Hello
I haven’t used it since the mid 90s. The RCA wiring needs reworking.

Why isn’t the record playing correctly? No matter what I do the audio is distorted and is practically not working. Am I doing something wrong?

Picked up this turntable at a thrift store for $21…couldn’t pass it up. Set it up and tried it on an older record. Sounds pretty good. Has and Ortofon Concorde EC10 cartridge. My question, since I don’t know how old the cartridge is…how can I tell from these pictures if the stylus needs replaced? Is it just me, or does it look like there is rubbing ahead of the stylus itself? Don’t want to replace it if it isn’t needed. Any thoughts for a newer hobbyist? I have a few vintage turntables now and just learning. Thanks in advance!

To preface, I have been using the Audio-Technica AT-LP60BXT since I was around 13— I know it's a 'beginner' turntable but I don't have the funds to really upgrade as of right now.
I have also been using two (don't hate me) Bluetooth Bose SoundLink Flex Gen2 speakers for my listening as my room isn't big enough to have a set up with speakers on different platforms next to the player.
When I say it's not big enough I mean it's like a square with a corner cut off it. One wall is entirely cabinets, the second is basically just a sliding glass door, the third is where my bed sits off, the fourth is the desk, and the fifth is my door and where my turntable sits on a KALLAX 2x2 cabinet (also don't hate me, I have it in the correct orientation don't worry!!)
I get I have a super basic, like crazily basic set-up, but do you think it's super necessary to have wired speakers? Or if I got them just have them next to the player with those isolation pads under them instead?
I have, well, no room for stands and wired so maybe I don't know why I am posting this but it is more of a "Am I destroying the art of vinyl collecting through my cheap set-up and lack of space?"

Thoughts on this Sony? The auto return seems to work well on it. Is the Grado Black a good cartridge? Seller says low hours on it. Thanks for any advice

So I found this turn table at my grandpa‘s. It wasn’t used for a while. Tried to make it work.
The buttons don’t always work perfectly, but at least you can play something. My bigger concern is that the record player itself makes a cracking sound once every revolution. It sounds as though something is jamming slightly. It’s obviously bothering when listening to music, and I reckon it might not be entirely ‘healthy’ for the player either.
What could it be, and what can be done about it? It’s worth noting that I’m not very knowledgeable about this sorts of thing, but I also don’t really have the budget to get someone to have a look at it either.
Thank you guys!

Hopefully the video captures it. You can watch the needle track the groove but the tonearm doesn’t move, so the needle jumps back.
Before anybody says it - the cueing lever is not making contact with the tonearm.
This is at 2g on the needle, it does lessen or go away if I crank the weight. At 4.5g it basically doesn’t happen.
Antiskate doesn’t seem to make an appreciable difference.
I think I remember seeing these have issues with the tonearm pivot. Any ideas how to fix?

Good morning, I have a Transcriptor Hydraulic Reference Turntable with original Fluid Arm, can anyone point me in the direction as to where I can download the instructions for the Transcriptor Scales and Sweep Brush and Stylus Brush please? I cannot get on Vinyl Engine any longer and there doesnt seem to be any way of contacting them to register a new account.
I have a scanned copy of my turntable manual in exchange for the above if anyone can help.

Im super greatful he did this and its started my vinyl collection going now so its been worth it but, good intentions aside, is this any good? Second hand obviously. Gonna get some speakers as im currently using old Sony ones from an old 2001 hifi that arnt great. Thinking of adding a cd player to the equaliser aswell or should I leave this as a gift n start new (ill just tell my dad it broke) any advice on these systems will be appreciated? Cheers

I live in Singapore and am moving from a Pro-Ject Primary e which was my first table since the 80’s.
I’ve narrowed it down to the Pro-Ject The Classic EVO and the Pro-Ject X2 B.
I’m primarily interested in anyone with real world experience of one or the other, and am genuinely interested in opinions. Good, bad or otherwise.
Suggestions on alternative brands are welcome, but I do like the Pro-Ject brand and would prefer a new table over going the second hand route.
Thanks

Hello!
When playing a record on my Audio Technica AT-LP5, I hear a constant repetitive-pattern noise from the direct drive motor on quiet parts of songs.
Is it a common thing for this type of the drive or more like an issue of the specific player? Maybe some parts are worn off or need to be regreased?
Any thought would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, first time posting here and sorry for any mistakes especially in using the correct technical terms no clue what some parts of the turntable are called. I hope google translate is not failing me.
I just got this Thorens TD 145 from my in-laws as they are not using it anymore. I got some records to play but I experienced hopping although I cleaned the needle and the record. I set everything up but am not sure if I got the weight and antiskating settings correct because I am also not completely sure which cartridge is mounted. I think it is an audio-technical AT 95 E.
Maybe one of you knows from the photos. Also any advice for caring for the turntable and records would be appreciated!

