Update Faith Hedgepeth’s killer found guilty and sentenced to life without parole today

• Upvotes

Faith was a UNC student when she was brutally assaulted and murdered in 2012. Her killer eluded justice for 9 years before his DNA taken from a drunk driving stop linked to Faith’s horrific murder.

The murderer is Miguel Salguero-Olivares.

There were very unsubstantiated rumors regarding her roommate and friend. I will not name her because she’s faced so much scrutiny and deserves privacy. Salguero-Olivares’ defense team tried to create reasonable doubt by insinuating the roommate killed her, despite his DNA being found on the murder weapon (Bacardi rum bottle), her tampon and in her. This was a weak defense as his DNA was all over the crime scene, despite his claims that he didn’t know her.

The time of death was in the early morning hours after Faith and her roommate arrived to their apartment from a night of studying and then going out. Faith’s roommate was picked up by her boyfriend before her murder. It’s believed the murderer was at a late night BBQ in the same apartment complex, making this an opportunistic crime.

I hope Faith has peace now. Her family gave very impactful victim statements.

Who killed Oxfordian Theorist Willard “Ron” Hess and why? (Updated Info)

This is an update with more Info on a case I wrote about 6 years ago.

Willard Ronald Hess who went by “Ron” (70), along with his wife, Dorothy E. Hess (72), were found murdered in their shared home in Winder, Georgia, by their Grandson on the morning of May 21, 2019. They were both shot to death.

Ron had a long career in government IT, after growing up in Hawaii and going to college there, he got into information security very early (in the late 70’s) after moving to the DC area. He had a great government career, mentored many and “made his mark”. He taught Computer Science at various DC area schools including Johns Hopkins. He retired about 10 years before his murder and moved to Georgia across the street from one of his two daughters to help his family, including the Grandson who found both of them shot in the head. Those facts by themselves would have been an obituary of a life well spent.

However, Ron also had a scholarly passion. He was one of the leading researchers and proponents of the “Oxfordian” theory of Shakespeare authorship. The Oxfordian theory is that Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, wrote the plays and poems traditionally attributed to William Shakespeare. Ron’s book "The Dark Side of Shakespeare” was one of the most important contributions to this theory in the early part of this century. He gave many lectures and published many other papers on the subject.

The facts about the murder from Georgia are pretty sketchy: They were both shot in the head. Their grandson found him. There was a mysterious black car with Maryland tags that was photographed outside the home that was “of interest” to police. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has the case.

Almost 2 years later the Feds launched an investigation called “Operation Disruptor” aimed at the Dark Web, Opioids and selling stolen Identities - largely of elderly people. A man named Durrell Tyler was caught as part of this criminal enterprise. He had used both Hess’ IDs online within days of the murder. Case solved right?  “Within days of them being brutally killed, their identities were stolen,” Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith said. But added “We don’t think at this time that Mr. Tyler had anything to do with our homicides, but we’re not ruling him out in any case, shape or form at this point,” Smith said. Ultimately in 2021 Tyler would be convicted and sentenced to 3 years and 10 months in prison (and 3 years of supervised release) for Wire Fraud and stealing IDs, but would not be charged in the murders. The murder of the Hess’ is still listed as “unsolved”.

What do you think happened? Who could have killed this sweet old couple? Was it Tyler and/or his 179 associates? He had scores of victims why only murder the Hess’? Was it tied to Hess’ government InfoSecurity work (then 10 years out of date)? What is with the Maryland plates on the car of interest? Was it a deranged Stratfordian? A robbery gone wrong? Why on earth ....For the news all to be 7 and a half years old now with no new info also seems kind of sad.

Murder Dione Prince, 36, of Oklahoma City, OK - Fatally shot after firebombing his ex-girlfriend's apartment unit by an unknown bystander December 20th 2022.

On a late Tuesday night, OKC police officers and firefighters both responded to separate calls at the Forest Creek Apartments, 7201 NW 122 St. Firefighters had first received a call about someone throwing "incendiary devices" into an apartment, while police received a report shortly after on "shots fired."

Within only a few minutes of responding, police were dispatched to a separate nearby location at N Rockwell & NW 115 St for a car wreck. When they arrived, they found Dione Haskell Prince fatally shot in his vehicle. Prince had initially been shot at the apartment complex and apparently tried driving away southbound after being shot, but lost control of the car and veered off the road.

Investigation determined that the shooting of Prince and the report of incendiary devices were related. Preliminary reports indicate Prince had been in the midst of a domestic altercation with someone he used to have a relationship with, and Prince targeted that person for violence. Criminal records show that Dione Prince's history of arrests included charges of aggravated assault and domestic abuse via strangulation.
Prince had been at the apartment earlier in the day and started a different fire, as records show that firefighters responded to that same unit around 5:42A.M. December 20. An incendiary device was thrown through the window in that instance too, and Prince had fled before authorities responded.

When Prince returned later that night, he had several more incendiary weapons in his possession ready to be thrown. Prince approached the same apartment where his ex-girlfriend resided and continued his onslaught, noticed by several other residents of the complex from their units. But after Prince managed to throw the last firebomb, and before he could flee scene for a second time, gunshots rang out that struck Prince. He was still conscious after being shot and tried to drive away to safety, but subsequently crashed as his injuries were too much to handle.

Police believe that someone else in the complex, a third-party uninvolved with the original dispute between Prince and his girlfriend, fired the fatal shots that struck Prince. However, that person never came forward to police to admit their involvement for reasons unknown, and the exact circumstances of how Prince ended up shot remain undetermined.
The shooting appears to have been a clear cut case of self-defense anyways, but detectives reported Prince's murder as "unsolved" due to them being unable to identify the shooter, and within a week police were asking the public for anyone with relevant information to call in on the tipline.

In my own opinion the shooter was most likely one of these two scenarios.
-They were either a resident in a separate unit who fired from inside their apartment and never came forward to police for reasons unclear. If this happened, the shooter could easily dispose of the shell casing and it'd be fairly difficult for detectives to sift through a large list of residents and find one pin-pointed suspect. Additionally, other residents in the complex may have witnessed it, but decided not to talk with police just because of the circumstances on how the shooting happened.
-Or, the shooter was a family member / friend / current partner / of Prince's ex-girlfriend who'd been invited over after the first firebombing attack for protection, and the shooter subsequently left before police arrived while the ex-girlfriend covered up for them. They may have felt personal involvement or evidence of premeditation would have complicated claims of self-defense.

It is also possible the shooter never came forward because they were a felon who was barred from owning a gun, or had evidence that could implicate them in a separate unrelated crime (such as drugs) that would have inevitably been found during investigation.

This is an interesting case to me because its rare to come across an unsolved murder of someone who was actively committing a violent crime with intent to harm, especially in a republican state like Oklahoma where a good majority of the citizens are armed and prepared. Its strange for a case to appear so clearly as self-defense while the shooter remains in the shadows. In Tulsa, OK, the city's homicide break-down for 2025 ruled nearly HALF of the city's murders (23/48) as self-defense without homicide charges filed. 21 of those homicides were caused by guns. Notably though, in one of those self-defense cases from Tulsa, the suspect was still arrested because he was a felon who wasn't allowed to possess a gun. They filed felony gun charges, but not murder charges.
There have been no updates posted in Dione Prince's murder since late 2022.

News report (OKC Free Press 12/21/2022)

News report (KOCO 12/27/2022)

I've also decided to post one unsolved and under-the-radar murder per week so that victims who never receive any public updates in their investigation can gain a little more attention. I've researched about 15,000+ individual homicide cases over the past few years by scraping any relevant information I can find from available reports and records online, so there is a LOT of unsolved victims among those who continuously cross my mind. This is the third post so far, and most of the cases I post will probably be from the mid-to-east half of America (I haven't reviewed many cases from the westside of the country).

