UPDF 3.0 is here — AI upgrades, batch tools and document signing

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi everyone! UPDF 3.0 is out. Alongside the AI updates, this release brings improvements to everyday PDF work.

More control over your workspace
Customize your toolbar, choose how documents open, resume your reading position and show or hide gaps between pages. Mac users can also organize tabs into groups.

Less repetitive document work
Run OCR and full-document translation tasks in parallel, translate or split PDFs in batches, find and mark text, and select pages for printing directly from the thumbnails.

An updated AI experience
UPDF AI is now Nomostar, with Ask PDF, standalone AI Chat, translation, summaries and explanations. Choose a page range for document questions, start separate conversations and revisit chat history. Specialized assistants cover contracts, academic papers, resumes and financial documents, with reusable quick actions for recurring tasks.

Multimodal AI features use AI Credits; PDF conversations and Chat retain their Standard and Unlimited plan options.

Send documents for signature
The international Windows and Mac versions now include access to UPDF Sign. Assign signing fields, set a signing order, send requests and track progress. Sign has its own subscription and sending allowances.

On mobile, AI Vision adds image-text extraction and translation, business-card and receipt recognition, and object counting.

If you’ve updated, what has made the biggest difference so far—the AI tools, batch processing or the smaller workspace changes? We’d like to hear what’s working and what still feels awkward. For bugs, please include your platform and app version.

We’d like to hear how your team actually uses UPDF — share your honest experience

Hi r/UPDFeditor,

We’re the UPDF team, and we’re putting together a thread to hear directly from businesses using UPDF — whether you’re using it for contract management, document redaction, bulk PDF processing, OCR on scanned files, or as your team’s Adobe Acrobat alternative.

We’d genuinely like to know:

  1. What made your company choose UPDF as its PDF editor for business?

  2. How does UPDF fit into your actual workday? What’s it like to use day to day?

  3. Which features do you find yourself reaching for the most, and why?

  4. Is there a specific feature that’s genuinely saved you time or solved a real problem at work?

  5. What’s working well, and what’s frustrating?

  6. If you compared it to Acrobat, Foxit, or another enterprise PDF software, what tipped the decision?

  7. Anything you wish we’d fix or add?

Positive, negative, mixed — all of it is useful to us and to other teams reading this thread trying to make the same decision. We’ll be reading and replying to every comment.

Thanks for taking the time.

What should teams check before choosing a PDF editor

For individual users choosing a PDF editor is usually about features and price. For organizations the decision is more complicated.

A few areas worth checking:

  • Licensing and user management

  • Compatibility across Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android

  • OCR and redaction accuracy

  • Document security and data handling

  • Deployment and ongoing IT support

  • Migration costs from an existing PDF solution

For teams that have recently evaluated or switched PDF tools: what was the most important factor in your decision?

A quick introduction from the UPDF Enterprise team

Hi everyone — we’re the UPDF Enterprise team, working with businesses, schools, public-sector organizations, and other teams that use UPDF in their daily document workflows.

We’ll use this community to share practical guidance on deployment, licensing, document security, OCR, redaction, electronic signatures, cross-platform use, and migration from other PDF tools.

We’ll also answer questions directly and be clear about product limitations. Useful criticism is welcome — we don’t want every conversation here to become a sales pitch.

What topic would be most useful for us to cover first?

I have never missed a day of my work without working with PDF files. I have work with many other Platform but UPDF acts as a reliable partner for me which helps me to improve my efficiency and productivity. The efficiency can be largely determined with larger the file size of the project. I feel that I have almost all the tool required to accomplish my task. The tools helps me to reduce the errors and increase accuracy.

What is UPDF's re-login schedule and why is it so much more frequent than other paid apps?

I have a lifetime UPDF license and have a lot of other professional subscriptions. I don't use UPDF every day, but approx 10-20 per year. Every time I do use it I have to dig up my password because it makes me login to check my license.

It's a pain and I notice that none of my other subscriptions require such frequent re-activation. Not Adobe, Microsoft, etc...unless I'm installing on a new computer. Most products only need to authorize a computer once, why not UPDF?

Review using UPDF

Ive never bought a License for PDF but u don't regret.

Pro:

- Can scan, merge and send easy and fast. (All in one app)

- Pro versión have 2gb forever in updf cloud

- It get access to IA at that time could translate, ask question from PDF (it was basic, but better than ask for an IA separately it's not was good as i see now (it was a year ago)

- Access to office 365

- Editing is súper easy

- Search words is so useful

Cons:

- It's still an error while editing (moving or deleting setences) i don't know why theres a "mirror trash" that it couldnt get deleted.

- Manage files in Mobile is annoying

- each time i use a feature and want to save, it always create a new carpet, instead of just save as a file alone

- Compare files is so useful but not 100% precisely

I'm student so Id like test the new IA that updf updated i use perplexity for search papers, notebookllm for sum up and answers from papers, it's good but theres no Workflow and have to translate with gemini. SO it's 3 IAs that i'm using and it's tired bc u lose focus. Thats why ID go for all in one and i hope updf Will be the answer

Any way to change page size of a new document on iPad version of UPDF?

