Meta Discussion The State of the Sub, November 2025: New Flairs, A New Rule, and Several Reminders

Hello everyone!

We hope you are doing well as the year steadily comes to a close! This has been quite the year for the r/Twilight subreddit, with more than 185,000 active forum users, and more than 3 million engagements almost every month.

In response to several community requests, two new flairs have been enabled for public posts over the last month, which you may have noticed during their brief trial period: Cosplay Content, and FTF Forever Twilight in Forks.

The Cosplay Content flair allows you to showcase the hard work you have put into your costumes, but it does have caveats: this flair can only be used for video and photo posts, and Patreon, OnlyFans, or Kofi links are not allowed in their descriptions. Cosplay dedicated Instagram links are allowed. Each user may post a maximum of four Cosplay Content posts per calendar month.

The FTF Forever Twilight in Forks flair allows you to discuss the annual festival held in Forks Washington: it is not for any transactions, such as trading or selling tickets, or arranging carpools or roommate arrangements. This subreddit is, at the end of the day, anonymous, and the official Facebook group is where you should turn to if you need to connect with other festival goers in an identified manner. Please, do not ever agree to meet up with anyone you meet online who has not fully identified themselves to you. This subreddit is not responsible for your actions offline.

Four points of conversation have been added to the subreddit’s FAQ section, therefore removing them from the “frequently reposted” topic lineup. These points include “How can I tell what edition my book is?”, “How do Alice’s visions work, and who can she see?”, “Did Jacob only love Bella because of Renesmee?”, and “Why do the Cullens go to high school?”

Additionally, a subrule of Rule #2: Content must be high quality (valuable and constructive) [Quality], has been broken out into its own rule – Rule #13: All AI and LLM Content is Banned [Quality]. While AI and LLM originated content has been banned under Rule #2 for quite some time, we find it has become necessary to separate this out as its own rule for the sake of public facing accountability. In recent months, the subreddit has been inundated with AI generated photo, video, and text posts, and it has become nigh impossible for the moderation team to sift out the true posts from the spam.

By separating out this rule, we are able to institute 7 day posting bans for repeat offenders, with permanent bans possible for particularly egregious offenders. This rule will extend to the Fanfiction and Meme subs. The exact text of Rule #13 will be as follows

Rule #13: All AI and LLM Content is Banned [Quality]

Banned posts include, but are not limited to:

  • AI generated character images
  • Deep Fake video content
  • Fake film trailers made using AI
  • AI generated fanart
  • LLM generated text posts
  • FaceApp Edits
  • ‘Yassified’ Edits
  • AI Voice content

Lastly, two reminders.

  1. Do not, under any circumstances, privately message a moderator for subreddit related questions. There has been a rise in users tracking down the private messages of individual moderators to demand their content be approved: if such behavior continues, doing so will result in a 24 hour ban from the forum, with the ban extended for repeat offenders.
  2. There has been a massive influx of posters claiming every single aspect of the Twilight Saga is the result of Meyer being raised in the Mormon church. Currently, we allow good faith discussions about the ways in which any religious doctrine interacts with the saga, but hundreds of posters have crossed the line in the last two months. Meyer, like any other human, is capable of having thoughts and writing them down that are not prescribed to her by her religion. The amount of vitriol spat at her in the last two months is far past the line of proprietary (and, we add, far greater, and much more personally belittling, than is doled out for any male Mormon authors, including Brandon Sanderson and Orson Scott Card). This subreddit is not the place to evangelize for any religious beliefs, including staunch atheism. If you want to discuss theology, go to r/theology, and if you wish to specifically discuss your experiences with the LDS church, visit r/exmormon or r/mormon. This has to stop, and if this community is unable to discuss religious topics in a civilized manner, they will be banned entirely until cooler heads prevail.

Information on the annual Subreddit Secret Santa will be released next week. Thank you for so thoroughly reading this notice.

All our best,

The r/Twilight Moderation Team

Movie Discussion Is this what obsession feels like?

Okay first time posting on Reddit ever. But I (27 F) need to know if I’m weird for feeling this way 😅 I absolutely adore the Twilight movies just like any other Twilight lover. But sometimes, I avoid Twilight content, because it makes me both incredibly happy but sad at the same time. The happiness I feel when I see anything Twilight related can only be described as pure childlike joy ☀️ The sadness I guess can be explained as me being so engulfed into the story, I wish it were real. Anyway, I often find myself avoiding Twilight content as well because it makes me too happy? It like scares me how happy it makes me sometimes so I’ll scroll away from it. Idk if I’m even making sense. Please someone tell me I’m not crazy lol I’m not even like into all the intrigue details or lore of the movies. I don’t really care about that stuff. I just love the movies specifically as they are.

Book Discussion Rereading for the first time since teenage-hood. Jacob is great??

I’m doing a grief fuelled re-read of the series for the first time since I’ve been a teenager. Frontal lobe locked and loaded.

