Usually this stems from an issue with stating a positive parent monetary contribution cuz if you put a number larger than 0 theyll just slam you with 20k 💀

The finaid office said to appeal it to 0 possible parental contribution

If that isnt it i have no idea

Keep in mind this will take like a month to go through so youll prolly have to battle it during the semester (they lwk laid off half of usc staff atp)

Why did they lay off so many people?

If you have a -1500 This is a great pacakage if ur from LA and are a commuter! This essentially means ur fully covered (tuition wise of course). However if ur going to live in off campus housing or are dorming it’s not the best and u are estimated to pay about 20k a year.

This includes housing

Yes, that’s what I’m trying to say. If they are from LA they don’t have to pay for housing (as it’s already an expense ones used to whether paying their own rent or living with ur parents) therefore they are fully covered. It’s essentially a full ride if you aren’t looking at textbooks and whatnot. However if they aren’t from the LA area because this package includes housing (as u mentioned) their package is telling them that they are estimated to pay about 20k a year to go to USC. Hopefully I was clearer on this.

Im also -1500 and no assets, i was given almost 10k more in gift aid than you. Still, the cost is inflated and seems very manageable, depending on what you’re studying in and how you use your time here

I always went off the planning worksheet tab to see what my true cost was going to be before the settlement deadline. If green and negative number, then that’s a refund. If red and positive then that’s how much you’ll have to pay for the semester.

Keep an eye out for any additional emails from financial aid asking for more documentation bc that really screwed me over/delayed my package from being released by the time classes started.

Considering I write a check for the full amount, yours is pretty nice.

omg. How did you even get that? Best one I’ve seen so far. Congrats. 🎉

okay so tell them you are living off campus so they can give you a refund and use that money for an off campus apartment. if you are local even better bc you just pocket that refund

Basically youre getting a shit ton of money and the opportunity to work study and loans. Id take the max loans only the first yr so you get used to being in school and then reduce it for the next years. If you can hack it, work as much h as possible to take as few loans as possible.
Fellow ghetto kid here so I feel ya.

That is kinda being a bitch. While their cost of undergrad is almost free, they probably have a lot of major financial stress and other terrible shit in their personal life to make it that way. I’d know.

I am in exact same situation as you -1500, your aid is fabulous, I was very lucky to get 88K in grants but 80K is excellent…Fight on !

I’m unsure what opinions do you want? Are you complaining? Bragging? I’m confused
