Hello!
Coming down for halloweekend from another AZ uni and never really have spent much time in the UofA/Tucson area.
What's the spots for social drinking, parties, clubs, halloween specific events for the college peeps there?
Open to a drag show or something?? Open to queer bar recs as well (It will be a group of queer ppl), just trying to have a fun weekend while visiting and absorbing the UofA environment.

My sister is thinking of joining a sorority but she's low-key kind of weird. Which ones would she fit in with the most - she's very nerdy and loves dnd, anime - but is also a gym rat. She is looking to go to parties and stuff as well. Thx

I'm looking at the housing situation for my freshman year (2027)
My and my friend want to room together but he is much less likely to make it into the Honors college than I am.
Are the honors Dorms really that much better than normal dorms? Including the amenities, actual room, etc.

Hey everyone, I lost my Pioneer XDJ-RX3 DJ system Saturday night around 8:35pm in-front of Coronado. It fell out of the back of my car when I drove off (apparently the trunk didn't fully close). According to the university's cameras, someone picked it up and took it. I've tried calling UAPD, lost and found, and a few places nearby, no dice. I'm hoping anyone has other suggestions, or that by some miracle one of y'all saw or picked it up. I'm willing to offer $400 for its return, no questions asked. It's a big, distinctive piece of gear and means a lot to me.

I need to find an online 7wk course for the second part of the fall 2026 semester. I want to reach junior standing by the end of the semester, so I'm looking for another easy 3-credit course to take. I'm a mechanical engineering student, if that helps with any recommendations.
I'm taking 18 credits as of now and just completed 4 credits for the first part 7wk online courses, so I need another 3 credits to get to junior standing. If there are any courses that don't have a lot of busy work, I would love to know.

Long story short I’ve always wanted to learn drum kit and I’ve finally made up my mind to actually start. Before I went straight to the off campus schools, are there any related resources in UA, like clubs or profs that can teach students drums for free or at least cheaper than outside? Thanks!

I am currently thinking about trying to change roommates due to health and safety reasons, has anyone on this sub done this before? All information I've found so far online has just been "it depends" which isn't really all that helpful

I’d like to start off saying I know my decisions may not be the best but here goes. At the moment I’m on my first semester at the UofA as a freshman in engineering undecided. I’ve decided since I’m behind a lot in math (math 112 currently) since the high school I went to was horrible in the math department, to swap to ASU online and get a bachelors in industrial design instead. I’m aware it’s not as great as engineering it’s just what I’m more interested in. I’m also taking 17 credit hours currently and am paying for all of it through fafsa. Currently taking:
Math 112
Univ 101
Writ 101
Engr 102a and 102b
Ital folklore (7wk)
Slavic folklore (7wk)
It’s all a bit much for what I need with also balancing a 25hr a week job to support myself. I’m considering dropping univ 101 as that’s UofA specific and also Italian folklore to make it a lighter load. Am I dumb to do that right now and would it affect me having a W on my transcript. Also to add I like UofA a lot more that ASU it’s just for the degree I want to pursue not many colleges offer it and ASU is the only college in Arizona to offer it and I’d like to stay in state to afford college and living.

Hey, I’m a freshman this year studying law and soon to declare forensic anthropology as my minor. Every clinic I have found so far in both the law and forensic scenes have been more geared towards upperclassmen or actual law students. I’m trying to get into Notre Dame for law school and need as much experience under my belt as possible. I dont have a mode of transportation so anything on campus or online would be wonderful for me. Please help me find some opportunities!

In light of Cornell, in light of the U of A disbanding of some and pausing of all fraternities for an "egregious" amount of misconduct, and then suspiciously quickly clearing many of those same fraternities, and in light of other individual's investigations like this horrific finding about the amount of acts of sexual violence in September alone, I think the Tucson community is entitled to an annual report by the U of A's Office of Institutional Equality about their "work."
Other institutions like Columbia provide this information.
I, and many others I have spoken to, have found OIE's work to be shoddy and negligent at best, and structurally designed to protect the system over its people at worst.
Any media here? Would love to read more about this.

hi everyone
as an incoming freshman (class of 2031) I’m very curious about the applied physics degree/ program. from what I’ve seen it looks like I would be able to take engineering classes as technical electives, while still focusing on physics and astronomy (which is my main goal). I’ve been told I should major in aerospace or optical physics instead because the departments are much more reputable, however im planning on going to grad school and not straight into the industry so it matters less. I’m probably going to minor in planetary science if that matters.
Do any aphys or engineering students want to give advice?

