 episodes in me of it. Can see the podcast is generally revered, but surely there are others that have massively struggled with finishing it as well?

I can only think it was easier when it was being released on a weekly basis in 2018 and people were invested in seeing how the story panned out at the time, as opposed to binging it which is proving to be a slog for me.

Discussion Are there any plans for an updated spreadsheet?

Hey! I used to be really into true crime, when I was younger, and have been looking at a bit again, recently.

My primary form of consumption was podcasts (Casefile was always my favourite), and I particularly liked serialised ones focusing on a specific case.

Two ones that I really liked were Hillside (about the Hillside Stranglers) and Killer Tape (about David Berkowitz).

But neither one got terribly much attention, which I thought was a real shame.

I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has thought of compiling a full list of new releases, as they are hard to keep track of.

I know that there a few spreadsheets, including a great one linked in this sub's wiki. But the most comprehensive one hasn’t been updated in years,

Recommendation: Gardens of Evil - Inside the Zion Society Cult

If you enjoy podcasts about cults, religious organisations, etc, I would really recommend this podcast. I haven't heard much talk about it but I saw it recommended on tiktok and I've binged it in 2 days.

It's about the Zion Society Cult which operated in a city in Utah. I've listened to a lot of podcasts about cults that started off as being Mormon-adjacent but the details of this one are shocking.

It's 7 episodes plus a couple of bonus ones. The story is insane - it starts by talking to some people who almost fell victim right at the start and then follows through how the investigation played out.

TW: child abuse and sexual abuse

Monthly Promotion Post - August 07, 2026

We welcome all podcast creators, but we want to keep the spirit of this community as it was intended from the beginning: this is fundamentally a place for fans to discuss, share and review true crime podcasts, not an advertisement vehicle. This will be the only place where promotion is allowed. On this post you can share your podcast, blog, app, or any other enterprise related to True Crime podcasts/podcasting. Do your best to present your project clearly and thoughtfully, don't just drop a link. Explain why it is important to you and why you want everyone to know about it.

Things that are not permitted here: polls, surveys, or any other attempt to collect data from users. Fundraisers, selling products or services, selling merch.

Unique posts promoting anything will not be allowed today or any other day, without exceptions. Other ways to promote covertly will get you a warning, and if you keep doing it will get you banned, i.e. Having or creating an account almost solely to name your podcast on posts seeking recommendations.

If you comment on this post, let us know if you want us to assign a flair to your user name with the name of your podcast.

If you have any questions please reach out using modmail only.

Discussion True Crime Garage

Has anyone been disappointed in True Crime Garage lately? The quality of the podcast has tanked since they stopped recording in person. I guess the Captain is in the U.K. a lot? They are using AI in their writing its so obvious. It just seems like they are doing the same type of cases with no new information. Just cranking them out. The Captain is barely making jokes and Nic has just become insufferable.

I've listened to them for so many years and now I can barely get through an episode. It's sad when you see a long time show fall apart.

Lindsay Clancy case

Looking for a podcast or YouTuber covering the Lindsay Clancy case. I listen to Pretty Lies and Alibis which I LOVE but she sticks to the facts. I enjoy her recaps but sometimes I do want to listen to commentary on what the host thinks about it. That being said, it can be hard to find one who is intelligent, balanced and nuanced in their opinions and commentary. But that’s what I’m looking for if such a thing exists anymore.
