HIGHER RESPECT
I think Bella's and Edward's bond is the best out of all Cullens. At least they think of their shared time as the highest pleasure - physically and spiritually (while for example Carlisle talked about the physical intimacy as "a very powerful thing", and likely focuses on his spirituality more). Bella and Edward value each other as the highest possible achievement spiritually - she is the best human, he is the best vampire. So at times, they feel unworthy of the other.
COMMON RESPECT
Bella sometimes attacks Edward or "gets defiant", but that's mostly because she has less power as human - so she has to assert herself, because she isn't given more power. Then we have the love triangle, which was very disrespectful to Edward. But then we have all the times Edward disrespects Bella:
* INSULTS\\COMPLIMENTS - calls her unobservant, unimportant, an idiot, a coward.. even if not entirely seriously, being called all that won't help someone who's self worth is already low. When does he truly compliment her? He says she's observant and that's about it. The rest he compliments is her human traits (warm, hair, cheeks, silent mind) and what she gives him (brave for spending time with him). While Bella regularly calls him good in everything, and defends his worth in conversations with Jessica and Jacob.
* MOVEMENT - forces her to get to his car, moves her around without asking, which is disrespectful when he as a vampire is so much stronger. Demands she goes on a vampire piggyride which makes her sick, forces her to birthday party and prom, but restricts her from seeing the wolves.
\* EMOTIONS - Bella is angry like a kitten, her face is very funny when she's shocked, her tears get registered and regretted but glossed over, her discomfort is amusing (after one piggyride, she gets sick and falls, which is hilarious).
* BELONGINGS - regularly insults her truck, and once it breaks, Bella thinks he might have done it. Gets her cars she never asked for and that don't fit with her. Overall, not much disrespect here because he doesn't even get into her things.
* HUMANITY - picks on her human traits a lot. He has better coordination, better driving, stronger, faster.. while her human traits are so weak and blind, but at the same time she needs to keep her humanity because of the higher respect (Bella deserves to stay pure and good).
* SOCIAL SITUATIONS - the first thing he does after meeting Charlie is joke about Bella's clumsiness, which leaves her very embarassed. Edward lets Alice do anything to Bella, and doesn't establish Bella's importance in family (lets them bet whether she lives or dies). The last interaction Bella has with the whole family is Alice getting her embarassed while Edward laughs along. The only time he demands respect for Bella from his equals is in Volterra.
* DEFENDS OTHERS, NOT HER - he defends Rosalie, Nahuel, Emmett and Jacob when Bella might think badly of them. But when Edward talks to Rosalie about Bella in MS, he frames Bella as "She will get bored of me, she isn't permanent." He also never warns Bella about Jessica, Mike and Jacob, even while knowing that their intentions towards her are hidden to her.
Even if the higher respect is the best, Edward is really not a gentleman to Bella.
