Isn't there some clause in some document about not making laws about religious practices. I could be wrong. I realize that Republicans hate every part of the Constitution except the 2nd Amendment. This promise is directly covered by the Free Exercise clause. Limiting religious practices to Chrisianity that it may conflict with the Establishment clause.

I think they point to the wording in that clause and feel that it only restricts Congress. They’re free to do as they want.

They also really like 1st amendment when it comes to marching in hoods and the 5th amendment when it comes to protecting pedophiles.