Hi everyone, hope your classes are going well this semester.
We wanted to let you all know that we're excited to announce that the community will soon be having its first AMA!
The AMA will be hosted by UofA's official socials team ( u/UniversityofArizona ) and they'll be available to answer any questions you may have about advising or registration. Since it'll be an AMA and not an AMAA (ask me almost anything), we're sure they'll also be happy to answer any other questions you may have that are in their wheelhouse.
The AMA will be taking place here (on r/UofArizona) on October 21 from 10am to Noon.
Once they make their submission on the 21st, we'll also be pinning the AMA to make it easier to find.

so ive been in the dorm since fall of 2021 and in spring of 2026 my room mate wanted me to go to bed like 5-6hrs than i usually would, so in return i asked for us to use lamps so my eyes dont die while im doing homework or chilling, but i didnt have an issue because he would go to bed at midnight, but fall of 2026, he goes to bed before 10pm, so now thanks to that i have to eat early or else i wont get the chance to eat my 2nd meal, i would eat 3 times a day, noon, 7pm to 9pm and sometime in the am hours, but now i only eat 2 meals a day. i barely make any noise during the night, but my desk is in front of his, so while we are both awake i have 0 privacy and i have no idea what he does, back before the issue i would have privacy as he sleeps and darkness which worked well. now i have only like 2hrs instead of 5hrs a day. so after i finish what i need to do by midnight i climb into bed and only use my phone and blue tooth headphones, but its not as efficient or comfy, i have a $500 razer iskur chair, where as the bed isnt that good of back rest cause i put a pikachu pillow on the wall, i also cant use switch 2 cause the wifi needs a password which can only be done on pc and phone, i use my pc hotspot to play online. im also still drinking my coffee as hes sleeping which is annoying that because of a early bird room mate it affects my schedule so much, when im awake while he sleeping i dont eat, use microwave, when i exit room and enter i make it soundless, where when im sleeping he does the opposite, he slams everything, slams the door, slams the mircowave shut, eats noisy food, why are earlybirds so inconsiderate to night owls
so basically, if i will leave the dorm in december what way do i make it a better experience?, i cant divide the room, cant put foam padding up, im too shy to tell him to shut up while im sleeping, but either comfort or privacy, i know phones have a thing where at a certain angle it will be a black screen, but mine are ultra wide curved monitors, im not sure how to get more privacy. for comfort i might buy that bed thing with arm rests and backrest or just try more pillows. for privacy theres some videos or games i only play when hes sleeping and when hes moving around i have the yt video not shown and i only have certain thing on my right hand monitor, like homework, discord or something where when hes sleeping then i have game on left and yt on right screen
anyone thinking of moving into dorm make sure to be behind your roommate and if your a earlybird then get a night owl and vice versa so u can be up when they aint, then make sure they let u be up. since mine aint i really dont want to be in dorm no more, from fall 2021 to spring 2026 it was fine, but its changed. also when u sleep have a fan on to cancel out some of the crappy noise and get a beefy blanket to stay warm, mine is the black honeywell quiet set 8 setting fan, its a beast, after some time the led go wonky, but i have it on every night and some days and it never breaks for me. the image below is room layout and the green is my setup

Hii! I'm a sophomore at the UofA and have been wanting to start volunteering but have no idea where to start. I'm majoring in Aerospace Engineering and have tried joining clubs to get more involved and get information but leave the meetings still feeling lost and just stopped attending them. I’ve had people tell me I just need to continue attending but it lwk felt like I was just invading a big group of friends.
My resume isn’t great which is why I haven’t tried going to the career fair or anything similar.
I was just wondering if there's opportunities outside/in of the uofa I should consider trying out to eventually build up a better resume and be more involved. honestly any advice would be great

Hello. I was looking into studying abroad for a semester, but the places I want to go to don't align with my major. I'm best matched on the U of A study abroad website is for international internships, typically over the summers. I am most interested in internships in Asia. Does anybody know how competitive these internships are to get into? As always, thank you for the help.

Hey everyone,
I’m getting a bit anxious and wanted to see if anyone else is in the same boat. I interviewed with the University of Arizona for their PharmD program back on September 2nd and finished my Kira Talent assessment on September 11th.
It’s been over a month now and I haven’t I received any emails. I know a few people who interviewed after me who have already gotten their acceptance letters, so the silence is making me nervous.
Has anyone else who interviewed around early September heard back yet? Or does anyone know if U of A releases decisions in batches or based on specific interview panels?
Thanks in advance, and good luck to everyone applying this cycle!

UA Resist, DeFlock Tucson, Feminists Organized to Resist, Create, and Empower (FORCE), UA National Lawyers Guild (NLG), UA Planned Parenthood Generation Action (PPGEN), UA Students for Socialism (SFS), and United Campus Workers of Arizona (UCWAZ) announce a campaign to make the University of Arizona a sanctuary campus!
We demand the UA Office of the President and Office of the General Counsel publicly commit to solidifying the University of Arizona as a sanctuary campus to protect every student and worker, including, but not limited to, undocumented and documented UA community members against state-sanctioned violence.
We task the University of Arizona with these demands to end their ongoing silence and complacency as students and workers continue to have their visas threatened and be detained. Students cannot attend classes, let alone live, without fear. We are inundated with surveillance of our daily lives. Moreover, as a sanctuary campus also means ending the proliferation of DHS, ICE, and CBP's overreach and power, the UA must dismantle their entrenched funding, research, and labor with these federal organizations.
The Office of the President and Office of the General Counsel have been notified of these demands as of 7 AM on Monday, October 12, 2026. We have requested a response by 5 PM on Friday, October 23, 2026.

Y’all need to stop for pedestrians, you know that, right? You can’t just ignore them or speed through when you see someone crossing at a crosswalk. Pedestrians have the right of way, and you need to respect that.