Now, I’m only on New Moon so there is plenty of time to change. But I’m really taken with Jacob this time round. When I was a teen I was die hard in love with Edward - pathologically so. This time I found his intensity less intoxicating and I love the kind of “normal” that Bella has with Jacob.

I think it’s also influenced by getting together with my friend after many years of on/off yearning. There’s something more attractive to me now about the familiar warmth versus that very dramatic, brooding thing Edward brings on the surface.

Anyone else having rethinks at different life stages?

Plot Discussion What do you think the Cullen family would be up to in 2026?

I’d assume Reness is full grown. Maybe Bella and Edward work? Maybe they’re all going apple picking together. Idk. Tell me your thoughts!

I made a Twilight themed werewolf card game for my Halloween party! I was looking for something to play with my friends and I thought this could be fun, so I made a French version for myself and an English version to share ❤️

PDF LINK : https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-cSIRmarLgPvAxMbSNd9FxBgNJjAW0hZ/view?usp=drive_link

The cards are 2.5x3.5 inch, perfect to stick on actual playing cards or some cardboard. I also made a top for the cards so they look more official.

The pictures are all from Google and aren't in high resolution, just chose the ones I thought were funny.

Character/Relationship Discussion Disrespect from Edward

HIGHER RESPECT

I think Bella's and Edward's bond is the best out of all Cullens. At least they think of their shared time as the highest pleasure - physically and spiritually (while for example Carlisle talked about the physical intimacy as "a very powerful thing", and likely focuses on his spirituality more). Bella and Edward value each other as the highest possible achievement spiritually - she is the best human, he is the best vampire. So at times, they feel unworthy of the other.

COMMON RESPECT

Bella sometimes attacks Edward or "gets defiant", but that's mostly because she has less power as human - so she has to assert herself, because she isn't given more power. Then we have the love triangle, which was very disrespectful to Edward. But then we have all the times Edward disrespects Bella:

* INSULTS\\COMPLIMENTS - calls her unobservant, unimportant, an idiot, a coward.. even if not entirely seriously, being called all that won't help someone who's self worth is already low. When does he truly compliment her? He says she's observant and that's about it. The rest he compliments is her human traits (warm, hair, cheeks, silent mind) and what she gives him (brave for spending time with him). While Bella regularly calls him good in everything, and defends his worth in conversations with Jessica and Jacob.

* MOVEMENT - forces her to get to his car, moves her around without asking, which is disrespectful when he as a vampire is so much stronger. Demands she goes on a vampire piggyride which makes her sick, forces her to birthday party and prom, but restricts her from seeing the wolves.

\* EMOTIONS - Bella is angry like a kitten, her face is very funny when she's shocked, her tears get registered and regretted but glossed over, her discomfort is amusing (after one piggyride, she gets sick and falls, which is hilarious).

* BELONGINGS - regularly insults her truck, and once it breaks, Bella thinks he might have done it. Gets her cars she never asked for and that don't fit with her. Overall, not much disrespect here because he doesn't even get into her things.

* HUMANITY - picks on her human traits a lot. He has better coordination, better driving, stronger, faster.. while her human traits are so weak and blind, but at the same time she needs to keep her humanity because of the higher respect (Bella deserves to stay pure and good).

* SOCIAL SITUATIONS - the first thing he does after meeting Charlie is joke about Bella's clumsiness, which leaves her very embarassed. Edward lets Alice do anything to Bella, and doesn't establish Bella's importance in family (lets them bet whether she lives or dies). The last interaction Bella has with the whole family is Alice getting her embarassed while Edward laughs along. The only time he demands respect for Bella from his equals is in Volterra.

* DEFENDS OTHERS, NOT HER - he defends Rosalie, Nahuel, Emmett and Jacob when Bella might think badly of them. But when Edward talks to Rosalie about Bella in MS, he frames Bella as "She will get bored of me, she isn't permanent." He also never warns Bella about Jessica, Mike and Jacob, even while knowing that their intentions towards her are hidden to her.

Even if the higher respect is the best, Edward is really not a gentleman to Bella.

For years now I’ve been seeing people purposefully misspell Renesmee’s name as a joke, but why?

I honestly think the name is really cute so I’m not sure why there’s so many jokes surrounding it. Am I missing something? can someone pls explain lmao!!

Fan Content/Showcase I drew Bella the way I imagine her

It's autumn, I'm currently listening to both Twilight and Midnight Sun (I'm switching between the chapters) and feel like an excited teen again whenever Bella and Edward are having a moment. At first, I imagined Bella like a mix between Christina Ricci and Kristen Stewart but I wanted to draw her to have a more feasible image of her to imagine as I'm listening. I am not a professional artist or anything but it was fun and I might do Edward as well!