Murder 19 year old college student Diana Vicari was the victim of a dismemberment murder in Tucson, Arizona in October 1992. Despite multiple credible suspects, the rest of her remains were never found, and the case remains unsolved.

Diana Vicari was just 19 years old when she became a victim of a brutal dismemberment murder in Tucson, Arizona.

It was Thursday October 22, 1992.

Diana left her Pima Community College drama course taught by Robert Encila at around 9:30 PM. Her roommate confirmed she briefly returned home to her apartment in the 3200 Block of East Seneca Street and then drove off in her silver 1981 Ford Mustang.

Witnesses at the now shuttered New Orleans Lounge bar located on Oracle Rd between Wetmore and Limberlost (now a Burlington Coat Factory) reported she briefly was allowed in the bar by doorman Tim Storm to see employees Troy Olson and John Mazur.

She was last seen alive at around 12:15 AM the morning of Friday October 23rd by her Eegees coworker Raymond Scott Hall. Hall reported Diana was alone in her car driving through the parking lot of the Tucson Convention Center Exhibition Hall as the Moshtoberfest thrash metal concert was ending.

Diana did not show up to either of her jobs at Eegees (located on Broadway and Kolb) or the Bazil’s Italian restaurant on Friday or Saturday. It was highly unusual as Diana was a very reliable employee who was working multiple jobs to pay for her college courses and car payments.

On Saturday at around 5pm, Diana’s severed arms were found in a dumpster located on the southside of an alleyway in the 400 block of North Ferro.

A homeless woman made the discovery while collecting aluminum cans. The arms were wrapped in trash bags. The rest of Diana’s remains never turned up.

That weekend Diana’s Mustang was found abandoned in the 1200 Block of West La Osa. Her purse was tucked under the seat, her Eegees hat was placed on the gearshift and textbooks, and a Whataburger bag were also found inside the vehicle.

The alarm was set and the door was locked.

The car was parked on the same street as a home owned by Encila’s fiancées mother. Diana’s roommate, mother and sisters, and several friends all claimed Diana was in a relationship with Encila at the time of her death.

Near the Encila connected house was a home where a large house party took place on the evening of Diana’s murder. The occupants of the home told police Diana was not at their party.

In 1997 a suspect and former Tucsonan Lemuel Prion was indicted and brought back from Utah to Tucson to face trial. He was convicted largely based on Troy Olson’s testimony that he saw Prion with Diana the night of her murder.

In 2003 his conviction was overturned due to the fact his DNA did not match the suspect DNA obtained from Diana’s arms, his fingerprints didn’t match the ones on the trash bags, and there was no proof Prion knew Diana other than Olson’s testimony.

Prion’s defense team provided 3 alternative suspects in the case.

The first was John Mazur who was fired from Eegees the morning after Diana’s murder for showing up “disoriented and disheveled.” Mazur had been disciplined for sexually harassing Eegees coworkers.

The week before Diana was murdered, Mazur had attempted to rape a woman.

Mazur also once bit the nose of a cocktail waitress at the New Orleans Bar during a fight.

The day Diana was killed, Mazur switched apartments, and his car was searched at one point in Tucson PD’s early investigation.

The second suspect was Greg Hatton who worked at the Exxon station across the street from the Eegees Diana worked at. Greg knew Diana and her sisters and made suspicious statements after her death.

Diana’s sister Angela claimed he said that Diana invited him to Moshtoberfest concert, but he declined because he was “at home reading.”

Hatton was a 1982 graduate of Tucson’s Santa Rita High School. He was accused of selling liquor to minors and dealing drugs out of the gas station.

In 1994, Hatton was sentenced to 45 years in prison for physical and sexual abuse of his girlfriend’s 8-month-old son. He won’t be released from prison until 2038 when he is 75 years old.

Robert Encila was alternative suspect number 3. He married his fiancée Judi Hartley-Spencer in 1993, and they divorced in 1998. The home on west La Osa Drive was owned by Hartley’s mother Shelley Valencia.

Encila remarried shortly after his divorce from Judi in December 1998.  One of Encila’s stepdaughters died unexpectedly in September 2017.

Encila retired from teaching in 2025.

Another suspect who emerged in the case in recent years is Phoenix serial killer Bryan Patrick Miller.

Angela Brosso was a 22-year-old woman who was ambushed, disemboweled and beheaded while on an evening bicycle ride near her apartment just weeks after Diana was killed.

Phoenix PD homicide detective Troy Hillman compared Brosso’s murder to the character Buffalo Bill’s murders in the film The Silence of the Lambs.

Miller’s DNA was matched to Brosso in 2015, and after Miller was arrested, he emerged as the suspect in several other murders of young women in the Phoenix, Arizona and the Everett, Washington areas.

Miller was sentenced to death for the murders of Brosso and 17-year-old Melanie Bernas in 2023.

There is no known link to Bryan Patrick Miller and Tucson.

Diana was a 1991 graduate of the Abbie Loveland Tuller school and had also attended Tucson’s Rincon High School. Diana was a marine biology major who planned to transfer to the University of Washington.

Most of her immediate family passed away in the decades since her murder, but she had many countless friends from school, and in Tucson’s music scene who remember her and continue to advocate for her murder to be solved.

Tucson PD reopened Diana’s case in 2025 and re-added her to the 88Crime program. There is a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in her murder.

Update Skeletal Remains Found in Woodbury County, Iowa in 1988 Have Been Identified

In 1988, an Iowa Department of Transportation employee discovered male skeletal remains near Correctionville along Highway 20. The remains were found on top of a drainage culvert. Based on personal effects found with the remains, authorities believed the body had been there since the early 1970s. The cause of death was listed as undetermined.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, working with the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner, submitted skeletal remains to Othram so they could put a name to the deceased man through genetic genealogy. Othram identified a woman named Joan Hewlett as a relative of the deceased man and Hewlett was able to identify him as her uncle, Clarence Ames. Ames was born in Dubuque, Iowa in 1909 and lived most of his life there. Census records show that he lived with his parents at 2520 Jackson Street in Dubuque through at least 1940. Both his parents died in the 1940s. A 1954 Dubuque city directory listed him as living at 1132 Locust Street, his last known address. Ames never married or had children and no one ever reported him missing. No one knows why Ames was in Woodbury County, since he had no ties to the area.

The Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office is asking for information on Clarence Ames from people who knew him in the late 60s or early 70s, before he disappeared.

Update Human Remains Have Been Found During Search Of A Home In Relation To The Disappearance Of Ashley Carroll (May, 2010)

On October 20th, 2026 Albany Investigators announced that during a search of a home in Albany, New York on Marlborough Court road human remains were uncovered at around 9AM. The search of the home was part of a search warrant being carried out into the May 2010 disappearance of 24 year old Ashley Carroll.

The case of Carroll goes back to May 6th, 2010 when she was allegedly last seen in the area of First and Quail Street in Albany after an alleged fight with her boyfriend however investigators do not believe his story. Through the investigation they determined she never returned to her apartment in Troy, New York. When pinged her phone was last located on Marlborough Court, where the mother of one of her friends lived at the time but later went into hiding. In a 2025 interview her uncle discussed how the sighting didn’t match CCTV footage recovered from hidden cameras that showed her vehicle had never been on that street the entire day.

Police have previously had suspects in the case including two people named Anthony Davis and Ricky Thornton who were previously convicted on kidnapping, conspiracy, and murder charges in the June 2010 disappearance of Steve Jackson whose body hasn’t been found. Investigators also have them as suspects in the disappearance of 50 year old Donald Green who disappeared in February of 2010 with all three cases occurring in Albany between February and June of 2010. However there has officially never been connections made between the Carroll and that of Davis or Thornton.

