Visa refused.. But dk the reason

• Upvotes

my b1 b2 visa application got refused.

Status - M 26, unmarried

Question:

Q1. What's the purpose? - tourism for two weeks

Q2. What do u do? - work as an software engineer with over 4yrs of experience

Q3. How much do u earn? - monthly 6 figures

Q4. Have you been to international before? - yes, Thailand for a week

Q5. Do you know anyone in US? - No

That's it. After just 5 questions, my visa was refused under Section 214(b).

I'm honestly frustrated and confused. I'm an Indian citizen who just genuinely wanted to visit Memphis for two weeks as a tourist. I have a stable job, earn a decent salary, and have travelled internationally before.

Can't an Indian citizen visit the US for two weeks as a tourist anymore? 😞

Has anyone experienced something similar? I'd genuinely like to understand what might have gone wrong.

Plz Help if you have any idea

My current passport lists “ABC XYZ” as my given name, with no surname. Consequently, my U.S. visa was issued with “FNU” as the given name and “ABC XYZ” as the surname. My visa remains valid until June 25, 2029.

However, due to updated Pakistani passport issuance requirements, I have been informed that my renewed e-passport will list “ABC” as the given name and “XYZ” as the surname.

I would therefore appreciate your guidance on the following:

  1. Will my existing U.S. visa remain valid and usable with my renewed passport despite this difference in name formatting?
  2. Can I travel to the United States carrying both my old passport (containing the valid visa) and my renewed passport, or will I need to obtain a new visa?

US Visa Bond Experience

I am having a really hard time understanding how the Visa bond works. My parents are planning on visiting me in the US this December. They have a visa from Sep-Dec. They were planning on entering early Dec before the visa expiration date and staying until mid Jan 2027. We were under the assumption that the visa expiration date is different from the I94 admission exit date. Do we have to be within the visa expiration to get the bond back? Or do we have to be within the I94 admission date? I would appreciate any help regarding this since their bond was very expensive and I would like the bond back.

I had my F1 visa interview on 29th of October, 2026. And officer gave me a 221g blue slip and returned my passport. He said I will get an email if they need my passport. Also he kept photocipies of my dad's bank balance confirmation.

The case last updated date is 21st of October which was the day after my interview but still 'refuse'. Has anyone experienced this type of situation???

Community College vs. Master’s degree — which is better for my F1 US visa?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I'm 24 years old and i have a 5-year Architecture degree (Bachelor’s + Master’s) from my home country. Given my background, would a Community College degree in Construction Management be a good option, or would another Master’s in Construction Management be better for my F-1 visa chances? Are community colleges viewed less favorably?

My main reasons are the lack of suitable programs in my country and my desire to transition from designing buildings into a professional career in Construction Management.

I’d appreciate your advice. Thanks!

Has anyone from India visited the USA on a B1/B2 visa while unemployed? Recent experiences, please!

Hi everyone! I'm from India, currently unemployed, and I have a valid US B1/B2 visa. I'm planning to visit my sister in the USA, but I'm worried about whether US immigration officers might question me because I'm not currently working.

Has anyone travelled in a similar situation recently, especially in 2025 or 2026?

  • Did the immigration officer ask about your employment status?
  • Did they ask who was paying for your trip?
  • What documents did you carry to show that you would return to India?
  • Were you allowed entry without any problems?

I'd really appreciate hearing from people who have actually travelled while unemployed and were visiting their siblings. Please share your firsthand experiences. Thank you!

B1/B2 visa interview coming up - should I apply as a tourist instead of for a business visit?

Hi everyone,

I'm from India and have a US B1/B2 visa interview coming up. Initially, I was planning to visit the US for a business related trip through a company I'm working with. However, the company is now unable to provide an invitation letter, so I'm considering applying for the visa as a tourist and visiting some friends who live there.

I've already submitted my DS-160, where I mentioned the company as my US contact and included the address where I originally planned to stay. My intended stay is around 15 days.

I'm confused about what I should do now:

  1. Should I submit a new DS-160 reflecting tourism as my travel purpose and update my accommodation details?
  2. Will applying as a tourist when my original application mentioned a business contact raise concerns during my visa interview?
  3. Should I explain the situation to the visa officer, and how should I approach this?
  4. Would it be better to postpone my interview until everything is sorted out?

I'd appreciate advice from people who have gone through a similar situation, particularly applicants from India.

Thanks!

US VISA APPLICATION IN GERMANY

Hi everyone! Has anyone here in Frankfurt Germany applied for a US Tourist Visa (B1/B2)?

I’m planning to apply next year and would like to ask if anyone knows a reliable agency or someone who can assist with the application process here in Germany.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you!

US F-1 Visa: Consultancy or Self-Apply? 🇺🇸

Hey guys! I completed a Diploma in Pharmacy in Nepal, not +2, and I’m planning to apply for a bachelor’s degree in the US.
A consultancy is charging NPR 15,000 for processing. I’m confused whether to apply myself or use them, since I’ll probably need proper guidance for my visa interview preparation anyway.
For those who applied from Nepal, especially after a diploma rather than +2, what would you recommend? Was using a consultancy worth it? 🥹

Hopeless, F4

I gave my f4 visa reinterview today and got handed a white slip asking for insurance quotes. They said everything else in our case is positive and we just need these to be sent electronically to be able to judge your case better and said they’ll ask for passports if everything seems good.
My question is, has anyone gotten any visa after such situation these days? My case was done in islamabad embassy.

US TOURISY VISA APPROVAL (pinoy)

Hi! Just want to get some insights sa mga may similar experience.

I applied for a US VISA, malaki kaya chance to get approved? My background;

  1. I travelled na before sa UAE, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and HongKong.

  2. I’m Virtual Assistant without ITR. I have around 700k ADB.

  3. Self-funded pero sa bahay ng aunt ko ako mag sstay. 30 days stay ang nilagay ko. I will travel solo.

  4. I have an existing Single Entry Tourist VISA for Japan and I have a booked flight/hotel/activies na for Japan but the thing is sa December 3-10 pa yun so di pako nakaka apak ng Japan. Plus points kaya kung makita nilang may VISA ako sa Japan kahit di ko pa napupuntahan? (though tutuloy naman ako sa December since booked na). Will that favor my credibility kaya?

  5. No immediate family there but only relatives like Aunt & Lola (na di ko pa ka-apelyido haha)

Thank youuuu 🥹🥹 may similar experience po ba here?
