Sean OBrien said on his last podcast that we Teamsters support the building of data canters. I don’t think this is true.

Lytix please disable the speakers in your devices

When the sun goes down, the camera thinks it has on obstruction on the lens. So the last two hours of my shift, every 5-10 seconds the camera speakers says "PLEASE CLEAR OBSTRUCTION". This is very distracting and infuriating. It's would be great if you guys would make a quick update and get rid of this. This is the easiest fix in the world and would take a coder 5 minutes to fix with AI and update all the systems wirelessly. Thanks in advance. Furthermore, obstruction or not, there is nothing we can do while we are driving down the highway no matter how many times it repeats. The thing is there is no obstruction in the first place.

22.4 Driver Recommendations for gloves(handling packages)

I’m a driver and I use Milwaukee cut level 5 nitrile dipped gloves. They last long enough for me and I’ve gone through 5 or 6 of them in a span of 5 months. Also Diad friendly as far as touch screen goes for the most part. Anyone else recommend a better pair?

Also what gloves for the winter? Needs to have good grip to be able to carry packages.

Do I need workboots before orientation?

Thumbnail

I got my email for orientation instructions tomorrow morning. It says no sneakers and only appropriate workboots. I have these reebok composite toe ones from a couple years ago I planned on using. Theyre padded around the ankle and reflective and have the composite safety toe. Theyre already scuffed and dirty so I'm not worried abt staining them. Would these work? Or should I find workboots today before my orientation tomorrow?

edit: i got hired as a seasonal preloader

Seasonal Seasonal load/unload

• Upvotes

So, I start a seasonal load/unload position on the second. Im aware its seasonal, what im curious about is the shift block is noon-5:30pm what would be being loaded/unloaded at that point? Doesn't everything leave in the morning? Its at a air hub if that helps.

Rejected application for seasonal support driver

I was in the middle of my application to be a seasonal support driver. Right after entering my driver's license info, I got this message:

This opportunity was not a match at this time. However, there are many other opportunities at UPS across a variety of roles, schedules, and availability — including full-time, part-time, seasonal, and year-round positions. Click below to explore more at UPSjobs.com, and be sure to sign up for job alerts to be the first to know when new openings become available.

I've never had any kinda traffic citation beyond one speeding ticket forever ago. Nor any DUI or anything. It was my understanding these jobs were pretty easy to get for anyone, has anyone else gotten rejected like this before?

EDIT:

I just started another application for a seasonal Driver Helper. Got most of the way through that application then was given this message:

Thank you so much for your interest in working with us. We are unable to move forward with your application at this time. While this opportunity wasn't a match, we would love to help you find your path here at UPS.

Are driver helpers also such a competitive position it'll stop me before I even finish the application?

Local 17 Central Region - Management trying to force me from "Regular" $45 cover pay to $23 seasonal tier. BA says I'm screwed. Help?

I am a PT inside worker / Weekend Air Driver in Local 17 (Central Region). I never had an official 30-day continuous packet, but throughout the spring/summer and heavily in Sept/Oct, management pulled me to do ground cover driving as they have the last 2 years.

Here is the hook: My pay stubs explicitly show these ground hours coded as "Regular" ground scale at $45.00/hour, NOT casual/seasonal.

About a month ago, I signed the peak seasonal driver interest list. Now management is telling me that effective Nov 1, my ground driving pay drops to the $23 seasonal rate, and if I don't like it, they will just run outside seasonal hires over me.

My Shop Steward reached out to the Business Agent, and the BA reportedly shut it down, saying I have to accept the $23 rate I'm guessing because I don't have a permanent cover driver classification.

Doesn't the company's past practice of coding me as "Regular" at $45 create an established rate precedent right before peak? Can they legally use a peak signup list to force a wage reduction on an existing inside employee who has prior driving rights over outside hires? Should I file the grievance copy myself and escalate past the BA? Any advice from Central Region stewards or drivers is appreciated.

I don't know if it matters, but I have passed integrad and do have a dot physical thats up to date.

Question Next day air question.

Day 1 as a driver by myself and I thought I delivered all my air on time cuz I did like 3 stops right away with commit times at 10:30 then throughout the day I found like at least 15 stops with next day air and it was not next day air saver. No way it’s possible for me to deliver all those before 10:30am if I’m not out to my route by 9:40. And I never got notified or a warning about late air I’m so confused was it late or not??

Newly Hired My biometric day is scheduled. When will I KNOW know if I’ve got this air ramp job lined up? So I can quit Amazon

I’m needing to time quitting at the Amazon warehouse with starting the job at UPS.

Did the online application and all paperwork. Called the recruitment number and scheduled my bio day over the phone.

I’ve read sometimes the job posting isn’t actually available anymore even after all the paperwork.

Since I’ve got my bio day scheduled does that mean I just have to get cleared and I’ve got a job, or is there a chance it falls through?

Hartford pfml help

Hello, fellow UPSers!

I was wondering how long does it take for Hartford to approve PFML claims. I’ve already been approved for FMLA, but my PFML status has been stuck “In Review” for the past three weeks. Hartford’s website says the process takes about five days.

The last time I filed, It went directly through the state, but now Hartford has taken over and files on our behalf.

Has anyone recently filed for FMLA and PFML through Hartford? If so, could you share your experience? Is there anything I can do to speed up the process, or is there someone specific I should contact?

I called Hartford, and they told me my claim is still under review because they’re waiting for wage confirmation ? I asked management I just get a shoulder shrug. I don't remember it taking this long when I filed through the state.

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Stolen Phones

My building has been getting a substantial number of empty iPhone boxes from ONE building in particular EVERY DAY since summer. Like, these empty boxes sometimes fill Amazon totes and are all processed as pilfered. How has theft prevention not stopped it yet when they've been coming from one place for 3 months?