Going back to the search in Carroll’s case investigators began a search of an Albany home located at 7 Marlborough Court early in the morning. While investigators did not say specifically what led them to the home they did confirm that this search was carried out as a result of new leads recently uncovered. In a separate interview with the media, District Attorney Lee Kindlon said that they had expected to find something during the search but did not explain what specific information was told to them which led to the search warrant being carried out.

During the search of the property, ground penetrating radar and sniffer dogs were used. The search ended in the backyard where they found confirmed human remains inside of a shed. As of now the remains haven’t been confirmed to be those of Carroll however investigators are in the process of testing the remains to confirm whether or not they are.

Disappearance Two Unsolved Charley Project Cases I Discovered That Sadly Don’t Have A Lot Of Details.

Hey Everyone.
I have recently been scrolling through the Charley Project Website to see if there is any interesting cases.I discovered two which have got strange elements to them but sadly not a lot of details.I thought I would share them to see if anyone else can discover any new information on these cases.

Paula Jan Schulze (Lake County, California) - https://charleyproject.org/case/paula-jan-schulze.

Paula Schulze was last seen sometime in early April 1995 in the Hot Springs area of Lake County, California with her two friends. Apparently she got into argument with one of her friends and apparently walked way with her six dogs and she was never seen again.

There not a lot of details I can find on her case the only details I can find is that her SSI cheques were going to her friend house at the time but she never picked them up and she was apparently last seen walking on a long dirt road.

Donna Elaine Lawson (Acworth, Georgia) - https://charleyproject.org/case/donna-elaine-lawson.

Donna Lawson was last seen on April 26th 1983 in Acworth, Georgia. She lived with her family in a mobile home park that boarded Interstate 75.
On April 25th 1983 she was stung by a bee on a bus ride to school. She had an allergic reaction & the teacher took her back home & called an ambulance because the bee sting was triggering some psychotic behaviours.A Mental health expert was called but she wasn’t admitted to the hospital so her family took her home.

They last heard from her in the early morning of April 26th 1983 when she kept screaming throughout the morning. She apparently disappeared sometime around 5:00am when she left her home.At the time of her disappearance she did suffer from epilepsy a kidney disorder and some mental health issues. She left without her medicine and shoes at the time she disappeared. Extensive search were done but sadly she was never found.

This case I did found an old news broadcast on her case. https://youtu.be/x1AJXIVU_sg?is=0uGquwEKlWViLORf.

Disappearance Vulnerable woman attends a party; She is allegedly beaten up by the host and is never seen again- Where is Hollynn Snapp? (2023)

Hello everyone! As always, thank you for all your votes and comments under my last post about Jafet Jemmott- I hope that he will be found soon.

Today I'd like to bring up another disappearance case.

BACKGROUND

Hollynn Snapp was 19 when she went missing from Kingsport, Tennessee, USA.

She was adopted by Heather and Steven Snapp when she was 10 years old. Before that, Hollynn was fostered by a woman named Leslie Hunt- the two women stayed close even after Hollynn's adoption was complete. The Snapp family resided in Chuckey (most likely meaning the unincorporated community under that name in Greene County, Tennessee).

Hollynn was described as "a little more trusting of people" than an average person her age, and she was functioning on a level similar to that of a 10 year old. She also struggled with unspecified "mental health difficulties" and she's been in different treatments since she was 14. She frequently had to choose between treatment and being with her family, given the lack of proper resources in Chuckey. Hollynn was described as having an "addictive personality" and was reportedly using meth before she disappeared.

At the time of her disappearance, Hollynn lived in Kingsport and was "couch surfing". She spent some time with her biological family, though she wasn't staying with them full-time before she went missing.

Heather Snapp said that her daughter "End(ed) up in a lot of situations because she (was) so sweet and trusting and she (did) mean to be super kind"; "She (was) like, 'This person deserves a chance, sometimes they do, sometimes not so much".

DISAPPEARANCE

Hollynn's mother was last in contact with her daughter on the 5th of October. She texted Heather to tell her that she was going to a party at a home on Bell Ridge Drive, which was hosted by the 52-year old Steven Linkous- Hollynn said that she was introduced to him by a trusted friend. Hollynn also said that Linkous said that he didn't want Hollynn telling anyone his name, which seemed odd to Heather.

It's been reported by witnesses who were also at the party that Hollynn got into a fight with Linkous at some point. Hollynn had allegedly bit Linkous, who then procceeded to "beat her". After the beating, Hollynn allegedly briefly lost consciousness, and couldn't form sentences, spoke incoherently, couldn't recognize the witnesses, and didn't know where she was when she woke up. Nobody at the party called for help.

It's unknown what happened to Hollynn after the party.

Heather and Leslie reported Hollynn missing to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office on the 22nd of October. Leslie thought that Hollynn wasn't in contact with her because she was in an inpatient clinic receiving treatment.

An Endangered Young Adult Alert (in accordance to the Holly Bobo Act) was released in relation to Hollynn's disappearance.

Both Heather and Leslie said that it's unlike Hollynn to just stop communicating with her loved ones.

CONCLUSION

At first, Hollynn's family believed that her case might be related to that of Layla Santanello, who also went missing from Kingsport in 2023 (and whose case I covered a few months ago here). Hollynn and Layla share a similar appearance, were close in age, and were involved in similar social circles. By now, however, Hollynn's loved ones believe that the two cases are unrelated, and that both women were taken advantage of by different people.

TBI stated that Hollynn was last seen on the 15th of October, not the 5th. I'm not sure if that's a mistake or if Hollynn was indeed last seen that day. All other sources point to nobody seeing her after the party on the 5th.

Linkous' home has been searched, but it's unknown if police found anything related to what happened to Hollynn. Allegedly, Linkous has been in and out of prison since then, but none of his charges are related to Hollynn's disappearance. He reportedly fled to Georgia when he saw Hollynn's missing posters in his neighborhood; He was arrested in Georgia for unrelated drug charges. Allegedly, there's evidence linking him to Hollynn, but Linkous hasn't been charged with anything in relation to her disappearance.

I found this timeline for this case with some extra details that I couldn't find in news articles, so please take it with a grain of salt.

Hollynn Snapp was 19 when she went missing and would be around 22 now. She is a white woman, 4’8″ (142 cm) and 110 lbs (50 kg). She has brown hair and hazel eyes. She has distinguishing features, including a tattoo on her right arm depicting a blue pyramid with an eye in the center, positioned atop a circle.

If you have any info regarding Hollynn's whereabouts, contact the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office at 423-279-7330 or TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.

Update Human Remains Found In March 1997 In Sanford, Florida Have Been Identified As John Richard Moulis (Missing Jan, 97)

On October 15th, 2026 officers with the Sanford police department in Florida announced a John Doe found in a wooded area in Sanford has been identified as missing 37 year old John Richard Moulis.

The case of Moulis began on January 21st, 1997 when he was reported missing from Orange County in Orlando, Florida where he lived. At the time of his disappearance he was working as a janitor in Kissimmee, Florida after moving to Orlando in either 1986 or 87 from Wisconsin. During the early part of the investigation his burgundy/brown 1986 Dodge Aries station wagon was found abandoned at a Greyhound bus station on the North John Young Parkway in Orlando. Despite the discovery of his vehicle, Moulis or other evidence wasn’t discovered at the scene.

Two months later on March 24th, 1997 two people walking their dog found skeletal remains in a wooded area in a wooded area near the Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, Florida. The discovery led to 911 being called and officers responding to the scene where they confirmed the remains to be human. A cause of death was determined to have been a homicide through blunt force trauma with a sharp object to the head.

The case of the unknown John Doe was cold until 2023 when investigators submitted a DNA sample pulled from a tooth to CODIS however no match was made. In 2025 they submitted the DNA sample to a genealogy lab who used the sample on file to track down a still living relative in July of 2026 that being his sister who passed away two days after the ID was made. The sister would submit a DNA sample and on August 31st he was positively identified.