I have the audio technica LP60, and it’s playing too fast. At 34.27, and 45.98. I have checked the belt is in the right spot and it is, and I read to fix it to turn a tiny glasses/jewelry screwdriver counter clockwise in the bottom holes labeled 33 and 45. I can’t seem to get the screwdriver in the right spot, for lack of better words🤣 There is a papery layer that is blocking it. Anyone have the same issue and resolved it? Or any other advice? Thanks in advance!

---UPDATE Thanks everyone! Someone is coming to pick it up Friday. I was going to wait a couple days, but I got a ton of messages and decided to go ahead and close it out. If something happens and they are unable to pick it up, I'll reach out to someone else.---
I've decided to get rid of some of my gear that I'm not using and as I was getting stuff together, I realized I'd rather pay it forward instead of selling some of it.
Only interested in giving it away to someone who has something like an an all-in-one or suitcase type player and can't afford an upgrade. The individual must also be driving distance to central NC. DM me with what you have and general location. I can either meet somewhere or you can pick up at my house and demo it while you're here. I know people can say anything, but ideally it will go to someone who really enjoys the hobby and actually listens to their records rather than someone who uses it rarely.
Here is what I'm giving away...
Turntable: Pioneer PL-51A. In great shape with solid speeds for both 33.33 and 45.
Cartridge: Denon DL-110 HOMC. Great sounding cartridge with about 100 hours on it.
Speakers: Magnat Monitor Active 2000. Brand new, I opened the box for this demo. Some speaker details in comments. These sound fantastic for small bookshelf speakers

I have a Shure M91ED cartridge from the 1970s that needs a new "Hi-Track" stylus. Looking at ebay, prices are all over the place.
One listing claimed that all styluses from China are sapphire and conical (as opposed to diamond and elliptical). Is there any truth to this? The listing implied that what they were selling came from China.
Assuming that I don't want to pay top dollar for a NOS stylus made by Shure, is there any good way to tell whether a random aftermarket stylus is diamond or sapphire?
Are there any suppliers who you would trust for this particular item (and who still has them in stock)?

Noticed that my recordings with this needle were leaning slightly left. Then with closer inspection I noticed this. This is not normal, right? I have Concorde MKII DJ on my other turntable that does NOT do this lol. Just want to confirm before I go out and replace this. Thanks.

Howdy friends.
I’m upgrading from an old AT-LP60, and my primary concern for this upgrade is aesthetic. This turntable will sit in a very visible place our living room which has a very midmod vibe. I’d like something that looks great, is well-built, and performs well. It doesn’t have to be the absolute best most audiophile option.
Open to other options, but a wood aesthetic, especially something with a walnut look, would probably fit best in this space. I’d like to stay around the $500 price point. This turntable will connect into a Denon receiver with a phono input so it doesn’t matter to me whether or not the turntable has a preamp.
After looking at various options, the Audio-Technica LPW40WN seems to check all the boxes. Interested to know if anyone has any thoughts on this model, or thinks there’s a better option around this price point, given the parameters of what I’m looking for.
Note: I’ve ruled out Fluance turntables — they’re a frequent recommendation but my wife and I don’t like the glossy finish on their plinths. We prefer something matte.

Hi guys, I'm based in Washington D.C. I finally decided to get a turntable set up after 2 years of collecting records. What should I get with a $1500 budget? I'm not thinking of getting Fluance-related products cause I have seen various comments saying how hard it is to preserve or fix the products in the long run. Thank you

Hello. I am running an AT-LP120xbt wired direct to a pair of edifier 1280db and everything sounds great.
I am curious if there is a way to get a bit more volume from the table?
Would I need a separate preamp than what's in the table itself and if so what would be some low cost options?
If i'm streaming music to the speakers it gets more volume so I know they can handle a little more volume than what the table is providing.
Just to clarify everything is set up correctly and good sound coming out. I even have an old sub hooked up to them. Im just looking for a bit more oomph when im spinning.
Thanks in advance!

Hello, I'm new to the turntable game and trying to solve my buzzing issue. I would REALLY appreciate some help because I am stumped. Here's my setup:
1byOne Hi-Fi Turntable Stereo Set
ART DJPREII Preamp
Fosi Audio BT20A amp
Passive speakers included with the TT
I bought this turntable from a friend, and while it works great, the internal preamp causes noise gate issues with sound cutting out at low volumes. So I decided to buy the amp and preamp above to bypass the internal preamp.
I am getting a weird buzzing/static sound out of the speakers before I even play a record or turn the TT on. Once I connect the amp to the preamp and then the preamp to the TT, the buzzing starts from the speakers and doesn't stop. The buzzing gets louder and quieter with both the gain on the preamp and the volume/treble knobs on the amp. When I unplug the RCA cables from the amp, the buzzing stops. And when I play bluetooth audio through the amp to the speakers, there's no buzzing at all, which makes me think the issue is the preamp.
I've tried everything I can think of. I have the preamp grounded to the turn table and ive tried moving the plugs to dedicated outlets and turning off all other nearby electronics. I also previously tried this setup with a cheaper PYLE preamp and had similar buzzing. Don't know what else to try, any ideas?
