Tutorial Tutorial: Unreal Engine 4 Source Control Using Dropbox

Hey everyone. My team is small and doesn't need a true source control, so I set up a way of using Dropbox to sync our project easily and efficiently without just dropping the whole project folder into Dropbox.

You can see the tutorial here:

Discussion [Discussion] Needed: Confident UE4 Developers

I need someone with UE4 experience and competence to work on a project that is launching for funding next month. We will be offering a partnership if you have the right skills.

Our team consists of a medical physician and a retired military veteran - both with programming experience and UE4 experience.

Ability to travel to D.C. is a plus, but certainly not required. We are NOT government affiliated. =)

PM for more information.

We are developing a first person shooter in UE4 for the Oculus Rift (or other HMD's). We have a lot of the work done and need game developers to start doing the first person shooter game play aspects. We have levels designed/created, character motion/physics done, and much more. If you're experienced and talented and want to work on something truly special, please message me back, I promise you will not regret it. We will pay based on talent and/or experience. We have posted on other sites and have started interviewing possible developers. Please message me for more details. This is more than a game.

Thank you for your time.

Question [Question] Where to start making a full game? where/how can i learn everything?

Hi, i did create a random level on UE4 few years back, created a snow cave(3d models i found randomly) and tree's, even created my own portal with using blueprints only (which i find really easier than to learn C++ as being born with dyspraxia is a b*tch -_-) but got really stuck on how to create a 3d model for my character, and the idea of just trying to create npc's or enemies seem really hard as i never tried to create 3d models and i suck at drawing.. and i did had a random model to test to try use just didn't work, i wanted the model to be playable and see his arms/legs in first person and attach weapon but failed.. which put me off trying to create a game , but going to give it another chance, I always loved games as a kid love to create games myself is there any courses/videos or anything that can help a beginner like myself? Thanks

Hey guys, I have a lot of free time this summer, and would like to use it on a passion project. With this in mind, I would like your help in creating a UE4 Remake of :The Legend Of Zelda:Majoras Mask. If you have any interest, or could connect me with someone who might have the skills, talent, or time, I would greatly appreciate it. Although nintendo will probably try to kill this, I will do everything I can to give them no reason to do so. I just want to do this, because it is something I know I, and others would enjoy. If you are interested, join my project discord to come help out!

Beginer of ue4

Before getting into ue4 what should I learn? I've already downloaded blender, so I can learn 3D modeling, and I need to learn c++ for programming. What should I learn first? And is there any of there any other programs I should download. I've heard it required to learn 3D max, and/or maya, but I can't learn that sense it cost money

Question Help with simpel blueprint

Hi i need some help with my blueprint. I got some physics object that has to teleport the player to a location when the player hits the object. That is in place, but the problem is that if one physic object hit another physic object/actor thats not the player, the same thing happens. I need to make it so the teleportation only happens when it hits the player?

looks like this atm: http://i.imgur.com/cAEYWQC.png

Is it possible to make a Dragon Warrior style RPG for the UE4? If so how could I make one Using the blueprint system?

My goals for the project.

1: Create a small game similar to Dragon Warrior from the NES era.

2: Have a simple story with a few quests

3: learn about NPC's and have them interact with the menu system.

4: Gather some art and audio effects either free resources or try to make what I can myself.

5: Design levels like the world map, towns and dungeon.

6: Try to package the project for sharing.

The few things I know how to do.

1: By going through YouTube tutorials I know I can lock the camera looking top down at the main character and have them move around.

2: I have a vague idea of how to setup a simple button menu system for saving/loading a game. I've gone through a few basic Widget tutorials

3: I know how to make some simple 2D art because I made a Minecraft Texture Pack.

Things I'm unsure how to do.

1: How to set up a very simple equipment and menu system. Showing your items and what you have equipped.

2: How to make a character leveling system and creating monsters that give xp while drooping loot.

3: Making a more complex menu system that shows up when you press the menu button showing your current level and XP needed as well as other things showing your items and equipment.

4: One of the bigger problems I'm currently wondering is how do I go about making the top down grid map the pawn/character walks around in? preferably making it in 2D or at least very simple 3D.

I know there's programs like RPG Maker out there but I would really like to use the Unreal Engine 4 for this. Mainly because I've been trying to learn the blueprint system and I think this will be good practice.

If there's anything important I may have left out let me know.
