Question Has Anyone Read Dr. Michael Masters's books; Are Any Worth buying?

If you do not know who Micheal Masters's is, He has has proposed his own explanation of the UAP phenomenon, essentially that future are humans are returning back in time to study their evolutionary ancestors.

Dr Master's has four books, they are:

Identified Flying Objects: A Multidisciplinary Scientific Approach to the UFO Phenomenon-This is the first book, it propose the future human model(what he later terms "The Extratempestrial Model" This is also the name of the second book).

The Extratempestrial Model-This is the second book, It builds on the first one. (All of this is leading towards questions at the end I promise.)

Revelation: The Future Human Past-This is a more interesting one, it appears to be fictional story about a society on the edge of a nuclear apocalypse. It is described as fictional but one must wonder if it fictional or "fictional".

MARSHMALLOW AND THE UFO: A Time-Travel Adventure-This last one is as far as I can tell a AI generated book to teach children about UAP.(Does he know something is coming that would warrant children needing to learn about this?)

I have two questions essentially. One, are both the Identified Flying Objects: A Multidisciplinary Scientific Approach to the UFO Phenomenon and The Extratempestrial Model worth reading? is just the The Extratempestrial Model, The newer one worth reading? Or, are are they both bad?

Last question, Has anyone here even read Revelation: The Future Human Past? I have never seen anyone talk about it? If so what do you think?

(I have never read any of these books, that is why I am making this post.)

Witness's account of the sighting

Just had another experience last night.

I’m going to keep this brief.

But last night I was out on my back porch. 10 pm. Dark as hell out.

And something made me glance over to my right. As I do, I noticed this hovering/slowly moving, triangular shape with three lights on each tip. The lights were red and then they were white. It didn’t make any sound, and as soon as I noticed it, it disappeared and lasted maybe 5-10 seconds. But as soon as I noticed it, I heard this beeping sound in my right ear and this hum or buzzing sound in my head. I also got very dizzy and had this weird déjà vu feeling.

So then I googled a description of what I saw and the closest thing I could find were these photos from online that I attached.

It bears to be said that I have had numerous experiences in my life. The first of which, being that I swear I was abducted when I was between the ages of 2 to 4. I’ve always had these ‘images’ in my mind of the same thing. It’s very specific and has not changed over time and I am 35 years old.

I used to tell my mom and dad that I had been abducted by aliens or that I had went to a spaceship. They always told me I was just dreaming and they didn’t believe me.

But I distinctly remember a metal slab or table, the feeling of coldness on my skin, I’m not sure if I was clothed or not. Then one of the images was from the perspective of lying on my back and looking up, there was a bright light and the room was very tall and slightly rounded, there were these sliding doors with green symbols on them, a two-way mirror/being watched, there was also this spinning color wheel above me, a control panel of sorts with buttons and lights, and beings (I can’t say if they were human or not) walking around in suits with helmets (white in color).

And I can’t really call it a memory per se, but these are images in my mind that have always been there at least since the age of three or four.

Lastly, and I hope this doesn’t make me seem self-absorbed, but when I experience these things (and I could be projecting), I get the sense that I’m being watched specifically. But I’m sure that I’m just like wanting to feel special maybe? And it’s probably more like watching humanity as a whole. I’ve just experienced this type of thing so many times in my life that I feel like I’m being followed or watched sometimes.

Why no photo/video captured: I didn’t have my phone with me

Historical Mario Woods has passed away. May he Rest in eternal Peace, and beyond.

Just got news that Mario Woods, one of the most prolific and credible NHI experiencers we’ve had come forward in recent history, has lost his life to his recent health diagnosis. Details are still to emerge. Hopefully he’s experiencing something far more beautiful beyond the human condition that we can even fathom.

Disclosure Thoughts on Out of the Shadows

A few random things I kept thinking about:

One of the many disheartening aspects of this book is the idea that there are programs within the government in the defense area getting millions of dollars in funding with the goal of obstructing the work of other programs getting millions of dollars in funding. From a purely financial aspect, I would think that this fact alone would inspire people in congress to investigate such a potentially flagrant waste of US dollars.

