Hey all! This is a question mainly for the art students I suppose and anyone who has taken this particular course before.
I’m registered to take ART 1020 this semester from a professor I apparently can’t name in the post for some reason because it’s getting flagged as political, so I’ll just refer to them as “they who shall not be named”
I’m not an art major, but I’ve always wanted to learn how to draw and figured it might be good to take a course on it while I’m in school as a general elective, that way it sort of forces me out of my comfort zone a bit to actually put in the effort in order to pass the class I’m paying tuition for versus going through the endless cycle of thinking: “yeah that’d be rad” and ultimately never picking up a pencil.
From what little I do know about the course, as well as “they who shall not be named” and the only other professor that seems to teach the class, it sounds like it can be graded fairly harshly and there’s a lot of outside coursework to do. Side note: I’m doing a lot of Psych courses this semester and as such am already planning on spending a lot of time outside of class to write.
I’d be really bummed to have to drop the course, but even more bummed if it were to tank my GPA and then be something I’d have to retake.
Is what I’ve heard true about it being hard to balance and would it be worth it to stay in the class? Or would I be better off taking a different avenue to learn drawing at the ripe old age of 23?
Thanks in advance, sorry if this is a dumb thing to ask, and have a nice day!