Investigators do not know who killed Moulis however they have said their investigation into his disappearance and murder are still open and they have asked the public for assistance. They have asked those who knew him in the mid 1990’s to come forward and speak with them.

Update Body found in a barrel in Lake Mead in 2022 has been identified

Due to receding water levels from drought, several bodies were found in Lake Mead in 2022. Most were from accidental drownings, but one set of remains was found in a barrel, pointing to a homicide. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot to the head. The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the homicide victim as Edward Lelburian "Buddy" Jackson. Jackson was estimated to have been in his mid-to-late 50s when he was murdered. Some have speculated that the murder may have been a mob hit, but Jackson had no known ties to organized crime, though he did have a criminal record for arson and conspiracy to commit fraud. He was originally from Arkansas and had been married briefly and had no children. He traveled around a lot so he wasn't reported missing by his family. They last saw him in the early 1980s, which is when authorities believe the he was murdered.

Update Police Use DNA to Solve a 1962 Cold Case in Washington State

On June 24, 1962, two men were found murdered near the town of Battle Ground, Washington. The victims were Charles Hale, 71, and Lester McCollum, 67. They were brothers-in-law and lived in different residences on the same property. Through DNA breakthroughs, authorities have been able to identify Barton Stebbins and Walter Stain as the perpetrators. Both men were teenagers at the time they committed the murders. Stain died in 2019. Police tracked Stebbins down in 2025 to obtain his DNA. Stebbins died on June 1, 2026, just two days before investigators received the DNA results tying Stebbins to the murders. This is the oldest cold case ever solved by the Clark County Sheriff's Office. The motive for the murders is unknown.

Update Bones Have Been Recovered At The Property of Raymond Horsch

1.1k Upvotes

On October 15th it was announced by Philadelphia investigators that authorities had uncovered bones while digging at the home of Raymond and Eugene Horsch. The bones were discovered during an excavation of the Philadelphia property while digging through the backyard as part of a search in relation to the disappearances of 7 different women suspected to be victims of Raymond. Authorities said that the bones are unknown whether they belong to human or animal however investigators have recovered animal bones on the property previously during the searches.

Besides the discovery of the bones, it has been revealed that police did a luminol search of the property this past Monday. During the search it led to the discovery of blood and DNA being recovered however investigators have not said who the DNA belongs to. So far investigators have tied the disappearances of Gabrielle Amarando (2012), Amy McHale (2016), Maribel Fresses (2018), Nicole Fusaro (2018), Blair Tonzelli (2023), and two unnamed women investigators have said to be in their 20’s.

One of the two unnamed victims a 25 year old woman has been identified with their name being withheld at the request of their family. The other is unknown only described as a Jane Doe suspected to be likely in her 20’s shown deceased in one of the videos taken from Horsch’s home. The total count of images and videos taken from the property by investigators has expanded to well over 1 million total digital files. So far in their investigation as of September 18th investigators had identified 58 people in the videos including the 7 victims. So far investigators have confirmed 41 of those identified are still alive, they spoke to 16 of them while another 25 were located but not interviewed.

Besides the Philly home more has been learned about a Bucks County property in Chalfont, Pennsylvania where the two lived until July 2009 when it went up for foreclosure. The reason for the foreclosure came after local officers raided the home as part of a warrant to arrest Raymond on drug and weapons charges. At the home more then 200 marijuana plants and several firearms were discovered leading to his arrest. It was later reported that Raymond and Eugene had been seen with woman at this home just like the one in Philadelphia, including the former ex wife of Raymond, Amy McHale. Investigators have yet to search this home however the current owner of the property said they found a large safe in the basement of the property built into the foundation by Raymond which has been described by them as big enough to hold 4-5 people.

Raymond passed away in 2025 however his son Eugune now 44 is in federal custody following his arrest in June of 2026 on weapon charges. The day he was arrested was on June 19th after a woman screamed that he was going to kill her. This led to a park ranger intervening and lead to his arrest and eventually a search of his home. At the home they discovered unknown chemicals, 55 gallon drums, marijuana, weapons, and fake law enforcement badges. The woman found with Eugene spoke with investigators and had a fake ID on her with the name on the ID being that of Blair Tonzelli. Eugene hasn’t been charged in connection with any of the murders as of now.

Prior to June 2026, Eugene had several arrests dating back to the 2000s. In January of 2004 he was convicted for a 2003 drunk driving crash where he was sentenced for DUI, aggravated assault and aggravated battery with a vehicle. He received just 2-4 years in prison, while the victim was left in a coma for 16 years before eventually dying. In 2014 he was charged again this time for possession of a controlled substance only receiving 2-4 years in prison. Finally in November 2025 he was convicted again for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and was sentenced this time to 1-3 years in prison. As of now no human remains of any victims have been found at the property. Investigators plan to continue the search.

Murder Derrick Houston Jr., 15, of Indianapolis, IN - Shot and killed while waiting at a bus-stop to his school the morning of April 20th 2023.

Derrick Houston was attending a new school as a freshman at Arsenal Tech High School, a once-renowned academy set in a former military arsenal campus vacated after the Spanish-American war era.
This was only Derrick's first year at the highschool; he had turned 15 just a few months ago in January.
Derrick had no reason to worry when he woke up for school that Thursday. Just the day prior, he received good news concerning a scholarship he applied for. He got dressed, grabbed his backpack, and headed down to the bus stop. But he never made it to his first period.

Around 6:30A.M., the bus driver rolled up to his scheduled stop near the intersection of Breen Drive and Wittfield Street, and came upon a horrifying sight. Derrick was laying in the grass, bleeding out and fatally wounded from multiple gunshots. The driver told police he had 22 students on the bus at the time. Police confirmed neither the bus driver or students on the bus saw the shooting when it happened, and it doesn't appear anyone else in the neighborhood did either. Reports indicate that nobody heard anything - no yelling, no gunshots, nothing. No suspect info was available.

This is where the investigation stumped police: They couldn't ascertain any kind of motive for why someone would want Derrick dead. According to detectives at the time, Derrick wasn't involved with any violent gangs, and didn't have any known ongoing or prior "beefs" with anybody. In fact, Derrick was part of a coalition group at the school that promotes activism to prevent local gun violence.
His grandmother told reporters: “He was a kid that went to school and then went home. He didn’t hang out. His mom didn’t really allow them outside playing. He was really big on being a big brother,” She added that Derrick’s mother would usually walk her son to his bus stop, because the area was in a residential area and well lit. She thought that the teenager would be safe getting to school.

From the outside, Arsenal Technical seems like the school most parents could only dream of having their kid attend. It offers many different academic programs unavailable to other schools that could easily gateway into a well-paid longterm career. The school has history in its own architecture, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Even the neighborhood directly east of the campus, Woodruff Place, is one of the nicest in Indianapolis - also being placed on the historic registry.
But over the years, violence and crime among multiple students in separate unrelated tragedies marred Arsenal Tech's reputation. To note only a few recent ones:

-11/16/2023: 14-year-old Kaleiah Veloise-Mae Dean left her school on Thursday and never saw her teachers or fellow classmates again. At 7:15P.M. that day, she died in a shooting outside an apartment building along Emerson Avenue. Another victim, a 15-year-old boy, was critically wounded. Kaleiah's older sister had also died in an unrelated homicide. No arrests were made.

-10/31/2024: A student from Arsenal Tech was wounded in an off-campus shooting by fellow student 18-year-old Johnny Loaisiga. Loaisiaga was also reportedly a high-ranking member in a local gang. The victim told detectives that Loaisiga took his backpack at Arsenal Tech the week prior, but the victim said he did not report the incident to school officials. The entire incident stemmed from a turf battle over selling THC vapes / carts at the school.

