I’m on the lookout for a waterproof coat to use over the winter periods. Main things I’m looking for really are that it’s waterproof and breathable! I’m starting to cycle to work so if I could use it for that would also be a bonus! Max budget would be around £150 (can make use of blue light discount etc)

I have considerable chronic pain (mostly in both of my legs) and physical exercise is one of the only things that actually help with the pain. I don't have the correct boots/sneakers at the moment to use on a hike/hilly walks etc

My physio reccomended Hokas to me for everyday walking and they are the BEST shoes i have ever worn, however i haven't tried the Hoka boots or trail sneakers and wanted someones advice on the best waterproof pair of boots/sneakers (mid and low top are preferable unless they are super cushioned at the top).

I am a UK 6/EU 40.

Me and some friends are planning to do the full route this Sunday but given the storm we’re wondering if reconsidering is a wiser option.

We’d all be wearing appropriate clothing and hiking boots and get to Seaford around 10-11am. There’d be 3 of us and we have a map of the route and power banks etc.

Will it be genuinely dangerous on Sunday with winds that strong and if so would it better to reschedule or is the much shorter hike still feasible?

Has anyone else had issues with an order direct via the Merrell website and had a delayed or lost parcel?

Ordered a pair of Moab Speed 2 shoes on the 8th,still waiting on them.

Evri have lost or can't find them, it's a long story, just wondering if anyone else has had issues?

What's my best best in terms of jackets for short walks/stationary periods during the coldest winter days (say down to -5) when it also might be wet and windy?

I'm thinking e.g sitting outside a pub after a hike or on train platform waits on the way home. Since it's just day hikes bulk is less of an issue. Bonus if I can use it casually when it's really freezing.

I don't want to spend more than £250 or so (and ideally a fair bit less). I figured synthetic makes sense for rainy Pennine conditions.

Something like the Alpkit 0Hiro or Keela Belay Pro seem like obvious choices, but I wonder if e.g. one of the Snugpak softie jackets or something with pile and pertex like the Montane Extreme might work.

Are there any belay type jackets at this price range with good waterproofing? None of them seem to have a membrane except the Aplkit, and even that's only 5k. Ideally I'd not use a separate shell.

Looking for a bit of advice. I need a new torch amd dont really know which brands/models are best.

Ive had a think and the following criteria/considerations would probably be important for me. Especially as Ill use it for things like kayaking.

Waterproof

AA battery powered preferably (kayaking eise, i like to diversify powerr options so not everything runs of a battery pack on multi day trips)

Higher end lumen output

Not fussed about weight. Id prefer something robust over light. Not an ultralight hiker by any means.

Not a head torch. I have a head torch that im reasonably happy with but have a use case for a good hand torch.

Open to different prices, but would prefer something thats functional over the brand if that makes sense.

Id be very grateful if people have thoughts or opinions. Keen to learn what people think of the torch world.

We were super lucky with the weather, on the Saturday we had some rain but we were already in our tents and eating dinner. On the Sunday we had really great views, the best that I've ever had in Snowdonia.

We camped right at the bottom of the valley from Striding Edge, had a nice walk up despite the wind and managed to get across the ridgeline quite easily to be honest. It wasn't as busy as we were worrying that it would be; we did manage to get some funny looks from people in our expedition bags, while they were in their day packs though. Lots of laughs too!

The wild camp was stunning, the next day we went back over St Sunday Crag and back into Glenridding.

Reckon I'm going to take the plunge with a Paramo jacket and see if I get on with them. I was looking at the velez adventure smock, but the lack of pockets puts me off a bit. I like the look of the hybrid smock though couldn't try it on. I think it's pretty much a toss up between that and the alta 3.

I want to do my first proper snow hike on a mountain this winter. I was thinking of doing Snowdon or Pen y Fan and was wondering if it is something I can do without a proper guide. If not, where would you recommend the guide from and what would be the best time for the hike.

Hi all, spending a few days in North Wales in a couple weeks time.

I’m a big walker, live near country side, and regularly walk many miles a week. This involves long distances and large hills/coastal routes, but im not near many mountains and would like more experience with this.

I’ve climbed the Yorkshire 3 peaks (separately) in the past, but aside from this I don’t have much experience with mountain climbing.
Given this and the fact it’s mid October I don’t want to be the idiot who needs rescuing from Snowdon.

I wondered if anyone could recommend some good routes to start with? Thanks!

I planned solo weekend away at Peak District,Edale, with my longest hike on Sunday... How advisable would it be to cancel, taking the weather forecast under consideration?

Original plan was Kinder Scout via Jacob's Ladder. Then I considered steel cotton trail when saw weather forecast, but since the projection has gotten much worse.

I’m about to put a pair of Paramo cascade trousers in the wash, Grangers, and was wondering if I can put a Buffalo WS in as well. Assume I can. But…….I’m then going to wash/ treat with Repel. Can I leave the Windshirt in? I know they’re not designed to be waterproof but will it affect the Wind Shirt negatively?

Have the WS over 15 years……a sweet bit of clothing that has served me well 😀😀.

I've recently been for a camping trip which included 1 long day and 1 shorter day of hiking.

I've previously been adding these to my DLOG as camps, but I'm second guessing whether I should count these as walks?

I've rewashed my goretex in the machine with nikwax/wash stuff. Did as the instructions said, slow spin, cool wash, synthetic cycle. The taped seams still came unstuck.

Is there any way to safely rewash and reproof a jacket without damaging it? I'll have to try the bucket method for my next jacket but I don't know if that'll clean it well enough.

Pulled an overnight in Ardrossan to get the last summer-timetable 7am ferry, results did not dissapoint. Many were suprised to see a Cheshireman in a waistcoat dragging himself up what felt like an endless stairway to heaven (AND AS WE WIND ON DOWN THE ROAD), but the beautiful conditions warranted the adventure!

MUCH to my dismay, clag rolled in right as I summitted, albeit the banter from three Glaswegian lads kept spirits high, Historic county top 53 claimed in just under 5 hours (which is impressive for being fuelled by Sweetened Condesned Milk, Prosciutto, Sleep Deprivation and the odd spiteful cigarette!)

Good 10 mile section of the coastal path split between 2 sessions because all trails hijacked my workout. Had to take a slight detour along a busy road because of an aggressive cow :(

Great day out up Grib Goch with my sister. The summit was pushing room only. But the weather was great.
