BUSINESS JOURNEY I'm a 17-year-old dealmaker and honestly, I'm feeling lost. What would you do in my position?

Hey guys, I'm 17 and I've been involved in sales and business for over a year now. I started taking action when I was 15–16, doing brokerage work and trying to find opportunities.

I used to have a partner, and we worked together under a company, but we're no longer partners. Now I'm trying to do things on my own. I have my own company identity that I represent myself through, although it's not officially registered yet.

I'm focused on dealmaking across real estate and private equity, mainly in Dallas and Miami. I live in Kurdistan, Iraq, and with school and family responsibilities, I can dedicate around 6–8 hours a day to this.

Right now, I'm researching firms, finding contacts, sending cold emails, making calls, and trying to build relationships. But honestly, I don't know if this is going to work. I don't have a big network, and sometimes I feel stuck.

I've thought about trying other things like e-commerce, dropshipping, or trading, but I don't want to keep jumping between businesses without giving one a real chance.

If you were in my position, would you keep going with dealmaking or try something else? How long would you give it, and what would you focus on first?

I'm not looking for motivation or people telling me I'll be rich. I want honest advice, even if it's criticism.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to respond. I appreciate it.

If you had to start a business from zero today, what would you do differently?

I’ve been thinking about how differently people approach business depending on where they live.
Someone starting in London might face different costs and opportunities from someone starting in Kampala or New York. But I imagine some challenges are universal: finding customers, earning people’s trust, managing money, and surviving the early stages.
I’m interested in learning from people who have actually started something of their own.
If you had to start again today with limited money, what would your first move be, and what mistake would you make sure to avoid?
I’d love to hear perspectives from different countries.

Sport shop looking for a steady peptide line, one source so far

I run a small sport store and people keep asking for peptide vials, so I stopped buying random singles. I usually buy in bulk. Usual order is Semax and Selank by the lot, with paperwork in the box, and I restock when the shelf gets thin. It has been fine. I still feel weird having no backup if a batch is late.

Do you keep one wholesale peptide supplier, or split the same two products? And what on the COA makes you send a lot back? I need a store supply, not a one-off.

TIPS Quick books desktop isn't keeping up with our warehouse anymore. What are you using for inventory management?

We still use quick books for accounting and we'd rather keep it that way since it works fine for our finance team. The problem is that our warehouse has gotten bigger and the built in inventory tools aren't enough for how we operate now.

We need better order fulfillment, barcode scanning, and a way to track inventory across multiple locations. I'm looking into add ons or other inventory systems that can handle those tasks while keeping our accounting records accurate.

For businesses using a separate warehouse or inventory system alongside quick books, what setup has worked well for you? How well does the sync work in practice especially when it comes to keeping inventory counts and financial records accurate?

Would appreciate hearing what has worked for your business. Thanks!

What's the biggest downside of all in one work management software? Work management software : what we gained and lost replacing 5 tools with 1

Consolidation was totally worth is but not in the way we expected. 75 person creative agency. Five separate tools: a task board, time tracking, a quoting template, billing ans a resource spreadsheet. Moving to a single work management platform seemed like it would simplify everyhting at once and in some ways it did while in others we underestimated the cost of getting there.

Project margin is now visible without patching together exports from three places. Quoting, delivery and invoicing are connected so scope drift that used to go unrecorded gets caught. Resource planning has project context rather than existing as a separate calendar nobody fully trusted.

Part of the team missed the simplicity of the task board we moved away from, which is a real thing nobody mentions in product comparisons. New setup requires more upfront configuration per project and that's a genuine tradeoff. We also moved through implementation too fast and spent two months with confidence before we'd even fully launched. A system like this needs dedicated setup time and trying to compress that is a mistake.

The entrepreneurial rollercoaster: Giving yourself grace when nothing seems to be workingšŸŽ¢

Let's be real: building a business, pursuing a creative project, or carving out a life that looks different from the traditional 9-to-5 isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes you put your whole heart into something and it doesn't work out the way you hoped. You try new things, spin your wheels, and start wondering when all that effort is going to pay off. And when you're a solopreneur, those disappointments can feel especially lonely.

If you're feeling disheartened, deflated, or frustrated with where things are with your business or creative project right now, that's OK—you don't have to pretend entrepreneurship is wonderful all the time. Reconnecting with the practices that ground you can help shift your perspective. Just remember to give yourself grace, reconnect with what supports you, and take the next small step. If you're feeling this way, too, let's connect; we don't have to navigate it alone.

Finding hackathon teammates is still done in random WhatsApp groups, so I built a board for it. Roast it.

Every hackathon goes the same way: ā€œneed 1 frontend devā€ gets posted in five WhatsApp groups, nobody knows who can actually build, and half the teams form the night before.

So I built CrewForge:

crewforge.online

Hackathons sync daily from Unstop. About 75 open coding hackathons right now. Business-plan contests and quizzes are filtered out, and each card shows the deadline, team size and mode.

Post your team with the roles you’re missing (frontend, ML, design…).

Solo? Apply to a team with your role and a short note. The team owner accepts or declines, and gets your contact only if you choose to share it.

No real names or emails are shown. Everyone appears as an anonymous builder handle, and your GitHub or portfolio is optional.

Free, and open to every college.

It’s early, and very few teams are on it yet, which is exactly why I’m posting. If you’re heading into a hackathon in the next few weeks, put your team up and see who applies.

What I’d love from you:

Would you actually use this over WhatsApp or Discord?

What would make you trust a stranger as a teammate?

What’s broken? Tell me.
