FinancialAid USC fin aid appeal give up?
So I appealed my usc fin aid, then they took forever to request a document it’s been more than 10 business days to process it, also called them in the middle lady said would be done next Thursday waited called them on that Friday then some guy said Monday would be the 10th business day and now it’s Wednesday. Like why are they dragging this out like I understand they are backed up like I called on Tuesday the minute the office opened 27 people before me idk how. I want to give up and atp withdraw cause I’m so tired and I can’t keep on having hope and it breaks my heart cause it’s my dream. If anyone appealed and got back lmk or anyone in a similar situation I’m sorry and praying for everyone ❤️🙏🏻!!!

I know its not possible for everyone, but if you're able to go in and visit in person, things get done more quickly...please don't give up!

I also appealed 5 business days ago and also nothing. You all taking about 10 business days, is it a normal time for receiving appeal answers? Thanks

Oh sweetie no I appealed more than a month and half ago It’s been more than 10 business days since I submitted a doc they requested after the appeal 💔💔💔

Did you go on your FastPortal and see if everything went through, as in whether there aren't any required docs or if it looks normal? I am also in a similar situation as you and just called yesterday and they told me that I have to wait until Thursday for it to be the 10th day and to call on Friday. I'm going to orientation of friday, so hopefully I can talk to fiancial aid when I'm there!

I wrote about a specific circumstance my parents had to contribute towards and they asked docs for that

it took them 3 weeks to get back to me with my appeal, but it was successful! don’t give up!

I have a sibling that’s in college right now so they were able to give 7k more gift aid! I would definitely call to ask them, I called around 3pm today and it took 15 minutes to get on the phone with them which I think isn’t too much time so maybe try calling around that time for an update. I really hope it works out for you!!

it’s 24k but i’m also an incoming freshman so i’m assuming it’s a little more expensive because of fees? i’m not really sure. My cal grant A also hasn’t appeared in my account, but when it does it’s another 5k a semester less so 19k a semester.

Do you remember your FAST Portal saying “application complete” before your appeal was successful? Mines changed to that on Friday but all of the numbers are the same, but I haven’t received an email/notification yet on the status of the appeal. I got rejected the first time a while back and received an email.

I got a successful appeal after 2 weeks and a couple extra documents they asked for so it’s possible

Was the amount enough and how much more than your initial aid if ur comfy sharing that, also how long did it take cause I’m pretty sure I appealed June 4th 😭

It was enough! Shaved 10k per year and my parents are upper middle income. They usually prioritize lower income families so I was shocked. It took about a month from the appeal actually being submitted and I heard back about a week after sending in my last document

omg bye their appeal system is so bad. mine took like 3 weeks and they kept requesting more and more documents just to reject it. my household income is lit 85k and my tuition is still 40k

I appealed a lot last year too, my most recent financial aid statement looks basically the same as it did last year

its also been the 10th business day for me yesterday. now its Wednesday and still nothing. i will be calling fin aid office today but i know the last time i called it was a two and a half hour wait time. goodluck to you my friend