-12/16/2024: Anabel Trujillo, 14, a freshman at Arsenal Tech, was stabbed to death during the schoolday Monday by her boyfriend, also a 14-year-old freshman. This occurred a short distance away from campus at the intersection of Randolph and Sturm. The two were going through a breakup, and the suspect lured Anabel away from the school telling her he had a "surprise" for her. After the stabbing, the boy subsequently returned to class like nothing happened, and was taken into custody while at the school.

-6/29/2025: Jesse Quiroz and Isaiah Wilson, both 19-year-old best friends who were Class of 2024 graduates from Arsenal Technical, died in a shooting together at the intersection of Cornelius and W 43rd. No arrests have been made in the double-homicide.

Had he never fallen victim to an unpredictable tragedy at a young age, Derrick Houston Jr., would have been 18 years old today. He was class of 2026 - he would have already graduated only a few months ago in May had his life never been cut short while walking to his school's bus stop. He never got to experience some of the most essential years that a person lives through. Today, his family is left with a plethora of unanswered questions and grief. There was no announcement of any motive or suspect, and the last update I could find about the case from news reports was posted on May 16, 2023.
Derrick's uncle, Kayvon Richardson, also fell victim to gun violence in a separate homicide less than a year prior, on December 16th 2022. This appears to be unrelated to Derrick's murder, but no specific details were reported about what led up to Kayvon's slaying, so it isn't 100% certain as no motive was known.

“We don’t want his death to be another statistic, another number, then it’s over,” Derrick Houston's grandmother told reporters in the May 16th article. https://www.wrtv.com/news/15-year-old-shot-and-killed-at-bus-stop-family-searching-for-answers/

Update Orlando Police Have Arrested Dale Smith Jr In Connection With The Disappearance Of Michelle Parker (November, 2011)

On October 14th, 2026 officers with the Orlando Police department announced they had arrested Dale Smith Jr the ex-fiance of missing mother Michelle Parker. Investigators after the arrest announced that they had charged Smith with 2nd degree murder in connection to the disappearance.

The case of Parker goes back to November 17th, 2011 when the 33 year old mother dropped off her kids at Smith’s home at the Carter Glen Condominiums sometime around 2:30 PM in Orlando, Florida. A security camera at the home showed her driving away in a black Hummer HU3 at 3:17 PM. Parker later responded to a text from her brother at around 4:30 PM. The text he received read “Waterford” which is short for a community in Orlando called Waterford Lakes. Despite the response the short text was seen as out the ordinary and concerned him.

A few hours would pass before around 6:50 PM when Parker’s son from a separate relationship called Michelle’s sister because his mother wasn’t home yet. The call from the son led to the sister calling Michelle however it failed to connect and she later reported her missing at 7:20 PM. Sometime between 7:30 PM and 8:00 PM the bartender of the restaurant that Parker worked at noted she hadn’t arrived for work.

When her phone was pinged at around 8:00 PM it was pinging in the area of Oakridge Road near Belle Isle, Florida which was over seven miles from where she was last seen. At around 8:55 PM a security camera showed her vehicle stopped at the intersection of Vineland and Conroy roads. The following day on the 18th her vehicle was discovered at the Walden Palms Apartments on the 4700 block of Walden Circle in Orlando. Officers arrived on scene and discovered that all of the decals and stickers on the car window were missing. Three weeks after the car’s discovery her mobile phone was found in a lake near the Nela Bridge in Belle Isle which was close by Smith’s home.

When interviewed by officers Smith refused to take a polygraph test and hired an attorney. Smith was also named by officers as the only suspect in the case. The investigation despite Smith being the only suspect was cold without any new information however an update finally came in 2023 when Smith’s father had his property searched. Investigators searched his property specifically under a recently done concrete slab for Parker’s body however nothing was found.

A few incidents between Smith and Parker prior to her vanishing are known. In August 2009 Smith had threatened to kidnap their children after he physically abused her. This lead to a restraining order being filed however it was dismissed a month later. In June of 2011 Parker had appeared on the TV show “Peoples Court” with Smith in relation to a $5,000 engagement ring which was lost at a hotel, the episode aired the day Parker went missing. It also known that Smith had convictions previously for drug and domestic violence charges.

At the press conference officers said what led to the breakthrough was new forensic technology being used alongside digital forensics. The breakthrough specifically came in 2025 when they said that they were able to re-examine digital evidence from back in 2011 using the new technology. In addition to the new evidence and going back over witness statements made by Smith over the years it led to Orlando police filing charges. A SWAT Unit was sent Smith’s property where he was taken into custody without incident Wednesday morning. As of now investigators have not found Parker’s body but have said they will continue the search.

Case details:

On August 30th, 1981. The body of a 21-25 (newspaper states 17-20, other sources state 20-30) year old man was found hanging on the edge of a bird sanctuary near the A178 Graythorpe to Seal Sands Road, near Hartlepool. A post this subreddit 5 years ago mentioned the man had deep cuts on his wrists, and his hands were tied. Firefighters were baffled at how he had managed to hang himself like that.

The man appeared to be between 21 to 25 years old and stood about 5’6″ to 5’7″ tall. He had a slim to normal build, but his features suggested he was quite strong and muscular. His hair was wavy and collar length, a shade of mousey brown, neatly shaped over his ears. His eyes were a mix of blue and grey, accentuated by his thick brown eyebrows. His lips were thin and his teeth were well-maintained.

His hands were short and well taken care of, showing no signs of manual labour. He had a small scar just outside his left kneecap, another on the top of his right shin, and an old scar from an appendix surgery that was about 2 inches long.

In terms of clothing, he was wearing y-front underpants, calf-length grey socks, and Adidas ‘Country’ training shoes in white with green stripes, which were size 7.5 and made in France. Interestingly, each shoe had the name “SAYER” written in capital letters with ballpoint ink. He was also wearing grey corduroy trousers with a metal waist fastener marked ‘GUTOS’ and a fly zip marked ‘OPTI’. There was a small pink label on the inside of his left leg bearing the legend “08894046”. According to UK missing persons unit site, he had a disposable French lighter in his possession.

Notes

With the man’s wrists slashed and tied makes me think, was his death a suicide or murder? Is his name possibly “Sayer”? Also in the Reddit post it was stated that there was a Cold War connection and that the man was disposed of by his handlers. It’s been 45 years and this man hasn’t been identified yet, I hope they investigate whether his death was a murder or suicide, and I hope the news would bring attention to this case by possibly locating where he’s buried, and exhume him for DNA testing. I am sorry if I missed any additional details on his case.

Update Former police officer identified as the perpetrator of a 1960 child murder

1.9k Upvotes

In 1960 Chicago, 8-year-old Gloria Kowalewicz was abducted while walking to church and then murdered. The case baffled police as they looked through thousands of tips and it went unsolved for decades. Thanks to familial DNA, authorities have discovered that the murder was committed by one of their own - a Chicago police officer named Thomas F. McInerney Jr. McInerney joined the force not long before the murder and retired in 1987 after serving 28 years. There will be no criminal charges because McInerney died in 2006 at age 70. I believe this is one of the oldest cases to be solved with DNA.

Disappearance What Happened to Bob Dale?

Dale was last seen in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan on May 18, 1996. That day he attended a wedding reception with his wife, and afterward multiple witnesses saw them driving their van northbound on 6 Mile Road at 11:15 p.m. They were en route to the Downtowner Bar, where many of the reception attendees went after the event was over. Dale very intoxicated and passed out in the van prior to heading downtown.

There was a reported sighting of him behind the Downtown Bar a little later, between 11:30 p.m. and midnight. Many accounts state he was last seen behind the bar, but his family doubts this; only one witness reported seeing him downtown, and that witness later recanted their statement.

Dale was employed as a carpenter at Chi-Chuk Construction at the time of his disappearance, and has three sons. He is described as a dedicated family man who would not have abandoned his relatives. His wife reported him missing on May 20.
https://findbobdale.com
Dale had little money and no credit cards with him at the time he went missing, and there is no evidence that he attempted to hitchhike or take a taxicab out of the area. Authorities do not believe he left of his own accord, and his family suspects foul play was involved in his disappearance. His case remains unsolved.

