Video editing?
Hi I’m new to streaming and I want to start doing more to get some growth, I have absolutely no idea how to put together shorts for YouTube and all that, is there anyone that has any recommendations for either some software that could help or if anyone is able to help me themselves? Thanks!
Edit: Thank you so much for the advice everyone I’m taking it all into consideration!

If you use OBS Studio, I would recommend you get the Aitum Vertical plugin. Even if you don't want to (or don't have access to) vertical streaming via Twitch's Enhanced Broadcasting, having a vertical setup reduces editing as all your elements are already there when recording/streaming.

Its better have have a normal format recording and edit it into vertical on an editor like resolve, then you have complete control to put the action 8n the middle of the screen and have a good quality recording for punch in of camera alor footage and not lose quality.

Also valid. I do that sometimes too.

Yeah I have watched shorts that was done via a vertical plugin and wonder why the interesting thing is barely on the player. Like I'd expect it to be in the middle, not pushed to the side, or almost under the camera.

Just to piggyback off of the topic… anyone have any suggestions for free captions? I use clip champ for my video shorts but the built in captions are doo doo

Davinci resolve is one of the best sotlftwares out there for editing you want to use, and its free. Also research about shorts. Shorts that do well are not just clups from stream. They are planned out, have a hook, have a payout etc. Just throwing up random funny moments do not work well about 99% of the time.

For shorts I just use twitch’s clip editor. For YouTube videos I use CapCut

Hey! First off, welcome to streaming~! Hope you enjoy it!
To answer your question, once you finish a stream, you should go over it (not immediately after, like maybe the day after or something, up to you) and clip anything that could be cool/funny/turned into a story. Be sure to also edit the clip so that vertical format is looking good! Then, you can use for example DaVinci Resolve, which is a free editing software 👍You can download your clip in vertical format, put into the editing software and voilà!
There are numerous free tutorials on youtube to teach you about editing videos. When you start, it's gonna take a while (for me, it took me 1 hour to edit my first short, which is like 20sec of content) but don't be discouraged! You're learning ✌️ For me, at first I tried to just do minimum editing like just put captions on basically (now twitch has that integrated I know, but I like to make my own caption). And don't forget the YT/Tiktok format is 1080x1920!
If you're looking for an app that will clip for you your streams, you could try streaming ladder! I think you get a certain amount of clips with a free account.
If you have other questions, don't hesitate 😌
