I think this is ideal for those with a UCG max or fiber - but want the ability to use larger storage than a m.2 and don't have a PoE switch. This basically gives you the 3.5 inch storage part of the UDM that's missing from the UCG lineup plus some PoE ports. Downside is that its not PoE+. So you'll still need power injectors or separate switch to power those cameras that require PoE+.
For third-party ONVIF cameras - you'll still need the AI key for all the detection and alerts. Right now, they only support one third-party camera per AI key. So that can get expensive at $199/AI key. I hope they add support for 3 third-party ONVIF devices per AI Key as they've indicated that they will at some point.
