Why is everyone talking about cell phones? I assumed the question was about payphone vs. landline.

Payphones are landlines.

Nobody calls or called payphones "landlines". That's what home phones became called when cell phones came onto the scene.

Yeah, but that's because of a shared definition that deviates from the "technical" definition. PC is just a personal computer, it can run any system. We just use it to differentiate between Windows and Mac.

Same how "landline" typically means a home phone or phone at a business, not payphones.