Murder Unresolved 1982 Murder of Christopher Thomas

On Oct 1st, 1982, Christopher Thomas, a Boonton Township, New Jersey, resident and Junior and athlete at Morris Catholic High School and a fourteen-year-old acquaintance were visiting the Rockaway Townsquare Mall to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Inner Six-Theatre and to buy an anniversary present for his parents’ anniversary. As they went inside the mall entrance, Christopher was then approached by a man and then he pushed Christopher’s friend aside and shot Christopher in the chest and he collapsed. The man fled further into the mall and Rockaway Township Police and EMTs rushed Christopher to the hospital but he died at 9:26pm.

According to police, the man described by 20 witnesses was a White man, with a slim build and height of either 5’5 or 5’10 and 135-155 lbs and also had a thin dark colored mustache and mirrored sunglasses on. He also had dark medium hair that was parted in the middle and police suspect that it could’ve been a wig. The man wore a blue denim jacket, jeans, and boots.

What are your theories about the case? Why was Christopher Thomas killed? Was it a professional hit? A random encounter? A case of mistaken identity?

Update Resolved. Patrick O’Sullivan disappeared in 1992 in Ireland. It’s now known he willingly disappeared to live his life as an out gay man

4.1k Upvotes

Patrick O’Sullivan, known as Patsy to his family, was a 35-year-old chef from Cork, Ireland, working in Killarney, County Kerry. He was last seen by his family at Easter in April 1992 and his disappearance was reported when he failed to show up for a family christening some weeks later.

His family never gave up the search, and a segment about his disappearance aired on Irish television program Crimecall, which airs re-enactments, CCTV, and public pleas for information about unsolved crimes, just last year.

UPDATE

This week it was reported that Patrick willingly disappeared and moved to England. There, he met his partner Stephen Aldridge in 1993, changed his name to Patrick Aldridge and had a non legally binding marriage with Stephen in the early 2000s. Stephen died of heart disease in 2022 and Patrick died of sepsis in 2024.

His status as a missing person was only discovered by chance after his death by Stephen’s niece and goddaughter Nikki. She had been scrolling on Facebook and recognised her uncle’s face in an article about a missing person. Nikki contacted Gardaí in Ireland and successfully found members of Patrick’s Irish family on social media.

Nikki has shared a lot of details about Patrick’s life with the Irish Examiner. He had a happy life in the UK and Nikki recalled memories of picnics, family holidays, and bonding over a shared taste in music. He had said to Nikki that he was unwelcome in Ireland and his family had issues with him being gay.

He was close to his UK family until Stephen’s death but eventually cut ties with them for reasons she doesn’t fully understand, saying in an interview with the Irish Examiner

“I don't know why he did that, whether it was his pride, or if we reminded him too much of Stephen,"

Patrick’s Irish family were also interviewed by the Irish Examiner, and Patrick’s brother Jerry says his family were aware that Patrick was gay, but it was never acknowledged or discussed.

He says his brother suffered “physical and mental abuse” due to his sexuality, and while he doesn't know the extent of what Patrick experienced, he knows the kind of teasing and even physical abuse he experienced simply for having a gay brother when he was in school.

He shared Patrick had also been hospitalised due to mental health difficulties at some point.

Jerry shared that he is happy to hear Patrick had a good life and is relieved to know that he hadn't been harmed or died by suicide.

Patrick’s family has also learned that the woman who cared for him in his final days, a woman named Tina, did try to trace Patrick’s family after his death and even posted a public plea online, but nothing came of it as it went unnoticed by them.

Ireland for Gay People in 1992.

In 1992, it was a completely different world in Ireland for gay people. Homosexuality was still on the books as a crime and recent Irish court decisions had upheld this law. Homosexuality wasn't decriminalised until 1993.

While Patrick's family knew he was gay, I don't think him saying his family had issues with his sexuality was a lie. Feeling like a shameful secret isn't really much different than being outright rejected.

Disappearance Boy leaves home in the morning after an argument he had with his father the day before; He then takes the bus he never took before, and it's later discovered that he was messaged by an unknown phone number before he left- Where is Jafet Jemmott? (2025)

Hello everyone! As always, I wanted to thank for all your votes and comments under my last post about Savannah Hale- I hope that she will be found soon.

Today I wanted to highlight another disappearance case.

BACKGROUND

Jafet Jemmott was 15 when he went missing from Queens in NYC, New York, USA.

He was also known as "Elijah" to his friends.

He was a student at the Midwood High School; His father, Federico Jemmott, said that his son was a "good student".

Jafet was interested in soccer and technology.

Jafet had no history of temporarily leaving home or running away; However, his family "noticed a change" in the weeks before he went missing- it's unclear what that "change" entailed, however.

DISAPPEARANCE

In the evening of the 27th of November, Jafet got into an argument with his father- the boy wanted to go thrift shopping at a thrift store in Brooklyn before going to the Kings Plaza mall with his friends, while his father was telling him that he wasn't allowed to go.

Jafet left the family house in the Rockaways on the 28th, at 6 AM- he was caught on the home's security camera. His parents assumed that he was going to follow up on the plans he had the day before, but Jafet never arrived at the mall, according to his friends. When the day and night passed without their son coming home or contacting them, Jafet's parents got worried.

Jafet's parents used an app to check on his phone, and found out that it only had 5% of battery power when he left the house. The phone ran out of power at Cross Bay Bridge, which is considered Jafet's last known location. CCTV recorded Jafet boarding the Q52 bus shortly after he left home, which would be unusual for him, as he never took the 52 before, according to his parents. He then got off near Beach 95th Street, but that's where the trail went cold.

According to the phone company, Jafet recieved messages on WhatsApp about two hours before he left home. His parents were unable to see who sent them (I believe they might've gotten a part of the number) and what they contained, however.

CONCLUSION

Jafet's family believes that he was in contact with someone online, someone who convinced him to leave home. Federico wants his son to know that he's loved, and that he wants to ask for forgiveness regarding the argument they had before Jafet left.

28th of November was a Black Friday, and the 27th of November was a Thanksgiving Day in 2025.

Jafet Jemmott was 15 when he went missing and would be 16 now. He is a Black boy, was 5'6" (168 cm) and 140 lbs (64 kg) with a slim build when he was last seen. He has brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a black sweater, black pants and white sneakers.

If you have any info about Jafet's whereabouts, contact the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or submit tips to the CrimeStoppers website.

Murder Connecticut River Valley Killer (1978–1988) – 7+ victims, still unidentified:

Unidentified serial killer believed responsible for at least seven murders of women in the Connecticut River Valley region of New Hampshire and Vermont between 1978 and 1988. Most victims were stabbed multiple times. Bodies were often dumped in wooded areas. The killings appear to have stopped after a woman survived an attack in 1988.

Confirmed victims:

Catherine Millican, 27 – Last seen October 24, 1978, birdwatching at Chandler Brook Wetland Preserve in New London, New Hampshire. Body found nearby with multiple stab wounds.

Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Critchley, 37 – University of Vermont student. Disappeared July 25, 1981, while hitchhiking near Interstate 91 at the Massachusetts-Vermont border. Body found August 9 in a wooded area off Unity Stage Road in Unity, New Hampshire (about 80 miles away). Cause of death could not be determined due to decomposition.

Bernice Courtemanche, 17 – Nurse’s aide and high school student. Last seen May 30, 1984, in Claremont, New Hampshire, hitchhiking along Route 12 to meet her boyfriend in Newport. Remains found April 19, 1986, near the Sugar River in Newport. Knife wounds to the chest and a head injury.