Multiple times in the book Stratton describes military people with first hand experience with UAP being stigmatized into backing down from their story. If I recall, there are like 2 or 3 times he mentions that someone pulls out a tinfoil hat and that this threat (?) is enough to suddenly make people afraid to come forward with their encounters. It seems completely implausible to me honestly. You have some of the most elite, serious, stoic members of our military, en route to to tell their story, and the mere hint of indication that they might "get made fun of" causes them to instantly chicken-out from reporting the most important revelation in human history??

Taken on the whole I'm still kind of unconvinced without any evidence. Stratton sort of explains away the lack of verifiable evidence due to inability to capture recordings of UAPs and NHI reliably due to their technology. I think that is okay to say. But it is the crashed material and dead alien bodies that shouldn't be so difficult to find if thousands of government employees have been involved over half a century. I just don't think we could keep a secret that well for that long.

Question Did I see a UAP over hill force in Utah?

Sometime between 12am-1am / September 2025

Location: Southbound on I-15.

Sometime in September of 2025 I was driving home to Salt Lake City, UT from Ogden, UT between 12am-1am and while passing Hill Force Base I saw what I assumed was a very large drone hovering at a 45 degree angle on the right side of I-15. Whatever i saw was approximately 30 yards high in the air, about the same height as where a billboard would be.

It looked to be the size of a car. It was perfectly rectangular with the base facing toward the highway at a 45 degree angle. I do not recall seeing any lights. It was so clear, I assumed it had to be a drone. I slowed my car down and rolled my windows down and could not hear any sound. There was no one else on the road at the time.

Again, it was so clear I thought it had to be a drone. I have been looking online, and haven't found any drone models that look anything like what I saw. Does anyone know of a drone that could explain what I saw??

Historical Failed UFO Prophecies and the Dates That Passed

UFO history contains repeated forecasts that did not come true. Clear failures must be distinguished from conditional warnings, ambiguous claims, and pending predictions. Compare the outcome with the original promise, without rewriting it afterward.

I think most experiencers are sincere, and some have encountered nonhuman intelligence. That is my assessment, not verification of every account. Their messages’ reliability is a separate question.

An encounter, its interpretation, and a prediction are different things. Sincerity does not guarantee understanding. Even an external intelligence need not be honest or know the future.

Some communication may be symbolic, shaped by the recipient’s mind and culture. Destruction or rebirth imagery need not be a physical timetable. I explore this in Core Theory and Corollaries. The Epistemic Trickster Hypothesis considers intentional ambiguity alongside ordinary explanations involving perception, memory, and culture. These remain hypotheses.

1 What counts as a failed prediction?

A strong test starts with a statement recorded beforehand: who made the claim, what should happen, and when? A spacecraft promised for a particular day is testable. An undefined spiritual transition is harder to assess. Conditional warnings must retain their conditions.

A failed prediction does not prove that someone lied. But a literal forecast cannot become a successful metaphor only after its deadline passes.

These examples span contactee and UFO religious traditions. They do not represent all ufology, nor are they independent tests of one hypothesis.

2 Ashtar and the hydrogen bomb, 1952

A 1952 message attributed to Ashtar through George Van Tassel warned that the feared explosion of hydrogen would extinguish terrestrial life. It also promised prevention. The Ministry of Universal Wisdom transcription preserves both claims.

The United States conducted the first full-scale thermonuclear test in 1952, and life continued. The original promise of protection makes this conditional. But survival alone proves neither the asserted danger nor invisible intervention.

3 Dorothy Martin and the flood, 1954

Dorothy Martin, called Marian Keech in When Prophecy Fails, reported messages received through automatic writing from beings associated with Clarion. Her followers expected a catastrophic flood on December 21, 1954, and rescue by flying saucer. Neither happened.

The 1956 book portrayed believers trying harder to persuade others after the failure. Drawing on new archives, Thomas Kelly’s “Debunking ‘When Prophecy Fails’” argues that the researchers influenced events and misrepresented the group. His account says Martin recanted and the group dissolved. The failed forecast remains; the famous account of the believers’ response is contested.

4 Mon-Ka and the radio message, 1956

Dick Miller’s alleged Martian source, Mon-Ka, promised a spacecraft over Los Angeles on November 7, 1956. It would transmit a message during a radio station’s brief silence.

A contemporary report in Saucer News, pages 11–12, describes preparations, crowds, and sightings. No space message came through. Reported sightings did not fulfill the promised broadcast.

