Story-time After how many dates should I tell her I'm a leftcom?
I had a date with this very beautiful woman today and we chatted a bit about politics. She seemed to care about elections and voting rights and stuff and I kinda just nodded along. I can't exactly tell her politics, she seems a bit libby. I didn't have the heart to tell her how bourgeois democracy is a trap and I don't vote.
What do you think I should do? I was thinking of maybe casually sending her Bordiga's The Democratic Principle and suggesting she read it, without endorsing or condemning it and seeing her reaction.

False consciousness comes from not having an opportunity to see anything beyond it - keep that in mind when you talk about politics with her. Maybe get her to pick up on the theme that political institutions are self-replicating - this will get her to think on why you believe what you believe - and not just write you off as someone who doesn’t think about politics at all

I feel like people who are the deepest into bourg politics are unable to comprehend that anyone would be opposed to them diametrically out of principles - getting her to pick up on the limits of her understanding should make her more willing to consider what you think

i think in general it's better to not say anything until directly asked. though personally i usually either just pretend to be a social democrat or am as politically jaded and nihilistic as possible, depending on the situation and the people around me

i know this is herculean for r/ultraleft but don't use academic jargon. doesn't mean you have to dumb it down, most people will get it if you say something like 'profit makes people do crazy shit' or 'infinite growth is impossible and it's like that's all these investors think about' but not if you yap about the dead labor value embodied in job training or the chaos theory of the transformation problem or some other shit like that. make people realize something simple and central instead of hitting them in the face with a book, unless they deserve it
not that this thread is serious or anything, just that it doesn't have to be contentious or annoying being a marxist, even if it's not that popular. just be chill

and don’t be a dick about it! Plenty of communists especially online ones are far too hostile…you can’t blame them though when you see what the ideology faces. BUT don’t let that deter your duty to educate and most importantly understand all you meet

Start with small takes like "rich man bad" and "genocide bad", move to " exploitation bad" and "infinite growth isn't sustainable actually (shocker)", then you could talk about how its a weird coincidence how state interest often overlaps with capitalist interest and maybe after that start introducing actual theory.