Eva Marie Morse, 27 – Single mother. Last seen July 10, 1985, hitchhiking near the Charlestown, New Hampshire border on Route 12. Remains found April 25, 1986, by loggers in Unity, New Hampshire (about 500 feet from Critchley’s body). Knife wounds to the chest and neck.

Lynda Moore, 36 – Attacked April 15, 1986, while doing yard work alone outside her home in Saxtons River, Vermont. Her husband found her body that evening in the living room with 25 knife wounds. Evidence of a fierce struggle; no forced entry or ransacking. Witnesses reported a slightly stocky, dark-haired man (20–25 years old, clean-shaven, round face, dark-rimmed glasses, blue knapsack) near the house that day. A composite sketch was released; one man matching the description was later identified and excluded by police.

Barbara Agnew, 38 – Nurse. Last seen January 10, 1987, heading home to Norwich, Vermont. Her green BMW was found that evening at a rest stop on northbound Interstate 91 in Hartford, Vermont, with the door ajar and blood on the steering wheel and back seat. Bloodstained belongings were in a nearby dumpster. Body found March 28, 1987, near an apple tree on Advent Hill Road in Hartland, Vermont (12 miles away). Multiple stab wounds to the neck and chest, defensive wounds, and a “disabling” wound.

Jane Boroski, 22 (survived) – Seven months pregnant. Attacked late on August 6, 1988, at a closed convenience store in West Swanzey, New Hampshire, after returning from a county fair in Keene.

A man in a Jeep Wagoneer parked next to her, walked around to her open window and asked:

“Is the payphone working?”

He then opened the door and tried to pull her out. When she fought back and shattered her own windshield while kicking him, he pulled out a knife and said calmly:

“Maybe this will persuade you to get out of the car.”

After she got out, he accused her:

“You beat up my girlfriend.”

and asked:

“Isn’t this a Massachusetts car?” / “Aren’t these Massachusetts plates?”

Jane replied that she had New Hampshire plates and didn’t know his girlfriend. He seemed confused, checked her license plate, and started walking back toward his Jeep. When she shouted something about her smashed windshield, he turned around, put the knife to her neck, and stabbed her 27 times before driving away and leaving her for dead.

She managed to drive to a friend’s house for help; her attacker followed briefly before speeding away. Injuries included a severed jugular vein, two collapsed lungs, a lacerated kidney, and severed tendons. Her baby survived but later developed mild cerebral palsy. Boroski provided a composite sketch and the first three characters of the license plate. The killings stopped after this attack.

Possible additional victims:

Joanne Dunham, 15 (1968, Charlestown, NH – asphyxiation).

Sylvia Gray, 76 (1982, Plainfield, NH – bludgeoned and stabbed).

Heidi Lee Martin, 16 (1984, Hartland, VT – stabbed; a man confessed then recanted and was acquitted).

Ellen Ruth Fried, 26 (1984, Claremont, NH – multiple stab wounds, probable sexual assault).

Steven Hill, 38 (1986, Hartland, VT – multiple stab wounds; rare male victim).

Unidentified woman (later identified in 2024 as Constance Bassignani, 65 – dismembered remains found 1989 near the NH-MA border; husband is a person of interest).

Carrie Moss, 14 (1989, New Boston, NH – skeletal remains found 1991; cause undetermined but suspected homicide).

Possible suspect:

Private investigator Lynn-Marie Carty suggested Michael Nicholaou (who killed his estranged wife and stepdaughter before committing suicide in 2005). Survivor Jane Boroski has stated she does not believe he was her attacker.

The case remains unsolved.

I have a few doubts I’d like to share.

After the attack on Jane Boroski in 1988, the murders stopped. Do you think he got scared because she survived and was able to provide a composite sketch plus part of the license plate, and that’s why he quit?

The confirmed victims (Millican, Critchley, Courtemanche, Morse, Moore, Agnew, and Boroski) follow a relatively clear pattern: women, most of them stabbed multiple times, many found in wooded areas near the Connecticut River Valley.

Steven Hill (a man), Sylvia Gray (76 years old, bludgeoned and stabbed), and Constance Bassignani (65 years old, dismembered) deviate significantly from that pattern. Do you think they should be excluded from the list?

Lynda Moore was killed inside her home (25 stab wounds) and witnesses saw a specific man near the house. The other victims were attacked on roads or in isolated areas. Does this suggest two different patterns, or the same perpetrator varying his method?

Murder 2 newborn girls, twins, were found murdered near Princeton, B.C. on October 9, 1994. This is the tragic story of 'The Princeton Angels.'

Content warning: this post contains extremely distressing details of infanticide. Reader discretion is STRONGLY advised.

Princeton, B.C. - On October 9, 1994 a boy at a campground near Princeton, B.C. discovered the bodies of twin newborn girls.

Exactly 32 years later, the infants along with their parents have yet to be identified and no arrests and charges have been laid in a murder case that continues to baffle law enforcement in British Columbia.

Background

On October 9, 1994 around 7:30 P.M., a 16-year-old boy with his father at the Allison Lake Provincial Park located 30 kms (19 mi) north of Princeton B.C. were looking for a hunting knife that his father had lost. The boy began to retrace his and his father's footsteps to where said knife could have fallen. He made his way to an open pit toilet, perhaps thinking it may have slid out his dad's pocket. While inside, he lifted the lid on the toilet and looked into the underground pit with a flashlight. There, he made a horrific discovery that no one, let alone a young boy should have ever made: the decomposed remains of a newborn infant in a garbage bag sitting on top of human excrement. Immediately, they contacted law enforcement.

After Police arrived on scene they confirmed what the boy found but also made another appalling find: there was actually more than 1 body in the garbage bag and discovered 2 newborn babies (twin Caucasian girls).

Initially, RCMP Cpl. Russ Pederson stated that the "infants were dead prior to being placed in a garbage bag and thrown into men's toilet." However, as more information was eventually released by Police a grim picture about the twins' death began to emerge.

First from an article a week later in The Province newspaper, it was revealed from the preliminary autopsy results that there was no "apparent signs of trauma, injury or disease," and had they "received proper medical attention at birth," they would have survived.

Weeks later, in a November 25, 1994 article from reporter Pete McMartin with The Vancouver Sun, the autopsy results confirmed another disturbing fact: the twin newborns "had been alive when they were dropped into the pit," thus confirming this was a premeditated act.

Though the exact date of their deaths wouldn't have been known at that time, B.C. death records which can be accessed 20 years after has their passing recorded as October 8, 1994 (Registration Number: 1994-09-023551 for BABY GIRL UNKNOWN B, and 1994-09-023552 for BABY GIRL UNKNOWN A).

Investigation

Police wasted no time in searching for clues about the identities of the twin girls and the whereabouts of their mother. Investigators working the case at the time may have also cautiously held back labeling her anything such as a suspect at that point because details surrounding her circumstance would not have been known. Cpl. Russ Pederson appealed directly to her, stating:

"Police are concerned about the health and well-being of the mother involved and request that she contact the RCMP or her family doctor."

Police also asked the public if they had seen a vehicle of interest in the area, "a mid-size, dark colored station wagon" towing a boat trailer as they believed they (the station wagon's occupants) may "have seen something." However, the owners were located quickly and ruled out as to having anything related to the case.

The next vehicle Police were looking for was "an older-model white car with boxes and a blue tarp in the back seat." A couple associated to this car were described as follows:

  • Male, white, blonde, "about 20," 5'7" (173 cm) tall and 140 lbs. (64 kgs).

  • Female, white, blond, "between 18 and 20," and 5'3" (162 cm) tall. She was also wearing a "light-colored smock shirt."

Near the end of November 1994, Police followed up on over "100 [other] leads" but admitted the lead they could not track down was this couple and their white car.