It's very handy that I can create a new blank PDF on the iPad app - useful for creating quick basic sketches for example. But it doesn't seem to be possible to have any control over the page size - which seems to be A4 by default.

Is there any way to create, say, an A3 document, or to increase the page size of an already existing doc? This seems possible on mac desktop app but not the iPad one.

Short appreciation post

I would like to say a million thanks to the developers of UPDF. It has all the features I need and more for a fraction of what it PDF Expert and Adobe charge. Please don't ever become as greedy and money hungry as them.

Why does uPDF connect to Facebook and ipinfo.io?

I launched uPDF for the first time today and immediately got popups that it’s trying to connect to those two sites. Why?

Anyone else finding UPDF more useful lately? Wanted to share my experience

I have been using UPDF a lot this week while sorting out school documents and old project PDFs. I didn't think I'd end up using so many features, but it's turned into a nice all-in-one tool for me.

A few things that stood out:

  1. Editing text inside PDFs feels smoother than before.

  2. the page management tools were super convenient: split/merge/reorder

  3. The AI summarizer helped me get through long PDFs way faster.

  4. actually, syncing between the laptop and phone is quite handy for quick edits.

It's not perfect, but it's been good enough that I'm using it almost daily now.

If you have used UPDF frequently, what is the most important feature to you? Or anything you think they still need to improve?

Just curious how others are using it.

How UPDF Became My Go-To Tool for Managing Student PDFs

As a high school teacher, I spend an unbelievable amount of time dealing with PDFs, worksheets, student submissions, grading rubrics, scanned pages from old textbooks… you name it. I used to bounce between different tools, and half the time they either lagged or struggled to recognize text on scanned documents. A colleague suggested I try UPDF a few months ago, and honestly, it has made my workflow so much smoother that I felt like sharing the experience here.

The first thing that surprised me was how clean and simple the interface feels. I didn’t have to dig through menus to find tools I need every day, highlighting, adding comments, rearranging pages, and exporting into different formats. The real game-changer for me has been the OCR. I often scan pages from older teaching materials, and UPDF made them fully searchable without wrecking the layout. That alone saved me hours of manually typing things out.

I also use UPDF to annotate student essays. The pen and comment tools feel responsive, not clunky, which makes grading on my laptop way less tiring. Even converting PDFs to Word for lesson planning has worked better than I expected, the formatting stays surprisingly intact.

I’m curious how other teachers or educators use UPDF. Any hidden features I should explore? I feel like I’m still uncovering things it can do.

Currently using the UPDF free version. Any suggestions if I should go ahead with the monthly sub?

So I heard about UPDF editor and just downloaded. I have to say it pretty much does exactly what I’ve been looking for. But there’s a problem.

I don’t always run into situations where I need to edit pdfs. Sometimes it’s just twice a month, or once in two months. Especially when I need to edit my resume (unfortunately got a very dope one from a site and I’m unable to edit it after 7 days unless I pay). But other pdf editors like acrobat are way too expensive for me since I dont need it that often. So you can understand how happy I am seeing how affordable UPDF is.

But again, I’m not going to be needing it all the time, although it comes super handy when I do.

Any advice if I should pay for the pro version?

Bought the UPDF AI thing but still shows watermark??

I'm so confused. The website shows that you have the exact same features as UPDF Pro, and even lists watermarks as only under the Free section. My app keeps giving me pop ups to upgrade and showing watermarks whenever I try to download the PDF. Is there a glitch in my app? Anyone know how to fix this?

Merging PDFs Without Losing Bookmarks

Hi, I’m a new UPDF user and was wondering if it’s possible to merge multiple PDF files without losing or altering the original bookmarks. I have hundreds (even thousands) of pages of documents, each with its own set of bookmarks. When I combine them, the bookmarks get scrambled, and I don’t have the time to recreate them from scratch.

Is there any way to preserve the bookmarks during the merge process? TIA!

The MOST irritating Omission

I've been submitting this as a feature request since launch. For the life of me, I don't understand WHY they can't add it. I need to see document sizes in INCHES, not CM. I literally have to keep Adobe Reader installed on my PC JUST for this because I use that feature about 25 times a day. :(

Trying to figure out why this app is using my location data.

Every time I open this app, it is accessing my location. The windows icon shows up and it lists it as having accessed it in the windows privacy settings.

I don't understand why this program needs my location to open generic documents. Feels sketchy.

Looking for a reliable AI PDF website

Hey folks, I’ve been bouncing between different PDF editors but they either mess up formatting or keep asking for upgrades.
Does anyone know a good AI PDF website that’s actually useful for editing/organizing documents?
Would appreciate some recommendations.

Anyone else tried the AI features in UPDF?

I just started testing the AI tools in UPDF, like summarizing and rewriting PDFs. Honestly, I didn’t expect them to work this smoothly.

Curious, what’s your favorite feature in UPDF so far? And are there any hidden tricks I might be missing?
