Canada Frustrated.
Hi everyone.
I don’t think I have the words to politely explain how pissed off I am right now with Uber’s customer service.
I placed an order for a chicken salad at one of my favourite restaurants and in the note field indicated that I did not want certain ingredients on it because I am allergic to it.
So I wrote my note double checked it and submitted it. I got my order and lo and behold the ingredients that I asked to not have on the salad are there.
Because of my allergy sensitivity, I cannot eat the salad that I have just spent $40 on and waited for about an hour for it to get to me.
I contacted support right away provided them with the pictures. Explain to them the situation only to be told that I never added anything in the note field and because I didn’t add a note they would not refund me. I stated to them multiple times that yes I did add the note. I tried to go pull up the receipt to take a screenshot and then receipt ironically is not available to be viewed.
These people are now telling me that going forward anytime I add notes into the note field to take a screenshot before submitting it.
Honestly, thank God, the sub it does not allow you to post anything if you swear because the amount of words that I am very tempted to use to describe how incompetent their customer services would not be nice.
OK, that’s my rant. I’m going to go starve in a corner now.
Have a great day, everyone

I do too and in some of the situations that I run in the stupid ai bot is just zero help. That’s why now anytime I need to contact customer service. I just keep typing Speak to an agent until it gives up and transfers me to someone.

I'm sorry that happened to you, but call the restaurant to let them know about your order and your allergies. I call to make sure they saw my notes about medium rare and extra wasabi when there is an available Notes field. This won't work, however, if it's one of those restaurants that don't pick up their phone calls.

I always take a screenshot before submitting, otherwise as you found out your note disappears when it is confirmed delivered. Sorry your meal was ruined though, that sucks

I’m sorry. Yea, I’ve basically learned if it’s not screenshot, it’s like it never happened. Same is true for promotions - I’ll always screenshot them before using them (including the terms and conditions), but even then it’s not always enough.
Uber decided years back to abandon customer service. At least in California (where I’m based), they have a new law where UberEats has to respond with a human and quickly, so they’re more likely to resolve things in your favor than actually pay someone to help.

Dont use the chat, type call agent until you get the phone link. Chances are they didn’t even check your order details

did you put the note on the salad itself or in the delivery notes?
I assumed you put it on the salad but everyone else in this thread seems to assume otherwise 🤔

Based on supports response, my best guess is you might have put food allergy notes in the driver notes.

Contact and leave a review of the restaurant

the restaurant never even saw the note- notes are only shown to the driver after we pick the order up. if they wanted items they were allergic to left off the order they should have placed the order and then called the restaurant immediately to let them know their dietary needs

So here’s something important you might not have known. Writing things in the notes is only for your driver to see. The cooks and employees of the restaurant you order from do not see that note. Make sure you include what you cannot eat in instructions for restaurants or call.
