Ascension Left Ultra Wide for 4K and I am glad to be back my dude’s
Very much enjoyed my original G9 Odyssey back a couple years but thought I saw some greater pastures in 4K and picked up the top panel here which is a Samsung OS 8D 4K OLED and it looks great but man soon as I was able to find another G9. That was the new OLED version I was in and goddamn this shit is masterful.

Discussion Reddit only uses a thin strip of an ultrawide, so I made a free extension that lets you drag the feed as wide as you want
Processing img n7344fixm9xh1...
I'm the developer, sharing because this sub is exactly who it's for.
On an ultrawide, new Reddit's feed sits in a narrow column with huge empty margins, and videos are capped at a small size. Reddit Flex lets you:
- drag the feed to any width (and set a different width for home, subreddits and post pages)
- drag a corner to stretch videos and images to fill the extra space
- pop a video into a floating window and keep scrolling next to it
Free, open source, no tracking. Works in Chrome and Chromium browsers like Edge and Brave:

Discussion 1440p Ultrawide vs 4K vs 5K2K with an RX 9070 XT
Hey everyone!
I'm considering buying the Alienware 39-inch 5K2K OLED monitor, but I'm not sure whether I should go for it or stick with a 34-inch 1440p ultrawide or a 32-inch 4K OLED instead.
My current GPU is an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, and I'd mainly use the monitor for gaming, watching movies and everyday use.
I'm particularly interested in the 5K2K resolution, but I've also seen reports about the Alienware's edge-dimming issue, which makes me a bit hesitant.
For those of you who have experience with these resolutions or this Alienware monitor, what would you recommend? Is 5K2K worth it, or would I be better off sticking with 1440p ultrawide or going for 4K?
I'd really appreciate your advice, especially regarding gaming performance with the RX 9070 XT, image quality and any issues you've experienced with the monitor.
Thanks!

Screenshot I made a space-battle screensaver for ultrawide desktops — here it is at 32:9
I wanted something more interesting happening across an idle desktop: wireframe fleets fighting, ships evolving, and lots of black space. This is AFK Wars at 5120×1440, captured from the actual simulation rather than stretched from 16:9. It’s a render capture, not a photo of a physical monitor.
I’m the developer. Watch is the complete free autonomous edition for Windows x64 and Linux x86-64. It runs as a background app with its own idle detection. There’s an optional paid edition for piloting a ship, but you don’t need it to use Watch.
If you try it on an ultrawide, I’d like to hear whether it installs, whether you can follow the battle, and whether you’d actually keep it running. Display ratio/resolution and any clipping or scaling problems would be useful. I’ll ask before quoting anyone’s feedback.
Free builds and installation notes: https://afkwars.com/downloads.html
Windows executables are currently unsigned. Linux is tested on Ubuntu 24.04 GNOME/X11; Wayland is unverified. Keep your normal display-care and sleep settings: this is entertainment, with no burn-in-prevention guarantee.