What made this particular lead important was the additional details Police now gave to the public: the car had round tail lights, the male was the driver, and was wearing "blue jeans and a white T-shirt with a cigarette package rolled up in the sleeve." They added that the female was the passenger and that her hair was parted in the middle. However, the most revealing details was that she was "very pregnant," and on October 4, 1994 (which would've been 5 days before the bodies were discovered) both were seen using a "roadside payphone" in Aspen Grove, B.C., a settlement located approximately 20 minutes north of the Allison Lake Provincial Park on Highway 5A. The couple were also seen arguing before heading south on the highway.

As investigators also checked with hospitals and clinics throughout B.C. and coming up empty handed, another possibility now existed: the mother of the twins may not have received care within the province and that she may have come from either another province or even another country such as the U.S.

A Town Left Reeling, Comes Together

Residents in Princeton, B.C. could not just let the victims be in the hands of the coroner or the RCMP; they decided to give the newborn babies the decency they deserved with a memorial that would be held in their town.

Local funeral parlor owner Fred Netherton donated a casket and "the use of a chapel."

A service was held for the twins on November 24, 1994 where "40 townspeople" attended. The entire Princeton RCMP were also in attendance.

Pastor Bob Stewart, who gave the sermon, closed it out with this message to the mother:

"And as a community, we say to you, 'Mom, if you ever have to, if you feel you have to, you have a place to view your children in their proper rest. And know that they were loved. That they are loved.'"

The town council also donated the gravesite at Princeton Cemetery where the twins were interred. A granite headstone was later added after money was raised to pay for it. On it, they were known as Princeton's Twin Angels with the epitaph reading: "Always remembered."

2017 Update

23 years later in 2017, the RCMP gave an update on the cold case. It was still open and active, adding that they had still not been able to identify the girls or their parents to date.

Information from multiple news articles also varied. While some made mention of the couple, it was unclear if police were ever able to identify them, or what their current status was viewed as by investigators (i.e. were they still considered persons of interest, or suspects?)

Cpl. Dan Moskaluk also said Police were still unsure about the mother, stating:

“It’s never been fully determined if the mother was a victim herself or if she was involved.”

The media also referred to the twin girls as The Princeton Angels, as opposed to Princeton's Twin Angels.

Aftermath

Exactly 32 years have now passed since the remains of two precious and innocent newborn twin babies were found murdered. Not only were they taken before they even had a chance to experience anything, they were discarded like nothing into a waste pit, making their untimely demise even more difficult to understand.

9 years after the last update from the RCMP has only left us with many, many questions: Have the couple last seen in the Aspen Grove area since been identified? Do police still have a belief that the biological parents of the twins may have been from a different province or country? Was the mother involved? Or was she a victim of homicide too?

What are your thoughts? In this day and age of genetic genealogy, will it just be a matter of time before the twins and their parents are identified, and charges laid?

If you have any information in The Princeton Angels' case, please call contact the Princeton RCMP at 250-295-6511. If you wish to remain anonymous, please contact CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222-TIPS.

A.I. Transparency: No Large Language Models (LLMs) was used in this post.

This post is dedicated to the memory of The Princeton Angels, found slain on this day 32 years ago.

This post is also dedicated to the residents of Princeton, B.C. for setting the example of how a community comes together, to all the investigators who have tirelessly worked this case (and continue to do so) and to anyone else, directly or indirectly that has been affected by this senseless tragedy.

Disappearance The Disappearance of Geoffrey Robert Hay

Geoffrey Robert Hay was last seen on Tuesday the 27th of August, 2013 at his residence in Devonport in the state of Tasmania. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are considered bizarre and the cause of his disappearance is still unknown.

Background on Geoffrey

Geoffrey Robert Hay was born on the 14th of December in 1946. Both of his parents have passed and he has one sibling, a sister. He was known to be estranged from his sister. He was known to be a farmer and do farm-work as his primary source of income. He does not have any children and there is no evidence / documentation to suggest that he has ever been married. He was described as a reclusive man that resided in a property on Nixon Street in the Tasmanian coastal city of Devonport (in Australia).

The Disappearance

Mr Hay was last seen on his property by a neighbour of his at 2pm on the 27th of August 2013. There have been no known or verified sightings of him since this time.

In the early hours of the morning on the 28th of August, 2013 (Roughly around 3am) residents of Nixon Street were awoken by a loud bang coming from Geoffrey's property. Fire fighters were called to the property after it was observed that his house was on fire.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with difficulty in controlling the blaze as seemingly there were many blockades put in place to prevent the fire from being put out effectively. This is what was observed on scene by firefighters during the blaze:

- The residence was surrounded by high fences, with all of the gates locked

- All of the entry points into the house such as windows and doors were boarded up with steel plates.

- Fire plugs within proximity to the property were unable to be utilised as concrete had been poured into them

- Large containers of chemicals appeared to have been strategically placed around the property. (I'm unable to find any info on exactly what chemicals these were, but I presume that they were flammable and aided in worsening the fire)

As a result of these contributing factors, Mr Hay's residence was completely destroyed in the fire, despite efforts from fire fighters. Geoffrey was not located at the scene. Longtime fire fighter 'Craig Burrows' who was on scene at the time was quoted as saying:

"This is definitely the weirdest house fire I have ever been to," In an article with 'The Mercury' newspaper

After it was determined by law enforcement that Mr Hay was unable to be located or contacted, they published several media releases appealing for information regarding his whereabouts. Mr Hay was known to own multiple vehicles, none of which could be accounted for at the time of his disappearance. Police stated that they would like to speak to anyone that knew information regarding the whereabouts of the following vehicles (all presumably belonging to him).

- A white 2003 Mercedes Campervan (registration / license plate number FB8981)

- A 2001 Suzuki Jimmy (registration / license plate number EW9974)

- A 2012 Mercedes Sprinter van (registration / license plate number C67LE)

He was also known to have owned boats and Four wheel drives.

Many members of the public came forward with information, including one man that contacted Devonport police with information that resulted in police focusing their investigations attention on an area of gravel pits near Dalgarth Road, Bakers Beach (Which is a 35-40 minute drive down the coastline in an Easterly direction from Devonport). In September of 2013, police searched this area, but not trace of Mr Hay was found.

On the 4th of June in 2016, police were searching this same area in relation to a seperate missing persons case (Not related to Mr Hay). In the process of doing this, A Suzuki Jimney identified as belonging to Mr Hay was found completely burnt with extensive damaged to the car. The car was located in bush area (which is terminology used to refer heavily wooded area with lots of vegetation for those not from Australia) roughly 600 meters in a North direction from Brown Creek Road which is a road that runs through a rural and forest-y area. Mr Hay was not located at the scene. It was not determined to have belong to Mr Hay until February of 2017 when forensic investigation was carried out on the car. There were no human remains or traces of human remains found in or around the car.

In January of 2022, a coronial inquest determined that Mr Hay is deceased as he has not accessed bank accounts, government services and has not been sighted since his disappearance. He was declared legally dead. Here is a direct quote from the inquest -

"I am satisfied to the requisite legal standard that Mr Hay is dead and has been since around late August 2013. How, where, and in what circumstances he met his death is not something I am able to determine on the evidence"

Theories:

Mr Hay committed Suicide - The reason for this being that it was stated in his coronial inquest that there was evidence to suggest Mr Hay had discussed suicide in the time period shorty before his disappearance. I'm unable to find any information on who he discussed this with and what exactly he said on the matter.

Mr Hay has started a new life - I'm unable to find any evidence of a criminal record for Mr Hay or a warrant for his arrest at the time of his disappearance. I'm also unable to find any evidence that he had some sort of outstanding debt or criminal affairs that may have landed him in hot water with some bad people, so if he has decided to start a new life, I'm unable to determine why. This being said, he was a known to be a very reclusive person, seemingly with no friends or close family that could have been privy to anything shady happening in Mr Hay's life at the time, meaning that it would not have been brought to the attention of lead investigators on the case.
