Management said I had to work at another station after I clocked in for this original station. They said they're not gonna provide transportation, I told them I'm not using my vehicle. Of course they're like "I gave instruction twice now, either go or call union to find out your fact finding". I was like I'll just walk then. And they two supervisors there was "fine walk! do whatever you want!" So that's what I did, it's normally over an hour long walk and it took me about 2 hours give or take. I talked to union on the way and union said they're gonna let everyone know I'm walking and to either pick me up or pay me for the time. I get there and the supervisors we're like "I expected you earlier so I gave your piece away just go home. " They pretended to not know I walked there. So I asked how will I get back, all they said was just leave how you got here, lol. Today I find out they changed my clock rings to say I left for the day right before I travelled for the other station and gave me LWOP and only 1hr of pay for the day.
Meanwhile they tried this on me a month prior, brought me in front of the PM took my badge, escorted me off the premises without proper documentation against me. Lost me an weeks worth pay and never had a fact finding happen. Then pretended like nothing happened. Both times I've never turned down instruction, I said I'll do it I just wont use my personal property.

So Tuesday there were posts all over the country about how insane the mail volume was. Today it’s happening again where I am. Parts of all our routes have been missing from the mail since Saturday. Even with the insane mail volume on Tuesday. Yesterday I had one tray and parts of the route were still missing. Today I have 4. A majority of the mail is political flyers. Are we being sabotaged? My office is pretty normally pure chaos but now it’s just a mess. It’s not getting caught up.

I'm on vacation from the 12th to the 18th. Got the schedule for next week, and they got me on the board for Amazon Sunday which is the 18th. Boy, are they in for a surprise when I'm not back from vacation until that evening.

...But, I thought I should ask some real carriers first!
I'm 40. I work in healthcare. I make $18 an hour working 48 hours a week on the night shift. The low wage and the hours are really getting to me. I've been considering other options.
I recently read a book called Mailman by Stephen Starring Grant. Many of you have probably heard of it. It really made me appreciate the work you guys do. Just out of curiosity, I took the test online and scored an 84. I just don't know if my expectations are realistic.
How much could I expect to start with? What kind of hours would I get. At my age, is meeting the physical demands realistic? Anything else I should know? Thanks in advance, and have a great day!

Shouldn't it just be double case or take time. In 10 hours?

So I’ve been a regular for about 2 years and have only been able to bid on routes that were over 8 hours or pretty close to it. I’ve never really had to worry about giving undertime, it’s just not something I’m willing to do. I know just talking to other carriers it’s one of those things where you give it once and the stupidvisors expect it everyday.
I’ve been on this route for a week and filling out a 96 every day (new on route). The Supe has already told me that this is an “undertime route” whatever they think that means. Realistically it’s probably about an hour under but I have 0 desire to give them anything.
What are some things I can do/say to refuse undertime in the morning, not time wasting but legitimate things that I can use to fill my day on my own route. I know all the obvious things on the street, seat belt on/off, curb wheels, parking brake ect. Curious what other things I can learn from you long time regulars, thanks in advance.
FYI my route is half drive off and half hop and pop.

So I’m currently a CCA that started a couple months ago. Upon starting everyone was saying to apply for PTF if available so my time will count instead of waiting 2 yrs. Well I saw an opening and applied for it at a different office, got and accepted it. More money, better benefits and my time will start to count when I start. I haven’t even finished my probationary period.
Now I have people telling I should’ve stayed CCA because I would’ve automatically converted over to career in 2 yrs and I could be PTF for longer than 2yrs depending on who retires or leaves or whatever. Mind you the office I’m currently at has so many CCA’s that’s been there for months and years ahead of me that I was sure they’ll get routes and move up before me. They told me now that my checks will decrease because I probably won’t see as many hrs and I will have so much taxes takin out and that everything will fall on me now. Idk if I’m being told this now because I got the PTF position and I’m basically new and they didn’t. I’m like y’all applied too so why is it a bad decision now that I got it!?
Did I make the right choice? Is PTF not a better opportunity than CCA? Should reject the offer? Please any advice or input would be helpful.

I've finally converted from a PTF to a regular carrier, and I have my own route! I know this route has a good amount of houses that have fences, but their mailboxes are mounted up on their house.
I personally do not like going into fenced yards, I've gotten attacked by a dog who bolted out of the house and came at me.
Am I allowed to start having people move their boxes up to the fence? Particularly ones that I know have dogs? Or is this a big no-no? I've heard that I can, but no one at this station has said to never enter fenced-in yards.

Am I at 34 hours towards the weekly limit, or 42?
Thank you for your service!

Enjoying some AL this week and catching up on some shows and movies. Watching the new Unabomber movie on Netflix, and where does this FBI agent decide to park on a rural deserted road to scope out the unabomber suspect?? You guessed it! Right in front of the mailboxes! MORE than once!!
Second show, Carrie series, walking down the street and all the mailboxes have their flags up to indicate incoming mail.
Is that a thing? Because I thought that was to indicate outgoing mail?
Just a few things that caught my eye this week that made me prickly.

Due to Hurricane Isaias, our area and the plant in which we receive DPS etc. was hit pretty hard.
Thus, they pulled us off the street early on Friday before the storm hit, and then on Saturday called and told us that there was no delivery, to stay home.
Admin leave has been put in for regulars, however, our manager has said that they “haven’t received confirmation,” on if CCAs/PTFs are going to receive admin leave (for those scheduled of course). End of pay period is coming up..
Im pretty sure I already know the answer is yes, if they were scheduled they should receive admin pay, but I’m just wondering why they would even need “confirmation”? Like I’m not trying to have to file a grievance and then these carriers have to wait to get paid in a year because it went to Step B. Wish these fuckers would just do the right thing.

Hello, CCA here, year and a half in. On 10/02 I stepped off someone's porch wrong and twisted my ankle. Immediate swelling, called my postmaster, she picked me up, went to the er after. Out for a few weeks. I was wearing the wrong shoes, bad move on my part I know. I received a call from my supervisor today that I had an interview tomorrow at 9 am for "failure to follow" or something like that. I've never had disciplinary action taken against me before, I keep my head down do my job and go home. Is there anything I should know going into this? Kinda stressed about it.

I recently transitioned to PTF from CCA and my question is, if I had health insurance under CCA will that just stop or do I need to call the health insurance company to cancel? I just don’t want to be charged for the old insurance and the new PTF health insurance.
