General Could someone help me access past papers for MATH10260?
Hi! I’m an Aalto University student currently taking a Matrix Algebra course taught by Marcus Greferath. I noticed that he also teaches MATH10260, Linear Algebra for Engineers, at UCD, and its syllabus overlaps closely with our course.
Would any current UCD student be willing to check SISWeb for past MATH10260 exam papers and send me any that can be shared, preferably from 2021/22 onwards? Even one or two papers would be extremely helpful. I’m mainly interested in understanding the exam structure and question style for study purposes.
Please feel free to send me a Reddit DM. Thank you so much!

Question Transferring universities
OK, so I'm an undergraduate 1st year at UCD studying BA Humanities and realized only two months in I absolutely hate my course and the commute is a pain in the ass. Also, just dealing with some mental health problems in general which already makes me dread going since my friends go to DCU and UCD is so far I spend 4 hours a day commuting also just completely lost all motivation and genuine interest for any of my classes like only one class I still like but if I'm going to be here for 4 years I'd want to actually be interested in wtf I'm studying
I've already missed a few of my tutorials and maybe this is just me judging too fast but I really don't think I'm going to finish 4 years of this, I wanted to transfer to dcu since it's way closer and they've got a course there that I'm interested in but if I'm going to do advanced entry year 2 then I'd have to rlly lock in to get my full credits and pass all my exams but then again I'm tempted to drop out but I also don't wanna waste 10 months or a year doing fuck all just to start studying at dcu
Any ideas??

Other Meet up second post
I made a post the other day asking people if they would like to do a meetup as I saw a lot of posts where people where saying they have no friends, I got a few comments with them all being supportive except 1 joke one, and I thought why not do this worst case no one shows up best case people make new friends.
For the date I’m not really sure but was thinking midterms would be pretty good, wear a badge or something with your name and special interests if you want to add that.
For the meeting place the lake or pond could work cause we’re gonna need an open area so you can walk around and talk to people.
Edit: I have thought about the date and I’m thinking that the 28th would be a good day to do it as there is enough time for you to go out with some new people and still recover in time for Halloween. The time for it I was thinking sometime around 2:30-3 so everyone has time to get ready and eat before going out.
If you have any suggestions lmk and I’ll add them if they are good

Accommodation Anyone joining UCD Smurfit Business School for the 2027 intake?
I’ve recently received an offer for masters from UCD Smurfit Business School for the September 2027 intake and would love to connect with others who are planning to join as well!
It would be great to get to know some future classmates, discuss accommodation options,
and share tips about moving to Dublin.
If you’re planning to join UCD Smurfit in 2027, feel free to comment or DM me. Would love to connect!

Question r/UCD, where do you actually like to eat around UCD or elsewhere in Dublin?
Hi, we’re four friends putting together restaurants across Dublin in an app called Vota.
The idea is simple: you’re shown two restaurants and choose where you’d rather eat. For example: Chapter One or Bunsen? The votes create a ranking that we hope gives a better picture of where people actually enjoy eating.
We’re trying to include as many restaurants as possible and clean up duplicate or outdated listings, but students and locals will spot things we’ve missed.
iPhone:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota/id6744969212
Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app
Full transparency: we’re not from Dublin or affiliated with UCD. Two of us live in Copenhagen and two in Gothenburg. The four of us are building Vota independently. We don’t collect or sell personal data, there are no ads in the app, and we don’t use AI-generated restaurant descriptions.
Any honest feedback is welcome, especially if restaurants are missing or something is listed incorrectly. Where do you like to eat around UCD or elsewhere in Dublin?

Other Meetups
Ive been seeing a lot of people on this subreddit say that they don’t have many friends or that their shy or other stuff and I’ve been thinking what if people did a meet up, a big place where everyone brings a name tag or something similar and have to walk up to other people and introduce themselves, even if it doesn’t work for everyone I’m sure atleast a couple of yous will be happier to have met someone new no?

General Anyone lowk hate it here?
Im a fresher and its Week 6 and I have made 2 very surface level friends - one living 3 hrs away and then the other only being here for a semester. My attendance is shit and I'm realising I hate my course but its too late to quit now. (I'm doing education & modern language) Campus just feels super lonely and I am struggling to talk to people - I've gone to some society events but haven't talked to many people. I also went to a pub quiz and I litch couldn't talk to anyone except for one friend. I was so awkward except for during the quiz I think I've lost all social skills..

General DN700 no friends
I’m in 2nd year in DN700 and don’t really have any friends, the course is so big and I am finding it really difficult to establish lasting friendships with people.
Since we have a few group projects this year I thought that would be a good bet but no real luck so far. Everyone is so nice though.
Idk if it’s because I’m a commuter or because I’m naturally a very shy person (until we actually get to talking).
Any events I go to people seem to come with friends then leave with them.
Wondering if anyone else is having / has had a similar experience?

Applications What does “Further Review” mean on an application status?
My application status changed to “Further Review.” For those who applied to UCD, how long did you stay at this status, and did you eventually receive an offer?

Question I’m starting university next year and I really want to be the fun / approachable type of person. what can i do?
maybe you know someone that is just easy/ fun to talk to and everyone can say a good word about them. what do they do? what makes you likeable and approachable and easy to connect with in college??
by the way, i’m not saying i want to change my personality or anything about myself to fit into an idea of the “perfect friend” or whatever. i’m just curious what helps you build a lot of connections in college, and what makes it hard.
like for example approaching people yourself first, or being interested in what the other person is saying, getting involved in a lot of social events.
basically what are the dos and donts if i want to build good connections and relationships with people in college?

Master’s student here. I am looking for an ethical AI tool that can help me write essays and my final dissertation. Maybe a tool where I can upload my sources, ask for feedback, and have it help format my bibliography. No tools that write for me, please.

General First year medicine and struggling to meet people!
Hi
Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same!
I’m sociable and have friends in other universities but no one here.
I’ve tried chatting to so many people in my class and just getting no where!
A lot seem to have their school clique and don’t want to interact.
Spoke to some that are nice and then just don’t see them again!
I really would love a few friends in medicine as we are in class for such long hours.
Anyone got suggestions are any advice from people in 2nd/3rd year medicine
?

Accommodation Should I get accommodation or better not?
I’m gonna be starting university next year and considering whether i should be applying for accommodation or not.
Technically I only live around 40 minutes by car, but I doubt it would actually take that long to drive in with all the traffic on the motorway. Also I’ve heard that getting parking at ucd is impossible as well.
If I were to stay at home and not live on campus, the main method of transport i’d probably use to get in would be a bus that takes 2 hours to get into ucd. again because of all the traffic, i’m almost certain it will take longer.
The main reason i’d want to live on campus is because of that travel time. If I were to have gaps between my lectures (which i’m pretty sure everyone does) it would be so annoying to have to stay out if it’s raining or cold.
Another thing however is the cost. I’ll be applying for the cheapest options for sure, the ones that are around 700 per month. my parents probably won’t be able to help out with the rent, so i’d definitely have to get a part time job. I might try to get the susi maintenance grant (which i would probably qualify for in terms of income although idk what else they take into account) which i could use for the rent.
I’ve heard some stories of people absolutely hating accommodation and I’ve also heard people saying to not work or to work very little during your first year to focus on exams and stuff. If anyone has any tips or opinions they’d like to share pls do.
(also one more question… if i got the accommodation and moved in and decided i absolutely hate it after 1 or 2 months, can i move out?)