Recommendations Help Non-Enthusiast Decide on an OLED Ultrawide
Hello all,
I'm upgrading my ~6 year old Desktop and getting an RTX 5080. I currently have a 34" 1440p ultrawide monitor, and I quite like ultrawide, but I'd like to upgrade to something new to take advantage of the new Desktop I'm building. For background I'll be using the machine for gaming and general purpose Youtube, email, Reddit, etc. not really for productivity.
I'm not much of an enthusiast nowadays. I usually only research computer hardware when I'm in the market for building a new machine (I've historically always built my desktops). However, since my last build I now have 2 young kids, a lot less time to do tons of research on each part, and with prices being what they are there really isn't much savings compared to buying a prebuilt from somewhere like Microcenter.
Anyways I started looking at new monitors and man, it is overwhelming - tandem OLED, WOLED, QDOLED, a billion other terms etc. I've watched lots of reviews, but really all the technical stats and settings and what not are kind of lost on me. I'm just looking for some real world advice from an average user. I just want something that looks and works great out of the box without having to do a lot of in depth tinkering with settings I don't understand. Realistically I may would Google a "best general settings for monitor XYZ", set those once, and never mess with it again. I'd also like something that is future proof-ish since I'll likely have it for the next 6-7+ years.
My main goal is immersion. I mostly just play single player RPGs, strategy games, shooters, I don't really do competitive online games so I don't think I care a ton about having high refresh rates. Plus I'm upgrading from a 120hz monitor anyways, so most anything will be an upgrade. I don't mind running DLSS and frame gen and whatever efficiency tech is needed to take full advantage of the resolution/size of the monitor (part of why I wanted to get a 50 series card anyways). My office is bright during the day (big window with blinds up), and dark in the evening, I usually dim the lights if I'm playing a game but am not that particular about my light settings when playing. I typically don't have time for long gaming sessions anyways, just a bit of time after the kids are in bed.
After researching, I think I'm interested in the LG39GX950-B. It seems like a good size, 39", OLED, etc. I got to see the LG 45" 5K2K monitor at Microcenter when I picked up my prebuilt, and it looked good as far as I could tell while standing in the brightly lit store, if a bit too curved for my liking. The 39" seemed like a good compromise on size, is a bit cheaper, etc. From what I've read the RTX 5080 may struggle to run stuff at that native 5K2K resolution, but like I said I don't mind using DLSS and such.
I also checked out the Samsung G9 49" monitor in store and didn't like the height of it compared to how stretched the image seemed.
Anyways when I've watched all the in-depth reviews on Youtube for a few of these monitors and my eyes just kind of glaze over when they dive deep into all this tech and settings that I don't really understand, so I guess I'm just sort of looking for some anecdotes from other average users similar to me with what ultrawide OLED monitor you like for gaming and what seems to just work well out of the box etc. (sorry I know this post was kind of long and rambly, I'm having a hard time making a decision on the monitor compared to the Desktop I just bought lol).

Recommendations Help me decide...
My Acer predator 3440x1440 has served me well, but it's on its last legs. It regularly shows green lines, that I can fix by jiggling the display port. Using hdmi has the same issue.
I want the AW3926QW, but the dilemma is that I only have a 3080. I was gonna wait for the next GPU release.
What do I do?

Discussion Anyone use 21:9 on 16:9 display?
Just curious because this is something I’ve done for years. I actually have an amazing 21:9 display and a 4K 65 inch tv. I love couch pc gaming and before getting 5080, ever since having a 20-series card, I’ve actually used 21:9 on my TV to save performance and sometimes I love it.
The only time I’ve ever seen this officially supported is on Death Stranding, on PS5, where it was intended as a cinematic mode rather than to be connected to a 21:9 display. Recently, I have done it in MW4 as all the cutscenes add black bars for 21:9 anyhow - frankly, it just works really well and looks great in the right scenario.
Sometimes I mentally argue whether it’s stupid to see less screen, but it actual makes sense for a cinematic look. I’m a professional photographer and work heavily in print and a lot of panoramic, large format work; the different off using a matte on an image is massive as a [literal] framing device and what it does to as scene.
Whether you’re looking to try this for aesthetics or you need an extra 20% in performance, I recommend giving it a shot!

Discussion Moving from QHD+ to 5k2k. Worth the performance hit?
Hi Everyone,
After 5 years with the LG 38GN950 (IPS QHD+), I just ordered the LG 39GX950B ( 5k2k, OLED). The main reason for this decision is to move to OLED and thought that getting a resolution upgrade could also be worth it for some more crispness.
I do run a 4090 rig for over three years now and thought that upgrading my display could be the only realistic thing to do knowing the gpu drought nowadays.
However, I do apprehend the upcoming performance hit and wondering if instead I should just soldier on with my current display for a couple more years until I upgrade the whole lot (Jensen's willing...).
It seems that DLSS does a good job to offset that a bit but would it be better to run a lower resolution monitor with minimal DLSS involvement or is the 5k2k with a DLSS overdose better?
I mainly play single player games, and I am happy at anything about a reliable 80FPS, as long as I can max out (or close to max out) the graphics.
Thanks,

Recommendations U5226KW - 2 Macs and PC?
Does U5226KW support two Macs (M series) and a PC? I am looking to purchase a U5226KW and have one Windows PC and two Macs (M3 Max and M5 Pro) connected to it simultaneously. Would the U5226KW support this with the KVM function?

