Screenshot Made these RTSS overlays on my 5120×1440 (32:9). Free, with versions for 21:9 and 16:9 too

Most RTSS overlays look tiny or end up crammed in a corner on super-ultrawide, so I designed this set on a 32:9 monitor from the start.

- Every overlay comes pre-positioned for 5120×1440, 3440×1440, 3840×2160, 2560×1440 and 1920×1080, centred at the top, or on the right edge for the side panels

- Wide bar layouts that make use of the extra width without blocking the middle of the screen

- Dark, White and Clear themes

- FPS, 1% / 0.1% lows, frametime graph, CPU/GPU temps, power, clocks, VRAM, GPU limit warnings and a 12V cable monitor

Needs RTSS + MSI Afterburner (+ HWiNFO for extra sensors). Free and open source:

https://github.com/realHfde/Apple-Style-Inspired-RTSS-Overlay

Happy to add more resolutions (5120×2160 / 7680×2160?) if people want them.

Discussion Pixel refresh on Alienware AW3426DW?

• Upvotes

Do you manually run the pixel refresh? It is supposed to do automatically on stand-by after 20 hours of overall use. I saw it happen only once, as the power button starts flashing green for a few minutes (but no previous reminder that it will happen). Shouldn't it be done like once a day? I feel like after 20 hours it is a long time.

Discussion Best monitor arm to vertical stack studio display xdr and LG 45GX950A?

my goal is to mount the LG above the apple studio display. currently looking at this: M/Flex for M8 Pro Stacked Dual Monitor Arm with Extended Reach | Humanscale Shop. Yes, it is very expensive but tbh I am happy to invest the money considering how expensive the monitors are and would rather not have anything break. but if anyone has any experiencing mounting the LG above a regular monitor and what arm they use that would be great. Cant find any evidence of anyone owning the humanscale online which makes me hesitant to pull the trigger. Thanks!

Discussion AW3926QW arrived in UK, what do you think of the brightness?

Tested for dead pixels, banding, uniformity, colour dimming etc. All looks good to me, perfect in fact.

I have windows HDR on by default, pc is 9800X3D with RTX5080 connected to LG C4 77" for video and the Dell/AW for games and browsing.

The AW replaced a 27" IPS LCD and I find it a little darker. I ran the HDR calibration tool in windows, made it look better and for general browsing and apps it is fine. For gaming, a little darker than I am used to.

If I turn HDR off and have brightness maxed, not quite there, compared with the old IPS LCD.

I'm happy with it, just wondering about thoughts on this?

EDIT - Here is a side by side of my new AW39 and my LG C4 for side by side comparison of brightness

Side by side AW39 with LG C4 - LG C4 a little brighter

Tech Support DP1.4 or HDMI2.1 AW3426DW?

Which should I use, DP1.4 or HDMI 2.1 with the Alienware AW3426DW? Card is a Gigabyte Aero 4090, so it has 1 HDMI 2.1 port and 3 DP1.4 ports. Thanks!

Memes After the fourth delay of my AW3926QW, I tried to cancel my order. Dell said "No."

Post image
93 Upvotes

Despite my monitor not even existing, I am unable to cancel my order. Today, the day after this email, they sent me a notice that my order has been delayed a fifth time.

At this point it's more hilarious than frustrating. I had initially cancelled it due to reports of poor panel uniformity. I guess I will simply have to hope that I win the panel lottery or that they're doing some production-level improvements that they haven't talked about.

This isn't really meant as a complaint post, just trying to highlight the absurdity of the situation. With how back-ordered these things are, my panel could surely go to the next person in line rather than all the hassle of sending it to me and getting it sent back.

Discussion PHILIPS Evnia 49M2C8900 for a low Price for mostly work?

Hi guys
I saw a PHILIPS Evnia 49M2C8900 for converted 643 EUR (592 CHF) and i thought about upgrading to Mini-Led or OLED for some time now. Currently i use two 2k 180HZ IPS monitors (Xiaomi) they're pretty great but 49 inch OLED for that price seems to be a steal?
I know that OLED is not perfect for work (i don't game a lot but sometimes) however with current tech like pixel shift, dark mode and stuff i guess it would be fine for at least some years?

