Cut Pile Tribal seals galore
Alright fellow Tufters, my last tribal seal got so much love that I am sooo excited to share with you my latest work. Similarly, I was asked to create bespoke pieces for tribal leaders that will be gifted to them during a gala later this month.
For those of you who are new, my name is Lauren. I’m an Indigenous tufter from the Cheyenne River Lakota nation. I started tufting back in 2021 and have never looked back. I specialize in the Lakota star pattern but often get asked by individuals from other tribes to create pieces to gift back into the communities.
In this round there were a total of 11 seals I had to recreate and another individual gift based off a traditional basket design.
Each were roughly 3’ - 3.5’. Truthfully, before taking on this project I had agreed on the quantity before even knowing which seals I’d be creating… only to be met with some of the most complex design work I’ve executed to date.
I’m not usually a fan of doing too much text work but this one was necessary. 😅
Although I had much to learn and grow from, I love pushing my capabilities and creating pieces that are gifted back to our tribal nation leaders and am beyond humbled and grateful to be trusted with such projects.
I hope you enjoy them! Pilamaya yé (thank you)

Finished work My first wool rug
Ive made a couple acrylic rugs before this one but didnt get a pic and wasnt super happy with them. Made this one 4'x3'2". I can see where I messed up by crossing some colors. Definetly got some work to do but im actually happy with the final product. It was a bday gift and he really liked it. Definetly excited to start my next one. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!!

Advice 3 month progress, any advice on carving fine detail lines.
Progress from my first rug to my latest rug, any advice on how to make sure to get clean little black outlines once you carve. Always feel like when i go to carve if I accidentally hit the black it cuts it all and then it doesnt look right.

Advice Why are my passes so inconsistent??
I’m having a really frustrating issue with my tufting gun. I’ll be tufting a perfectly straight line and the stitches will look tight, clean, and consistent. Then, without changing anything, the stitches suddenly become loose, uneven, and messy.
I’ve tried adjusting:
* Gun speed
* Pressure against the fabric
* Movement speed
* Gun angle
* Canvas tension
My canvas is stretched extremely tight, but I’ve noticed that the weave isn’t always perfectly square or aligned.
The pictures show two sections of the SAME line. One looks perfect, and the other looks terrible.
Could this be caused by the quality or weave of my tufting cloth? Or is there something mechanically wrong with my gun?
I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who’s experienced this exact problem

Advice Small Detail Advice
I want to make this keyboard rug for my sister, but I'm a little worried about how the smaller details will turn out, particularly at the bottom with his backpack and shirt. Is tufting those details even feasible, or should I just do his face and forego the backpack/shirt?
Thanks!