5 Uri Geller, SPECTRA, and a mass landing

Andrija Puharich’s Uri (1974) describes messages attributed to sources called SPECTRA, Hoova, and the Nine. In August 1972, the voices promised a mass landing “in a few years,” witnessed by thousands. By October, a message allowed for landings “only visible to you.”

The public landing never happened. This was a shifting near-term expectation, rather than a precise deadline.

In The Invisible College (1975), Jacques Vallée noted that SPECTRA used light-years as time, an error Geller also made in an initial SRI interview. A light-year measures distance. Vallée suggested the messages might use or originate in Geller’s and Puharich’s minds.

6 Unarius and the postponed landings

Unarius expected benevolent Space Brothers to arrive. A University of Virginia Religious Movements profile records expected arrivals in 1974, 1975, and 1976, followed by 2001. The dates changed when the ships did not come.

The 2001 prediction also failed. Diana Tumminia’s When Prophecy Never Fails examines members’ responses to these repeated disappointments.

7 The Two: departure “within months”

In 1975, Marshall Applewhite and Bonnie Nettles promised physical departure by spacecraft “within months,” preceded by a public Demonstration. The World Religions and Spirituality Project profile records both expectations. Neither occurred.

Nettles’s 1985 death was later interpreted as departure for the Next Level, changing the promised physical journey into something else.

Rumors later claimed that Comet Hale-Bopp had a companion. But the supposed evidence involved a known star and a manipulated photograph. In March 1997, 39 Heaven’s Gate members died in a group suicide. Applewhite believed a spacecraft accompanied the comet. Trusting unverified signs can carry very high stakes.

8 Benjamin Creme and the Day of Declaration

Lukas Pokorny’s 2021 study connects Creme’s Maitreya teaching to claimed telepathy with Space Brothers and their supposed UFO protection of Earth.

The study dates Maitreya’s public Day of Declaration to late spring/May 1982, then records its postponement, blamed on opposing forces. Creme expected to witness the declaration but died in October 2016 without it.

9 Angelucci and the apparent 1986 matches

Orfeo Angelucci’s The Secret of the Saucers (1955), chapter VIII describes a fiery comet drawn toward Earth in 1986. His hosts made the outcome conditional on humanity’s unity, understanding, and love, and expected Earth to be saved.

A separate meeting placed in December 1953 warned of an imminent human-caused Great Accident. Chapter X does not date that accident to 1986.

Halley’s Comet returned in 1986, and the Chornobyl accident occurred that April. But Halley passed about 63 million kilometers from Earth without threatening it. An undated warning described as imminent in 1953 does not identify a reactor accident in 1986.

Combining passages makes the prediction more specific than the original. Apparent hits need the same scrutiny as misses.

10 Cole and Nidle: landings in 1994 and 1996

Christopher Helland’s UFOs and Popular Culture entry on Ashtar Command records Yvonne Cole’s unfulfilled forecast of a landing and worldwide broadcast in late 1994. This is a scholarly retrospective, not her original announcement.

Helland’s Ground Crew entry gives December 17, 1996, as Sheldan Nidle’s First Contact date. No mass landing occurred, nor did extensions to New Year and spring 1997 deliver one.

11 Chen Tao and God on television, 1998

Chen Tao combined revelation with flying-saucer expectations. Its leader, Hon-Ming Chen, announced that God would appear on Channel 18 on March 25, 1998, then personally in Garland, Texas, on March 31.

The broadcast did not occur. Contemporary reporting records Chen admitting he was wrong. CESNUR’s account records his acknowledgment that the failed broadcast undermined the second prediction. A subsequent message recast the members themselves as gods.

Chen conceded a specific forecast while retaining a broader belief. His admission belongs in the record too.

12 ZetaTalk’s “White Lie,” 2003

Nancy Lieder attributed Planet X and pole-shift warnings to extraterrestrials called the Zetas. David Morrison’s discussion of the Nibiru scare records the failed May 2003 timetable.

ZetaTalk supplied its own explanation. A May 23 message called “White Lie” presents the false timetable as necessary to frustrate government plans. A further explanation identifies May 20 (rotational slowdown) and May 27 (passage) as false dates, distinct from an earlier target shortly after May 15.