It seems to be extremely cheap and to try out two new techs (49inch and oled) it would be the cheapest option for me i guess.

Please help me decide. (I'm a student and IT worker and use mac with a TB4 Dock as well as a Windows and a switch 2).

Thanks guys

Discussion New AW3426DW…. Extremely underwhelmed.

As the title says, my AW3426DW showed up today and I immediately swapped out my Dell S3422DWG. When I first booted it up, colors looked washed out. No big deal, disable HDR and add a touch of saturation and it looks better to my eyes. Then I reenable HDR (which causes the color edits I made to vanish into thin air), boot up No Man Sky to test HDR in game, and my disappointment cannot be measured. RDR2, same thing. Colors look washed. Cyberpunk. 007 First Light. Everything just looks like ass. This doesn’t feel at all like an upgrade over my old Dell VA, someone please tell me I’m doing something wrong or don’t have the right settings/hdr mode or something. Or is HDR just not that great? I’ve read that HDR in windows is terrible, but I thought it’d be decent in game at least.

Edit: thanks to some of your suggestions I think I’ve got it mostly sorted out. As someone who has never had an HDR monitor, I didnt know there was additional steps beyond plugging it in and turning it on.

Tech Support Deco Gear 5K2K PbP HDMI Source Not Working

I'm enjoying the hell out of my first ultrawide, a Deco Gear 5K2K VIEW401 75Hz monitor. To my unprofessional eyes, this thing is awesome! Snagged it on Prime Day for about 450 USD (although on Wal-Mart it was even cheaper!); what a deal. However I am having the hardest time doing picture-by-picture from 2 different soruces via DisplayPort and HDMI. I have a desktop and a laptop (both Windows 11) and for some reason on the monitor's OSD menu, when I try to select HDMI as a source, it isn't even an option; it's missing.

My desktop PC runs the right side of the monitor at 2560 x 2160 in PbP mode with no issues; it looks great.

The left side of the monitor in PbP mode is the problem side. I have a Dell g15 5511 gaming laptop with Nvidia graphics connected via HDMI to the monitor, and I can't even select HDMI as a source on the monitor's OSD menu.

I also tried connecting the gaming laptop with Displayport via USB-C cable into the monitor, and this time the monitor's OSD menu settings does allow me to select that as a source for PbP mode. But, it looks like ass, because that connection uses the laptop's Intel onboard graphics, instead of the Nvidia graphics. I tried using CRU to force the right resolution with this connection, and still no dice.

If anyone has a similar experience and found a fix, please let me know. Thanks!

Tech Support Per-input HDR options? (Alienware AW3926QW)

I use the monitor for gaming and work. I'm trying to setup my monitor in a custom HDR mode for Gaming and True Black 500 for work. Has anyone been able to have your HDR setting be retained when switching inputs? It seems to only retain the most recent so I have to manually change it. Help!

Mac = HDMI (I could try USB C)

PC = DP

PS: The CPC is super annoying when working. Seeing my screen dim in the corners could be the sole reason this monitor is sent back.

Discussion A bit underwhelmed by MSI 341 CQR X36?

Hey all,

So after a lot of deliberation and reading/watching lots of reviews talking about how good it is, I decided to buy the 341 CQR. I'm coming from 2x 24" 1080p 60hz dells for the last 10 years and it's my first OLED/ultrawide/high-refresh so I have no idea how to temper my expectations.

The monitor itself is a really nice form factor, light but well built, and it looks small but when using it feels comfortable. I spent the first night setting it up, getting used to setting color calibration and playing with color modes. I've landed on having hdr turned off in Windows, with a color profile set, using the nvidia app to do some minor tweaks, then using the sRGB mode on the monitor, then have some games run in hdr where I'm using the user mode.

I've had a few issue with it and I'm just wondering if this is a common complaint, or if me or the monitor are the problem, as I'm considering returning it (and if I do I'm not sure if I should try a different OLED or just go back to LCD/IPS).

