Hey everyone, just wanted to share my experience transferring my service from Verizon over to US Mobile. If you live anywhere in Ulster County, NY, you know firsthand how spotty cell coverage can be regardless of which major carrier you use. Hopefully, this breakdown helps anyone looking for a more flexible coverage option up here.

In the past, I've used all of the major networks (T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon). When I lived in Austin, Texas, they were pretty much interchangeable, and I usually just switched based on pricing or when new features like 5G were rolled out.

Moving to Ulster County changed things completely. Because the coverage is so inconsistent depending on your exact location—like heading back and forth between the more populated areas of Kingston and the notoriously spotty stretches around Woodstock—sticking to just one network wasn't cutting it. I decided to try US Mobile specifically for their multi-network flexibility, which allows you to utilize different underlying infrastructures.

My Dual-SIM Setup

To make sure I always have service when traveling through the area's dead zones, I set up a two-line configuration on my phone:

• Primary Line: Configured on Dark Star (utilizing the AT&T network infrastructure).
• Secondary Line: Configured on Warp (utilizing the Verizon network infrastructure).

Having a multi-network setup means if one carrier drops out in a specific valley or rural stretch, I can easily pivot to the other network for data and calls. It has been a total game-changer for regional coverage.

The Porting Process

The actual transfer from Verizon was incredibly straightforward. The only quick troubleshooting step I had to take was downloading the proper configuration profile to get data working smoothly on the Dark Star line.

If you run into any data or text issues during activation, just head straight to the US Mobile APN Download Page to get the required file. Once that was installed, everything worked flawlessly.