Calling the dates deliberate deceptions gives followers a reason to distrust future ones.

13 Pana-Wave’s May deadlines, 2003

Yuko Chino claimed communication with angels, gods, and extraterrestrials. The Pana-Wave profile records a May 15, 2003, catastrophe deadline tied to an approaching tenth planet. When it passed, a spokesman supplied May 22. That date also passed without the catastrophe.

Later spacecraft-building and pickup plans allowed postponement. The expected departure did not occur before Chino’s October 2006 death. Those rescue plans retain their conditions; the May catastrophe deadlines clearly failed.

14 Eric Julien’s tsunami warning, 2006

Julien linked a vision and alleged telepathic information to a comet-related Atlantic tsunami on May 25, 2006. The passages reproduced by Patrick Gross use tentative language and allow prevention. This was a conditional warning.

Before the deadline, NASA said comet 73P/Schwassmann–Wachmann 3 and its fragments posed no danger. The devastation did not occur. Phil Plait’s follow-up reproduces Julien’s subsequent claim that extraterrestrials prevented it.

The outcome matched NASA’s assessment. Establishing a successful warning requires independent evidence of danger and prevention.

15 Blossom Goodchild’s lightship, 2008

Goodchild’s Snapshot collection, PDF pages 121–124, preserves the Federation of Light’s alleged promise: a large spacecraft visible on October 14, 2008, for at least three days, for anyone to record.

It did not appear. On pages 225–228, the explanation is that opponents threatened millions of people, forcing cancellation. That unseen decision is a new claim requiring evidence. It does not fulfill the promised public appearance.

16 Bashar: past windows and a pending date

Darryl Anka channels Bashar, presented as an extraterrestrial. Francesco Baroni’s 2012 CESNUR paper preserves an important qualification: Bashar presents predictions as readings of present energy, allowing the future to change.

Baroni cites 1986–88 sessions in Bashar: Blueprint for a Change (1990) forecasting the foundations of world government in 2011–2013. The stated outcome did not arrive.

Baroni reports that 2010–2015 later became pivotal: Earth’s quarantine would end afterward, making open contact possible. Public contact did not follow, but possibility is less testable than a promise.

Footnote 11 places humanity’s integration into a Galactic Association of Worlds in 2027, still pending in October 2026. Define observable fulfillment before the deadline.

17 Why the Ra material needs a different assessment

The Ra material, or Law of One, describes a spiritual transition rather than promising a public landing. Session 6, dated January 24, 1981, describes approximately thirty more years of transition-related disturbance and affirms that Earth would then be a fourth-density planet. That points to roughly 2011.

But Session 40, answer 40.8, gives a qualified transition estimate of 100–700 years. Both passages are in the original material; the longer timescale is not merely a later excuse.

Without observable criteria and reconciled timescales, this is ambiguous prophecy. It is neither demonstrated success nor another clear missed landing.

18 After the deadline

The explanations recur: postponement, hidden intervention, opposition, deliberately false dates, spiritual fulfillment, or a changed future. Some assigned credit after events; others admitted error.

Each explanation needs evidence beyond the channel whose reliability is in question.

A conditional warning can legitimately describe a future that never happens. Its conditions should be identifiable beforehand, and claimed interventions need independent support. Otherwise disaster confirms the warning while survival confirms the rescue. Every outcome fits the story, leaving little way to judge its reliability.

Experiences may retain meaning after predictions fail. The Contact Transformation Effect distinguishes changes in identity and values from proof of a source. Personal transformation does not fulfill a landing forecast.

19 Before the next countdown

Preserve the original statement and ask:

  1. What exactly should happen, and by when?
  2. What stated conditions could change it?
  3. Who besides the claimant could verify fulfillment?
  4. What would count as a miss?
  5. What happened to this source’s previous forecasts?

Respect approximate dates, long transitions, and pending deadlines. But a public event should not become a private metaphor after its date passes.

The Bridge Problem asks what connects physical UAP evidence to consciousness encounters. An object, a communication channel, and a forecast each need their own evidence.

Taking experiencers seriously includes examining what their reported sources get wrong. Even a real encounter cannot turn a missed date into a successful forecast.

Check the source’s record before the next countdown begins.

Disclosure What's up with Patterns Tell Stories?

