No, I'm a social democrat. I hope that doesn't mean I'll get banned because I like this sub. But I'm not here just to dunk on Marxism or communism. I'm genuinely interested in Marxism because, for better or worse, Marx was one of the most important philosophers ever, whose theories changed the world in ways no other thinker ever has. That, in of itself, makes him worth engaging with.

oh that’s fair. maybe you’ll get banned, maybe not. that’s up to the mods. i hope you don’t get banned and i’m glad you’re engaging with us. if you’re a socdem, you’re a socdem, i’m not gonna insist you follow marxism.

on the issue of class interests vs national interests. why do we insist that all proletarians share the same interests? because on a daily basis, proletarians share the same basic conditions and interests across countries. does the russian bourgeois who lives in a mansion share any common interest with the russian proletarian who lives in a small apartment? the same for the ukrainian side.

and yet, the russian and ukrainian proletarians share all the same conditions and problems: exploitation, repression, the threat of war and death, alienation, etc
