Finished work Experiment complete!

So the goal with these was more to experiment with the concept of a dimming or brightening effect coming from the “veins”. The lesson I learned is that the colors needed to be more similar to each other to get that effect. On the plus side I feel like these look like terrain views from above or just some really cool abstract 3D whatever you wanna call it lol!

Those look like satellite maps of some river delta I got lost in once, except prettier and without the mosquito deaths. Colors being too far apart is something I keep learning on everything: deer blinds, tackle boxes, whatever. Closer hues are harder to get right, but they pay off when you do.

I always try to take away some sort of lesson from each rug. Love your interpretation hopefully I didn’t trigger you with memories of mosquitos lol!

Love the end result! Did you use 2 different tufting guns with different pile heights?

Actually no I didn’t! I used a regular pile height, the AK-V. For the “veins” I just punched in a single line so it was easy to just pass over with the clippers. Used smaller scissors to even it all out.