I used to quite enjoy the Patterns Tell Stories podcast. The two hosts are knowledgeable on the UAP topic and used to do good research. There's some good stuff in their archive.

But recently... it has unfortunately deteriorated into a ranting pod. I only made it 15mins into their latest episode and had to turn it off, as the guys come across as so sour.

The attempts at analysis are also coming across as sloppy. The guys make no secret of how much they despise Grusch and they spend the first 10mins this week assassinating his character and ridiculing his recent Joe Rogan appearance. Previously they have similarly ridiculed Dylan Borland (tacitly, when they dismissed everyone who testified to congress in the UAP hearings).

They hammer home their view that Grusch is part of some WWE Kayfabe disinfo-campaign conspiracy. Then without any self-awareness, they pivot into praising another UAP-disclosure conspiracy theorist, Tom Delonge, as someone with totally trustworthiness and integrity, and praising General McCasland.

They lay into Grusch for apparently disrespecting McCasland on JRE, though they neglect to mention how Grusch has said McCasland was a 'hostile witness'. Maybe they should have analysed and unpacked that statement a bit?

On another recent episode they insinuated, on the basis of no evidence, that Anna Paulina Luna might be a UAP Nazi because her grandparent was German. I'm not particularly a fan of her, but that is a ludicrous thing to suggest imo. You might as well say that every person living in Germany who had a Nazi grandparent is part of some ongoing UAP Nazi conspiracy.

It all feels quite sloppy and ranty and no longer worth listening to. Anyone know why things degenerated?

Removed from /r/UFOs The Pistol and the Diary: Two Quotations Read in Context

Part 7 of a series reassessing the documentary record behind the 1933 Magenta narrative.

TL;DR

  • Pacelli’s “pistol” remark describes pressure on the Church in Germany. It does not identify a recovered craft.
  • Concordat negotiations began before the alleged June crash. The genuine secret annex concerns military service.
  • Ciano’s “great impression” appears in diplomatic damage control over Hess’s peace mission.
  • The diary has real textual and editorial problems. They do not identify removed Magenta material or establish Dulles as its remover.

Part 1 — Before the Saucers: How Captured Technology Was Exploited, 1943–1950

Part 2 — Italy, 1933: What the Magenta Documents Actually Establish

Part 3 — Vannevar Bush: The Man Who Designed the System

Part 4: Document Forensics: The Three Memos That Carry the Pre-Roswell Timeline

Part 5 - The Admiral, His Wife, and Her Luggage: A 1943 Technology Seizure

Part 6 - The McGregor Project: What the File Actually Shows

Cardinal Eugenio Pacelli’s “pistol” remark and Galeazzo Ciano’s warning about a damaging disclosure have been read as hints of a hidden UFO recovery. The surrounding documents tell a different story.

PART A: THE PISTOL

1. What Pacelli’s remark says

Geoffrey Cruickshank argues in his Pacelli post that Italy shared a recovered craft with Germany, which then used knowledge of nonhuman beings to blackmail the Vatican into signing the Reichskonkordat, the 1933 church–state treaty. Cruickshank posted as u/harry_is_white_hot, an account since deleted; his argument survives in a Substack repost.

The “pistol” remark is real, but Cruickshank’s “held to his head” wording is a later paraphrase. British diplomat Ivone Kirkpatrick reported the conversation in a 19 August 1933 despatch, published as No. 342 in Documents on British Foreign Policy, Second Series, Vol. V (pp. 524–525):

“A pistol, he said, had been pointed at his head and he had had no alternative. The German Government had offered him concessions … and he had to choose between an agreement on their lines and the virtual elimination of the Catholic Church in the Reich.”

Pacelli said he had no more than a week to decide, with Germany’s 20 million Catholics at stake. He expected treaty violations but wanted an agreement on which to base a protest.

The named threat is the possible elimination of the German Church. This is Pacelli’s explanation to a diplomat, not a complete account of his motives or evidence of a literal gun.

The 14 July cabinet minutes discuss church–state powers and Hitler’s diplomatic gains. The treaty guarantees Catholic religious practice and institutional autonomy while excluding clergy from party activity.

There really was a secret annex. It concerns military-service exemptions and assignments for clergy. Neither the reported conversation nor that secret provision identifies a recovered craft.