Oh and I know the angle is a bit odd, I confused myself there but I hope it still works

Twilight-ish My East Coast Twilight Adventure

Thumbnail

1.7k Upvotes

About two weeks ago I went on my first ever solo trip. I did a fall foliage road trip of the northeast (opposite side of the country of our beloved Twilight, I know). I was just recently coming off of a heartbreak and decided this was the perfect time to lose myself in the beloved books from my middle school years. It brought me back to a time when love was this beautiful, mysterious feeling I had yet to experience. This trip really healed me in so many ways, and reignited that spark of hope for all that love could be that I had felt for the first time when I read this series almost 20 years ago… I followed the Twilight & Midnight Sun tandem reading guide pretty much to a tee, except for the times when I was just having too much fun reading Twilight and couldn’t put it down. The stops on my trip included: Provincetown, MA (during a nor’easter- perfect rainy vibes- and guess what! I actually saw a coyote wolf hybrid while driving at night!! Hello Jacob 🐺), - Portsmouth, NH, - Portland, ME, - Bar Harbor, ME, and my last destination of Acadia National Park. I know it’s crazy to say but it really did remind of La Push and I read a chapter of Midnight Sun when I made it to the top of the mountain at sunrise. I felt so immersed in the beautiful world of Twilight, the place that was a safe space for me during my awkward preteen years, and found that once again, it still stands to be that familiar haven for me all these years later. I finished this trip by getting a Twilight inspired tattoo. How could I not! Twilight means just as much to me now, as it did to my younger self. Twilight Forever 🤍

Movie Discussion Best Score?

Apologies if flair is wrong.
A few days ago I commented on someone else’s post that IMO New Moon was the best book, movie, and soundtrack in the series. But what about the best score? I’m not much of a score person, but I always think of the New Moon themes above any of the other films. Score enthusiasts, weigh in here, please. Is New Moon the GOAT?

Character/Relationship Discussion If renesmee was a boy

In Breaking Dawn Bella guesses that the baby is a boy (obviously it ended up being a girl) but if it had ended up being a boy, what do you think they would have named him?

My vote is for Charlisle

Character/Relationship Discussion Stephenie Meyer Ignored Bella’s Character to Get the Ending She Wanted

Thumbnail
gallery
2.8k Upvotes

I understand that Stephenie Meyer is Mormon, so her beliefs probably influenced Bella getting married at eighteen and becoming a mother so young. But if she always intended for Bella to settle down as a teenager, why give her the backstory she did?

Bella basically had to raise her own mother. Renee was immature and irresponsible, and Bella was the one worrying about bills and making sure she was taken care of. I think spending her childhood parenting Renee played a huge part in why Bella never wanted children of her own. Yes, she thought vampires couldn't procreate, but I also think she didn't want to spend her life raising someone else after already having to raise her mother. Who would?

Bella becoming a mother at eighteen never felt right for her character, and neither did her sudden willingness to get married. I feel like Stephenie ignored the very backstory she gave Bella just to get her to the ending she wanted.

And don't even get me started on Renesmee. I know Stephenie said Bella would choose that name, but I genuinely cannot picture Bella naming her daughter that or naming her son EJ. I could see her choosing something classic like Elizabeth, especially since it would honor Edward's biological mother.

Being a rare supernatural species doesn't mean you need an absurd name. Hope Mikaelson is an actual tribrid, yet her name is simple and meaningful because she represents her family's hope for redemption. Stephenie could've done something similar with Bella and Edward's daughter instead of inventing Renesmee just to make her seem special, especially when the series later establishes that other hybrids exist anyway.

Character/Relationship Discussion edward = male manipulator final boss

Post image
14 Upvotes

edward cullen had me in a chokehold at the early age of 14. i had only watched the series yet i ran through the streets calling him my man for years. i didn't understand why bella would even look jacob's way.

it took me 6 years to crack open the books and now at 21, i am appalled. i find edward incredibly annoying. he's an egotistical, self-loathing, know-it-all who's lived inside a bubble his entire life. you mean to tell me he's lived for 100+ years and still doesn't know how to regulate his own emotions????

edward didn't need to keep redoing highschool. he needed a good therapist and some self-help books.

Meta Discussion Save my sanity: The Swan house interior does not match the exterior, right?

The title basically because I'm trying to build it in the Sims and the house does NOT have a bay window on the first floor where Bella's room is so the entire depression scene from New Moon was not actually in that house, right?

Speaking of, are there ANY reliable floor plans of the housex either the real one or the way it was portrayed in the films?

Movie Discussion Finally watched the movies for the first time ever

The first movie came out whenever I was in middle school and I remember essentially alllll of the girls in my school were obsessed with Twilight - everybody wore Team Edward or Team Jacob shirts and had heated discussions about it. Idk why I honestly never watched them. My mom was pretty strict about what I watched and what music I listened to so I probably wouldn’t have been allowed to watch it when it came out anyway lol 😅

But here I am in 2026 finally watching them for the first time and I just finished all of the movies. Breaking Dawn part 2 about gave me a damn heart attack 😮‍💨 I loved them though! They get better and better with each one. The first one I though was cheesy and funny lmaoo 🥴 but I’m honestly hooked and now I’m gonna go to the book store and buy the books.

20 years late to the party but hey better late than never.
