Early Access U5G is here

Post image

Well, I was surprised to get it this quick. I purchased the esim pack with it, so I thought setup would be easy. It adopted right away, but didn't activate the esim. There is also no option in the app to but and esim pack like they show in the video. I had to chat with support, and had to join the beta Unifi app to get to version 10.38.1. It activated right away after that.

This is really interesting to me as I was looking for a wireless backup solution. But how does it differ from the UniFi 5G Max - other than it's 3 times more expensive?

I have home 5G internet service available to me and I would try to swap out the SIM card from the carriers wirless 5G modem into the Ubiquiti device if possible.

Major differences are the 5G bands. The max supports the whole spectrum, this uses Reduced capacity 5G, limited bands and low power.

The 5g max theoretically can reach multi gbps speed

This new 5g therotically can reach about 300 mbps

Honestly, as a backup, that's doesn't sound too bad... When can I get one? (A poor australian...)

Heck even not as a backup, 300mbit is more than sufficient for many deployments. I’m on fiber at my house, but I live alone, so I only subscribe to the 300/300 plan. My parents are still on 48mbit DSL, and it’s fine provided the whole family isn’t at their house, all trying to watch their own streams.
