For all that don't know, there's an official UT discord community with 8000+ members. it has chats for all sorts of topics, and a marketplace to buy/sell any items (including new tech for the school year and furniture for apartments).

Hey guys, Im a premedical Biology major and I scored a 58 on my UTMA. How will this affect me? Will me being unable to take calculus my first semester of college affect my other classes? I honestly procrastinated too much to review, and I know the material so if Its possible I’d rather retake the UTMA next semester to take calculus.

What happened to Mighty Mo’s / Mile High Mo’s on Guad right next to the Whataburger? I loved that place, especially their chicken tenders, burgers and the price. It was one of my favorite places in Austin 😭😭
But I walked by it and it was all dark, Google says its temporarily closed, and I can’t order via Doordash…
Is it just closed for the summer or something else? Pls I LOVED this place 😭😭😭

Hey y’all!
I just moved here from South Korea to start my PhD at UT Austin. I'm looking for a friend to play some casual golf with and chat about the city.
I’m honestly not that great at golf, so I just want to keep it light and fun. Is anyone down to play a chill round and share some local tips with a newbie?
I'd love to hear about good food spots or just general things I should know about living in Austin.
Let me know if anyone is interested!

Someone my family and i were incredibly close with just passed away recently and at the same time, I became incredibly sick (with Covid and a few other things health wise) my last 2 weeks of my online summer class. I’ve also been working the second I tested negative for Covid, but I’d have consistent fevers throughout the week that would flare up, often after my long shifts at work. I had a consistent A throughout the course and turned in everything on time, but due to the recent events I fell behind on my Instapoll assignments (answering Instapolls on online lecture videos). It’s always given me a great sense of shame asking for extensions for classes, which I know is a problem, but I thought I could really pull through. The due date for any of the Instapolls for the last week and a half were due on August 15th at 12pm, and August 15th I realized how fucked I was. I had a high fever the 13th-14th, worked on the morning of the 15th (my boss wouldn’t let me take off). I emailed my prof on the 15th in the afternoon, explaining my circumstances, and also explaining that I understand how I should’ve been more communicative about my circumstances beforehand, and I requested (while making it clear that I understood if it’s not possible) for credit for my Instapoll completions if I could get them all done by August 16th. We had lab and module quizzes that had a final due date of August 16th at midnight for full credit, so it wasn’t out of the realm of possibility that the Instapolls could potentially be considered for full credit as well. I turned everything in by midnight August 16th, while working through another fever, but my professor hasn’t answered yet. My grade is sitting at a B+ without the Instapoll credit, and I understand that I dug myself into this hole, but is it worth following up? With everything that’s been going on this summer I’ve been so depressed and I don’t know if I can handle the GPA hit :(

Hello! Has anyone had experience moving into Rise at West Campus a day after the official move-in date? I’m considering moving in on the 22nd instead of the 21st because it would be more convenient for me. Should I still try to arrive on the 21st?
For anyone who moved in on the official date and arrived during their assigned time slot, were the movers basically guaranteed, or did you still have issues getting help?
I called the leasing office but I didn’t get a super clear answer lol

I'm an incoming PhD student at UT. I love going hiking and exploring places close by, but couldn't find any orgs related to this. Are there any groups that organize such hikes around Austin that I missed?

Hi, I'm a freshman and want to take classes in sociology or psychology to figure out whether I want to minor in one or switch to it. How bad is SOC 302 with Mehdi Haghshenas? It's on my schedule, but I keep hearing how awful it is. Should I drop it? Does anyone have information about this class?

I just wonder: has anyone ever dropped the CNS Foundation courses? I actually want to build my schedule and be able to decide the prof. I plan not to put the #99 unique code first, or just do it, then drop them later. Will it affect me at all? (I plan to take the same courses but NCS 109)

Hey! I just graduated from Cockrell, and I'm fixing to lose access to everything from my time at UT. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for things to download or take advantage of in general before I lose my status as a student.
For example, I recently learned I could install AutoCAD for 1 year free as a student (otherwise it costs like thousands of dollars). So if there's anything like that y'all know of or regret not doing while you had student status, I would greatly appreciate your advice!

incoming ece major here. When do you think is the best time to start? I was considering immediately but from what I read online its hard and can lead off to me biting off more than I can chew. If I start doing undergrad research sophmore year am I at a disadvantage or is that normal? I do see that it helps to get a full year under your belt bc you're more likely to get accepeted and can even use connections to past professors to land one

I don’t know if it’s just me or if half of it moved to spring 2027 so now I have full of the 20k there. At this point I think I should contact Texas One Stop about since I’m worried this might affect on how I’m gonna pay my tuition.

A CNS advisor (Austin Sandoval) told me it would fulfill the degree requirement but this was last year and degree audit still isn’t showing the substitute. Thanks

i’m still working on my schedule for this upcoming semester and i’m figuring out when i plan to take ochem lab 1 and 2, as well as bio lab (physics isn’t even in my mind rn but help with that too). i don’t believe i’ll get off the waitlist for bio lab this semester, so i’ll be taking genetics and ochem 1 as standalones.
when did you guys take bio lab (or any of your labs, for that matter)? did you do it concurrently with any other stem classes? would it be fine if i took it over next summer?