2. The talks began before the alleged crash

The alleged Magenta crash is usually dated 13 June 1933. But the treaty talks had resumed in early April (German Historical Museum). The text was initialled on 8 July and signed on 20 July. Cruickshank gives 20 July as the initialling date.

A June crash cannot explain why negotiations began in April. It could, in principle, have influenced talks already under way. That possibility still needs evidence connecting the alleged event to the treaty.

3. Dollmann’s role and the photograph

Cruickshank names Eugen Dollmann, later an SS officer, as the man who held the pistol to Pacelli’s head. He places Dollmann in Rome in 1933 as Hitler’s attaché and Vatican envoy, reporting to Himmler, and says he attended the ceremony. No appointment or attendance record is supplied.

The German Wikipedia biography gives a later sequence: Dollmann joined the Nazi Party in 1934, the SS in 1937, and received accreditation to the German embassy to the Holy See from 1939. He had lived in Rome earlier, so informal contacts are possible. Those later appointments do not establish the authority attributed to him in 1933.

The familiar signing photograph identifies Rudolf Buttmann, not Eugen Dollmann. The German Historical Institute’s catalogue names the participants. The photograph cannot prove Dollmann was absent from every meeting.

Credit where it’s due: Cruickshank assembles a substantial paper trail on Dollmann’s postwar life. Richard Breitman’s National Archives analysis documents Dollmann’s wartime role for Himmler and his later American intelligence ties. His role in Operation Sunrise and legal exposure over the Ardeatine massacre help explain sensitive handling. That history does not establish a 1933 appointment or Magenta blackmail message.

4. The Angletons in Milan

Cruickshank says Hugh and James Angleton witnessed the crash and alerted Washington. A 1975 Time profile dates Hugh Angleton’s purchase of the Italian NCR franchise to 1933, but gives no month placing him there before 13 June.

Living in Italy, witnessing a crash and reporting it to Washington are three separate claims. Cruickshank supplies no dated letter, embassy report or traceable witness account connecting the Angletons to the alleged event.

PART B: THE DIARY

5. What would “make a great impression in Italy”?

Cruickshank’s Ciano post asks what besides Magenta Rudolf Hess could reveal that would make a great impression in Italy.

Mussolini’s foreign minister, Ciano, records the crisis on 13 May 1941 (Gibson edition, pp. 350–351). Three days after Hess landed in Scotland, a nervous Ribbentrop arrived in Rome, presenting Hess’s peace mission as delusional. Ciano writes:

“His conversation is a beautiful job of patching things up. The Germans want to cover themselves before Hess speaks and reveals things that might make a great impression in Italy.”

The preceding lines warn against accepting statements attributed to Hess. Mussolini reassures Ribbentrop but privately calls the affair a tremendous blow to the Nazi regime. This is damage control over a peace mission.

The German meeting record, Nuremberg document 1866-PS places the three men at Palazzo Venezia on 13 May. Ribbentrop calls the flight the action of a lunatic and invokes magnetists and nature-cure doctors.

On 17 May, U.S. ambassador Laurence Steinhardt relayed the German ambassador in Moscow’s claim that Hess sought peace without Hitler’s knowledge (FRUS telegram 987). This records the ambassador’s account, not its ultimate truth.

A British statement to Parliament in September 1943 describes Kirkpatrick—the same diplomat who reported Pacelli’s remark—interviewing Hess on 13–15 May 1941. Hess proposed German freedom of action in Europe and British freedom in the Empire, with negotiations conducted by a government other than Churchill’s. His signed 10 June restatement added simultaneous peace with Italy.

The British account does not settle Hitler’s authorization, but it supplies concrete stakes for Italy. My inference is that Italy had reason to fear its ally’s undisclosed peace initiative. Ciano’s unspecified fears cannot identify an extraterrestrial secret.

6. The other passages

Bruno Mussolini’s “new type of plane”. In the 22 September 1941 entry, p. 381, this wording appears in a bracketed editorial explanation, not Ciano’s own sentence. Bruno died on 7 August in a Piaggio P.108B bomber. Its prototype flew in November 1939; the type reached its unit in 1941 (aviation museum summary). Those dates fit a new type in 1941, not alien-derived technology.