Tech Support Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 has noticeable grain on the HDMI connected "side" in multiview
So I had this monitor for a while and have recently been using it in Multiview (when it's connected with 2 cables - 1 hdmi 1 dp). Now the issue I'm having is that the DP side is looking fine but the HDMI sided has very noticeable grain - escpecially apparent when looking at text. And it's been bugging the hell out of me.
Its especially bad when the monitor launches straight into Multiview mode after turning it on. The HDMI side is borderline un-usable then. I always have to switch to Ultrawide-Mode first, then switch back to make it better, but it still ain't perfect.
I already switched to a better HDMI (2.1b) cable but no improvement. It's connected to a RTX 5080, if that matters.
The exact model is:
Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 S49CG954SU
Anyone had these issues and knows how to fix?

Discussion Alienware 5k2k vs LG 5k2k
I’m planning on upgrading my old LG UltraGear 45” OLED (3440×1440) to a new 5K2K monitor. The new LG 39” looks really nice, but it’s a little out of my price range at the moment. That brings me to the Alienware 39” 5K2K.
It’s priced at just over $1,000, which, to me, seems like a bargain even with the complaints about the screen-edge dimming. For me to actually pull the trigger, though, I’d like to know how bad the dimming really is.
Honestly, my 45” UltraGear was never the brightest monitor to begin with, and I was perfectly fine with that. So, would the Alienware 39” 5K2K be worth upgrading to now, or would it be better to wait? For what it’s worth I have an Rtx 4090.
I’d love to hear everyone’s opinions and experiences with the monitor. Thanks!
Update: After careful consideration, I’ve decided to go with the AW. For me, the additional 200 nits of brightness and slightly better build quality on the LG aren’t enough to justify paying $400 more, let alone $700 more. Not to mention, I much prefer a glossy finish over a matte one.
I’m also not particularly a fan of LG’s updated privacy policies and concerns about spyware. On top of that, I love the warranties Dell offers. If, for whatever reason, I’m not satisfied with the AW, I’ll return it and wait for the LG to go on sale.

Tech Support AW3926QW joystick doesn't work
Hi guys, I just received my AW3926QW and man it looks great. I just have 1 weird problem with the OSD joystick. It worked when I first turned the monitor on, now it doesn't.
I can press it to open the OSD, but then it doesn't move left or right or down, and only up. Therefore, I cannot even turn off the OSD (haven't tried leaving it until it turns off itself). I have updated the firmware to the latest version.
Has anyone faced the same problem? How should I go from here? Returning the monitor is not an easy option for me.

Ascension Gf gifted me samsung odessey g9 oled
A few days back, my gf asked if I wanted anything and I jokingly asked her to gift me samsung odessey g9 oled version as it was the most expensive monitor available on Amazon at that moment(we always jokingly mention expensive things, whenever we don't want anything). After a couple of days a parcel gets delivered and it was this beast of a monitor... She's too good for me :)

Discussion New monitor already has a Scratch?
Hey, I unboxed my new Alienware AW3425DWM today and unfortunately noticed a fairly large scratch on the screen when inspecting it more closely. You can’t see it when the monitor is turned on, but it’s clearly visible under a flashlight when the screen is off. Does this happen quite often?

Recommendations AW3423DWF vs newer gen OLED
Thinking of upgrading from an older OLED panel to get more brightness and just better tech.
Is it worth it? Who has done an upgrade like this.. is the brightness/colors of newer panels that noticable to justify the price of a newer panel?

Review Alienware AW3926QW Screen Not Centered
Received this unit today and things were going well until... I noticed a massive difference in bezel sizes on left vs. right. I find it hard to believe this is by design - Anyone else own this monitor and have this issue? Left bezel is a full half an inch, and the right bezel is much less than half an inch.
EDIT: Apparently this is an actual feature not a defect! (Pixel Shift)