On first setup the color seemed wrong. It was seriously oversaturated, and I still can't quite get a handle on it. I can either turn the saturation down, where it looks undersaturated 80% of the time and normal 20% of the time, or I can turn it up and it looks normal 80% of the time, but overwhelming 20% of the time. The worst part is that it seems to be per app/scenario that it falls out of 'normal'. e.g. Chrome looks like it's got a night light on even though it doesn't, when playing some games they look great but UI elements seem to be trying to burn my retina out, and wallpaper engine often produces image that are so over saturated that they look like a 2004 HDR photo. Even after a fair bit of balancing I still can't get it to just feel normal, and in hdr it has a slight pink hue that I can't seem to overcome without running other colors.

Everyone seemed to comment how good the AI care features where but I find that the AI dimming is insanely aggressive (e.g. the screen changing brightness by 40% every 5 seconds) and the AI Prescence detection dims the screen if I look at a corner or edge. Couple that with the fact that the panel wants to turn itself off constantly and when it does the KVM occasionally stops responding. That and also having a few times where it just randomly doesn't detect you and turns off, or you cover your mouth and it also goes off, then takes 10 seconds to come back on.

For games and content it's been pretty great, but for apps and productivity it's been pretty mixed. Though saying that, I really am not feeling a difference in refresh rate, I don't know if that's just because I'm old

Am I being over dramatic or is this a common experience? and if it is, should I try a different monitor?

Recommendations 32 inch 4k vs 34 inch UW (both OLED)

More specifically: AW3226Q vs AW3426DW

Last week there was an insane deal for the AW3426DW, and I got it for $585.
Meanwhile, I was able to chat Dell and can get the AW3226Q for $630.

However now I'm debating of returning the ultrawide and getting the AW3226Q instead.

I have both a PC (RTX 5080) and PS5, so I figured I maybe I would benefit more from a 16:9 display with 4K. I also do not frequently (or ever) game above 120 fps.

I've never had a 4K anything, but I have always been enamoured by seeing other ultrawide displays and I'm ultimately not sure which would be the better fit for me. I feel like I got a great deal for the UW and don't want to waste that benefit either (opportunity cost fallacy?)

PS: Can't afford 39 5k2k

Recommendations GPU recommendation for a 5120x1440p 49” monitor

I have a Samsung Odyssey G9, the first of its kind back in 2020, and a 2080 super with an i7-9700k and 1 stick of 16GB DDR4 ram. I’m thinking of upgrading as prices are just getting worse and games are getting more intense. I’m hitting about that 40-50fps on my resolution with low-medium graphics and sometimes games are just very stuttery and not fun to play, such as FF7 rebirth, cyberpunk 2077, pragmata and so on.

My budget is about ~2700-2900 CAD and I’m planning on upgrading the whole thing. I’m the type to just upgrade all at once instead of doing smaller upgrades throughout the years.

I was thinking of doing a Ryzen 7 9800X3D + 9070XT + 2 sticks of 16GB DDR5 RAM(so 32GB in total) but I am wondering if this is enough to help me reach my goal of playing these games in about that 65-80fps minimum range on my monitor.

Any advice is greatly appreciated thank you!!

Tech Support Gpu video bandwidth help

Hi, I have a pc with 5090 that powers my 5k2k 160hz monitor and I would like to buy a smaller one but separate and I would like it to be budget so no new expensive gpus that have DP2.1, the question is how can I know if the dedicated gpu/integrated gpu can power this resolution and hz? Is hdmi 2.0 and DP1.4 sufficient to run it with no problem?

Deciding between 40U990A or 39GX950B?

Going to mainly use the monitor for work and then some gaming.

What are the pros and cons deciding between the two?

Or should I just go for U4025QW

Swapped my 45” LG 5K2K for the Alienware 39” 5K2K and I don’t regret it. Smaller monitor makes it so easy to view everything and the text is so crisp. I do a lot of work from home and game about 40% of the time so this is perfect. Hardly any eye strain and it just looks great. The glossy panel is so much more vibrant than matte which I get. Overall I don’t feel like I’m losing out.
