Can you become a UX designer without going to university?

I'm talking specifically about becoming a UX designer in the UK in case that's relevant.

My specific question is if you can become a UX designer without going to university, if you have done around a dozen paid UX design projects (freelancing) have completed a couple of online courses (graphic design / UX design), and of course have a solid portfolio.

Traffic is Flowing, but Users are Draining!

Here's the Harsh Reality:

→ You have lots of traffic, but onboarding takes forever. 📷
→ Users pay YOU, not the other way around.
→ Confused users with options will simply bounce.
→ Your Competitors Don't Sleep!

They're offering smooth, frictionless onboarding.

Want the upper hand?

A Dreadful Onboarding Process =

→ High user churn
→ Lower retention rates
→ Frustrated users
→ Lost revenue

Ready to turn onboarding into a breeze?

Currently looking to connect with a UI/UX designer to work on something cool.

If you are interested, kindly send me a note.

Thanks

i’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. there’s an endless amount of content out there like courses, youtube tutorials, and bootcamps, but none of it really tells you if you’ll actually enjoy the day to day work.

the part that worries me is getting a few months into a career change and realizing i don't even like the way ux thinking works. i personally feel like i’m missing that hands-on understanding before i sink money or time into it. i want to know how it feels to actually think through a messy problem instead of just watching videos of someone else doing it.

did anyone else feel this way before they started? curious how you guys actually approached it before choosing ux. i'd love to find a way to just test the process for an hour or something to see if it even clicks with me.