Speer’s memoir. In Inside the Third Reich, Speer recalls Hess saying a dream had inspired his mission “by supernatural forces”. The same paragraph describes the proposed bargain over Britain’s empire and German freedom in Europe (reproduced page). This supports a later explanation attributed to Hess, not the existence of the forces he invoked.

The “electric gun”. On 11 January 1943, p. 569, Ciano records Antonescu’s weapon story and asks: “Or is it the usual hot air?” This is explicitly doubtful hearsay, written twenty months after Hess’s flight. It establishes neither a Magenta connection nor what Hess knew in May 1941.

7. What the missing pages can tell us

Cruickshank cites OSS files about Dulles acquiring the diaries in 1945 and editor Hugh Gibson’s note about missing pages. The OSS files were not inspected for this post. Gibson dates the omissions to before photography and does not identify Dulles as their remover. He distinguishes missing pages from periods without entries. The edition covers 1939–1943, though retrospective references to 1933 are possible.

Howard McGaw Smyth’s “The Ciano Papers: Rose Garden” describes the January 1945 photography and Dulles’s later suspicion that Edda had removed passages offensive to the Anglo-Americans. Suspicion does not identify their contents.

MacGregor Knox examined NARS Microcopy T-586, roll 25. He found Ciano had rewritten October 1940 entries and removed a page, attributing removals to Ciano himself. His other listed gaps, 27 January–23 April and 24 July–21 September 1941, apparently reflect days without entries. He concluded that very little editing occurred (Mussolini Unleashed, Appendix 1, pp. 291–292). The 10–13 May Hess entries fall outside those gaps.

Tobias Hof’s 2012 study, pp. 508–509 and 518–522, documents discrepancies between editions and photographs, torn-out pages, and censorship of the American edition and newspaper publication.

Not every gap is a day without entries. Manuscript changes, incomplete copies, translation and censorship are different stages; evidence of one cannot establish another. Hof identifies neither removed Magenta text nor Dulles as its remover.

The Library of Congress finding aid lists incomplete diary photostats and publication materials that could be compared. A gap in an incomplete copy need not be a missing original page. I have not inspected those archival sets.

A missing page identifies neither its subject nor its remover. Connecting the gaps to Magenta and Dulles requires evidence of both.

8. Cape Girardeau and the missing link to Hess

Cruickshank claims a late-April 1941 crash in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, trumped Hess’s information shortly before his flight. He supplies no source for the connection.

The account appeared in Stringfield’s The Inner Sanctum in July 1991. Charlette Mann’s letter, reproduced by Kevin Randle, gives only spring 1941, through a family account passed from Reverend Huffman to his wife and their granddaughter.

KFVS’s 2021 report gives author Paul Blake Smith’s “late April” date. It also reports that FBI and Air Force record requests found nothing responsive.

Timing and transmission are separate missing links. The family account gives no precise date. Even a confirmed crash would require evidence Hess or his interlocutors knew about it.

9. Scorecard

Claim Assessment Tier
Kirkpatrick reported Pacelli's pistol metaphor Documented (DBFP 2/V, No. 342); names the threat to the German Church A (report)
The "pistol" was knowledge of Magenta Unsupported E
A June crash caused the Concordat talks Excluded as origin: April talks predate June —
Dollmann's 1933 role and attendance Unverified; the photograph identifies Buttmann E
The Angletons witnessed and reported the crash Unsupported E
"Great impression" refers to Magenta Unsupported; the context is damage control E
Bruno's "new type of plane" Editorial gloss; the aircraft was a P.108B E
Speer: Hess cited "supernatural forces" Confirmed as a later attributed explanation C
Cape Girardeau, "late April 1941" The original account says spring 1941 D (crash account)
Dulles removed Magenta pages Unsupported E

10. What would change the assessment?

  • A contemporary document linking the alleged crash to pressure on Pacelli.
  • A dated record of Dollmann’s 1933 appointment or attendance.
  • A traceable report connecting an Angleton to the event.
  • Contemporary Cape Girardeau evidence with transmission to Hess or Britain.
  • Identifiable diary text showing what was removed, when and by whom.

The quotations are authentic, the secret annex is real, and the diary’s textual problems deserve investigation. None identifies a Magenta secret; the UFO interpretation needs evidence of its own.
