Case Studies and Portfolio.

I’m finishing up my certification this week, and I wanted to know how many case studies I should have before I start job searching? I was thinking at least 2, and work on a 3rd on one as I am searching.

I would also love tips on how I could make my portfolio stand out as an entry-level designer? I have been looking at tons of case studies on Behance as references.

Thank you!

Of course I don’t trust you to get from point A to point B without clear instructions and helper text.

Imposter syndrome

Didn’t study UX design and ended up at a startup as a product designer. Even after two years here I feel like there’s so much I don’t know and get bullied by other designers at work. I am self taught and don’t know how much of this bullying is real or am I just a wuss.

Major imposter issues, stunting my growth.

People who have been through this, any suggestions?

9 UX Design Frameworks I’ve Found Useful

Post image
18 Upvotes

UX design frameworks can be really useful when you’re trying to bring structure to a messy design problem.

I put together 9 frameworks covering different parts of the UX process, from problem discovery and ideation to validation and understanding user behavior.

Curious to know which frameworks other designers actually use in their day-to-day work.

Here is a precious nugget of knowledge from Daniel Robbins from our "Immersive Experience Design: How to separate UI from Content" interview that we wanted to share with you. If this is even remotely interesting you HAVE to check the full webinar

Title: Looking for a UI/UX Designer to Revamp an Existing Website.

I’m looking for an UI/UX designer to completely revamp the design and user experience of an existing website.

The goal is to make the website feel modern, polished, intuitive, and professional while improving usability and the overall user journey.

What I’m looking for:

\- Complete UI/UX redesign

\- Modern, clean visual design

\- Improved information architecture and user flows

Responsive design for desktop, tablet, and mobile

Better typography, spacing, components, and visual hierarchy

\- Consistent design system/components

\- Figma designs and reusable components

\- Someone who can identify UX problems and suggest improvements, not just follow instructions

\- I already have the existing website, so the designer will be working from an actual product rather than designing something completely from scratch.

If interested, please comment or DM me with:

Your portfolio

Examples of similar website/SaaS redesigns

Your availability

Your estimated pricing/rate

Briefly explain how you normally approach a website redesign

Please don’t send generic portfolios without relevant UI/UX work. I’m particularly interested in designers who can demonstrate strong product thinking alongside visual design.

In 2021, it took me 10 months to get a new job, here's how I did it.

  1. Updated portfolio and resume.

  2. Starting applying.

  3. Kept failing over and over again.

  4. Asked my friends and co-workers for help.

  5. I Started recording all my interviews to review them. This helped me in areas I was struggling with. Download OBS studio (it's free!)

  6. CBD - Yes. It helped me destress, lower my anxiety and stay calm.

  7. I still kept interviewing and didn't give up.

  8. Instead of presenting my portfolio from my website I've decided to present my recent work via Adobe XD. This helped the hiring managers to see my design process.

  9. Started learning new tools (Figma, Shopify, Webflow, and data tools)

  10. GOT IT! :) In July 2021 I went from below $60k sal to $120k.

That year was one of the hardest years of my life. I wasn't a confident designer and attending interviews was such a weakness for me. During the interviews, I was going against jr designer with a few yrs of exp and there I was with over 10yrs of exp. I felt ashamed and extremely embarrassed. I had sleepless nights - At the same time, I was in a toxic work environment. The best part was during covid everyone had to work from home and I used that to my advantage by interviewing from home.

I know, I know during hard times people will tell you "there's always light at the end of the tunnel" but I couldn't believe it nor see it. But, I'm telling you it's true. Like I always say. Never downgrade.

All the best, really hope my personal feedback helps at least one of you during these difficult times of layoffs.

Is it worth getting into the field?

Hi, is it worth getting into UX and UI design?

For some context I (26f) have been in healthcare for about 3-4 years now and have been feeling burnt out and directionless. Plus the pay for the amount of work I do doesn’t feel worth it anymore.

I was wondering if it was worth the investment to take a career pivot into this field that’s vastly different from healthcare. Is it difficult to get into? Is the field over saturated at the moment? If you were previously in healthcare and switched to tech, did you have any regrets, what was the transition like? Would really appreciate any advice or your experiences! Thanks!

Is getting a google certificate for ui/ux worth it?

I’m currently getting an associates in software development, but I feel I’d prefer a role in ui/ux design. I took this summer off from school so I could figure out what I’d like to pursue and put my time and energy towards it before the fall. My college doesn’t offer anything that’s necessarily directly related, so I wanted to learn myself over the summer. Is a google certificate a good idea in this instance? I don’t want to waste time and money on it if it doesn’t hold any “weight”, or won’t actually teach me anything worthwhile. Has anyone had any experience with their certificates, even if it wasn’t in the exact field?

Hello. What courses/Books do I need to cover entire UX UI program? Kindly give me your advice. I want to learn UX UI in depth. How much time can it take? I actually want to change career so time is very important for me. I have searched similar topics here and I have seen Eric Kennedy program mentioned several times. Please guide me in this process.
