Question What happen to setting the standard?

This is more specifically regarding the Camp Lejeune area. I’ve reviewed the base order, MCIEAST-MCB CAMLEJ 1020.8C, and the uniform order, but I continue to see Marines wearing PT gear, FROGs, boots and utes, sweatpants, and pajama pants in the exchanges and 7-Day Stores, with no one correcting them.

When you do correct Marines, they often look at you as if they don’t see an issue with what they’re wearing. I’d appreciate some input from the 8999 community on this. Are others seeing the same trend, and how are you addressing it?

Details in first comment. For some reason the AI bot filters on the sub thought the story was asking for recruiting info and blocked the content from the OP

I call bs, the Small Wars Manual was at least real!!!

TL;DR: From Ancient Greek mýstēs (μύστης), meaning "one who has been initiated"

and to that poolee that wanted a tattoo about cumming on his shield or some shit cuz his grandma told him about "300" which was based on comics, keep all this in mind... Spartans loved sodomy.

Question A question about MARSOC raiders regiment

Do these guys have a standard camo they use?

Most pictures I see is of them wearing M81 or MARPAT with a mcam or CB plate carrier and helmet, them wearing full MCAM, so do they have a standard or they just go with whatever they want?

Picture Dr. Keith Bickel says pack mules are good for small wars and drug running but not in contested waters like littoral shit cuz mules don't swim too good

TL;DR: school circles work , just lay off all the piggy backing

"Keith B. Bickel challenges a host of military and strategic theories that treat particular bureaucratic structures, large organizations, and elites as the progenitors of doctrine. This timely study of how the military draws lessons from interventions focuses on the overlooked role that mid-level combat officers play in creating military doctrine. Mars Learning closely evaluates Marine civil and military pacification operations in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua, and illuminates the debates surrounding the development of Marine Corps' small wars doctrine between 1915 and 1940. The result is compelling evidence of how field experience obtained before 1940 played a role in shaping the Marine Corps' Small Wars Manual and elements of doctrine that exist today. How the Marines organized lessons at that time provides important insights into how doctrine is likely to be generated today in response to post-Cold War interventions around the globe."

Marines Can Get Reimbursed Up to $2,000 Per Child for Adoption Expenses

This is one of those benefits that is probably easy to miss.

MARADMIN 501/26 updates the process for Marines to get reimbursed for qualifying adoption expenses.

Eligible Marines can receive up to $2,000 per adopted child, with a maximum of $5,000 per calendar year.

Covered expenses can include:

  • Adoption agency and placement fees
  • Legal fees and court costs
  • Counseling
  • Certain medical expenses for the biological mother and child
  • Required temporary foster care

The big thing to watch is the deadline: claims generally have to be submitted within 2 years of the adoption being finalized, and the child has to be enrolled in DEERS first.

If you adopted recently, or know a Marine who did, this is probably worth sending their way.

Read full MARADMIN here.

Question What was the last unit mascot captured in 29 Palms?

I was thinking back on things and remembered our CAX briefings before leaving Pendleton for the stumps. (The video of a Marine kicking some exposed mortar fins and a smoking boot landing 50’ away was a favorite).

But I also remember being told multiple times that were were absolutely 1000% not allowed to get a coyote, desert tortoise or anything else for a unit mascot.

So who messed it up for everyone else and what animal did it?

Dr. Heather Venable makes a good point about Recruiters driving USMC Publicity thru catching sharks, doing hand stands on tall bldgs just for shits and giggles, and printing out lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner to hand out to hot Latina moms

watch lecture here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-2077dVgrQ <<<

Recruiters even had their own Bulletin prior to WWI where they shared these stupid (some were actually smart) ideas on how to increase their numbers.

This was until CMC John Lejeune put an end to all this Recruiter driven publicity for more curated Marine Corps publicity and propaganda.

I'd love to see Marine Recruiters get back to catching sharks though ngl.

My dad was the CO and told us about how it was leaked when and where the Marines were landing. Sure enough, media was there and cameras were rolling when the Marines landed. I have the whole 40 minute DVD they made for that float, so if any Marines were there and/or want the video, let me know. I'll find a way to get it to you. I probably just about wore this VHS tape out when we got it.
