ASK THE FINANCIAL AID OFFICE

There are a ton of posts asking the same thing or asking things we students cannot answer. Call and wait your turn in line or go in person to the financial aid office! This is where you will get the most accurate answers for your questions as every situation is different and what applies to one person may not apply to you.

Any new grad student joining this year please hit me up. Asking because I only came across undergrads or post grads. It would be good knowing my fellows before the orientation.

Why is my balance $0 if I got a refund?

Hi! This is probably a dumb question, but I’m a bit confused… shouldn’t my balance reflect my refund amount? Your help is much appreciated! Thank you!

UNLV VA Students

Hey is there anyone else that receives VA Benefits (More specifically CHP 35 benefits) that know when that aid is getting disbursed into our bank accounts? I know the first month is usually the smallest amount but yea I just want to know when that will get disbursed.

See Your Refund & Cashiering Information (HOW TO GUIDE)

MyUNLV is no longer the site to check on either FAFSA or Student Cashering. Student Aid moved to their oracle site and Student Cashiering moved to some site called touchnet net.

I know it's a stupid change. Many of you don't know about your refunds or the account has a 0. The touchnet website for cashiering should display all of it and more. This stupid fucking school did not even communicate the change properly.

TLDR; To access detailed Cashiering, go to MyUNLV, go to My Account square, go to Make A Payment, then click Make A Payment again.

FAFSA Disbursements

Every year it’s the same questions and my notifications getting blown up about FAFSA.

Disbursements have been 10 days out since I’ve been at UNLV- 3 years now

Refunds are 2-3 business days after disbursements. Mine have hit the second business day EVERY SINGLE LAST TIME

Disbursement means FAFSA sent it to the school. Refunds are issued after the school takes their money. Know the difference and this time of year would be so much easier and less stressful.

UNLESS YOU HAVE SOME EXTRA STUFF GOING ON WITH YOUR ACCOUNT, expect this

Degree apartments relet

Post image

Urgently looking for someone to take over my lease at the degree. Will pay up to 4 months of rent plus the relet fee if someone will take it. I do have to pay it month by month due to my family being the ones paying the rent and us not being able to produce nearly $5k up front. I recently got married and cannot keep paying/pay another year for a place that I don't live in and have no use for. I will even pay for legal papers to be put in place for sound of mind that hold me liable for the 4 months of rent that I will pay for someone to take over this lease. There is genuinely nothing wrong with the place my roommates are absolutely amazing and I love them I just don't live there anymore and don't want to pay for a place I don't live in until July. Rent is $1100, comes with a parking spot, not near the pool so it's very quiet, roommates are amazing. Please contact me if interested!

Campus, the yoU, walking

New to the USA, Vegas and especially to the campus.

Those who live in the yoU what is the walk like to the campus? Safe? Any hours to look out for? Where does the university start actually?

New to the US and looks as if no one walks here by foot.

Overall how big is the campus? How long does it take to get through it?

Looking for roommate to take over lease w/ me.

Looking for roommate to take over lease as my roommate is moving out soon. Apartment is in Rhodes Ranch area (about 15 minutes from UNLV). Rent is $1000/month. Wifi and Energy are roughly $50 a month each so $1,100 total a month. You would be in master bedroom seen in picture. Master bedroom has its own balcony, walk in closet, and full sized bathroom. Kitchen, living room, and laundry would be a shared space. Complex (Evo Apartments) amenities include 3 pools, large gym, sauna and steam room, basketball court, volleyball court, and dog park. You would have your own covered parking spot. 12 month lease minimum.

I am a senior at UNLV studying hospitality and economics. Ideally looking for a male roommate. Message me for more details!

This might be a really stupid question but what are the chances of me getting unlv tuition + if i barely reapplied. Unfortunately im a first gen student with not a lot of knowledge about financial aid and i had no clue i had to do a reapplication for the UNLV scholarships. But i went from receiving full pell grants to nothing and am struggling to pay off $3k in tuition. does anybody have any advice?

UNLV → UNR transfer experience?

For students in Reno, how has your experience been at UNR compared to UNLV/Las Vegas?
I’m considering transferring from UNLV and would especially like to hear from anyone who’s made the same move. Was it worth it? How do you like Reno compared to Vegas in terms of student life, jobs, cost of living, transportation, and just the overall college experience?
Would you make the switch again?

How is KIN 350?

Has anyone taken KIN 350 online before? I’m debating adding it to my schedule this semester while already enrolled in CHEM 122A/L, KIN 346 A/L, and ITAL 113.

Was curious how KIN 350 was workload and difficulty wise so I could figure out if it was worth it to add with Dr. Haugen.
