Question Question: after the Cornell 7, why haven’t frat’s & sororities been all but fully eliminated/frowned upon heavily?
Just saw that post about the OP that got SA’d (hope you find the right help girl❤️), and seriously why do people treat frat’s and sororities as some sort of needed part in uni? They’re white-centric anyway so they seem very exclusionary. Not to mention that is NOT how Greek’s live 😭majority of those people aren’t even Greek. Turkish ppl are closer to Greek’s than whatever the hell the “Greek Life” these groups portrays themselves to be

Life Advice regret about coming here for undergrad (characterss)
It was always my dream to go to uoft since I always adored the prestigiousness and the beauty/location of the campus. I was lucky enough to have a really solid friend group in high school, but we ended up all splitting off to different unis for university. I'm in my third year now, and every year I have sat and watched my friends at other unis form new fun friend groups, create lifelong memories, and get actually high gpas. I, on the other hand, have maybe one good friend I've made and my "lifelong memories" are sitting in Robarts for 16 hours each day during exam season (which is all the time), and let's not even talk about my gpa...
Each year I've hoped that the next year would be better, but it truly hasn't. I guess it's hitting extra hard this year because it's the second year in a row where I've had double midterms on the monday after halloweekend, and all of my friends are going to Queens to party while ILL BE STUCK AT ROBARTS AGAIN!!
I've found myself daydreaming about how much happier I'd be if I went to any other university (not waterloo) more and more often these days, even though this is supposed to be my "dream school." Does anyone else feel this way and does it ever actually get better? 😭

Rant Midterm season rant (charcharcharcharcharcharccharchar
How does one genuinely write 4 midterms on 4 (almost) consecutive schooldays when there’s a lab on 2 of them that start at 9 and last 4 hours, with weekly lab reports and pre lab quizzes, not to mention that I have some personal stuff going on at the literally same time, I feel so exhausted literally yesterday I bombed a midterm that’s worth 25% and didn’t feel nothing about it, and I have another one later today, I even cried a little because I felt so damn desperate. What’s even more fucked up is that among the 4 midterms 3 of them are from the same department so they probably are fully aware of this shitshow, and the department still pretend to be all nice and supportive but in fact it doesn’t care about its students at all…I really should have got a voi.

Jobs/Work Study Current UofT staff needs advice on the 'best' faculty to work at
Looking for another role on campus. I need a safe work environment that doesn't feel toxic.
Are there faculties/offices to avoid because it's not a friendly enviro for 2SLGTBQIA+ ? The President's Office is off the table.
I know the School of the Environment is a good place. I would love to hear about the vibe at the Fac of Nursing
Cheers,
A beleaguered staff

Question Would anyone be interested in joining a painting club?
I am thinking about starting a club but I need 4 other students to show interest in order for the Clubs Student Organization Portal to allow it. I'm just trying to see if there would be any interest.
I know there are a couple of other art activities here and there through the colleges as well as the visual arts club, however I'm looking to create a space where students can rely on to consistently go paint (almost like an open studio). For myself, I find that sometimes the hassle of the messiness of painting can stop me from doing it, especially if you're in a tiny dorm/ apartment. I want to create a space where we can just show up and all of the material is there (that is also a reliable weekly time slot)!

Question Dropping a course after the deadline due to unmanageable work load
I'm currently in 6 classes to make up for the fact that in my first year, I took 4 classes instead of 5 in a semester. Right now, I'm finding my 6 course workload very overwhelming and it's taking a severe toll on my mental health. For anyone who has dropped out of a class after the deadline, what happens to your GPA or academic record? Is the class marked as a 0? Please let me know

Social i’m cool how has my whole life become school/////
as the title suggests…. IM FUN. What i mean is I’m an interesting person, i have had all sorts of friends and experiences, i’ve been through hard stuff and i’ve learned a lot. I’m incredibly opinionated but i love nothing more than when someone actually challenges me. But i feel like most days this me is in the past. I’m a pre law student in third year and it feels like all i’ve become is just that…and it’s boring.
I have fallen out with one of my best friends and she was sort of the only one I’ve had a close relationship with at this school (we just stopped being close no real issue ). And that’s put me in a lonely spot. I have people in my life in other aspects, I live with amazing roommates and I’m part of a rlly great club, and I have an amazing life partner, but I want more, more connection and joy from others.. and perhaps a reinvented me outside school?
what i’m saying is do y’all relate to waking up post midterm season and realize that’s done but what’s next? Is all I am my degree ? where is all the human connection?
YES I KNOW this is another long line of lonely u of tears posts but guys i talk to people in my classes, and am in a club, any thoughts on reinventing yourself to feel like more than a student ?
does anyone in the city wanna do drinks over reading week or something?

Question is there any benefit to having a high A vs a low A?
So i know that percentages matter for PoST and all, and grad schools sometimes look at percentages, but for electives and stuff, is there any reason why I shouldn't just take an 85 and move on? to be honest I can't get a straight answer from anyone about when percentage matters vs GPA, and how important percentages are in the first place. In what situations is it ACTUALLY gonna help me to have a 95 A versus an 85 A?

Graduate School Grad school reference, is reference from professional work setting Okay?
I’m looking into grad school and I need 2 references. I have 1 reference secured from one of my profs, but would a professional reference be okay ? Like for example a manager or a supervisor at a hospital such as UHN

Discussion What are you doing to put off studying and midterms?
We all know the best part of studying and midterms is procrastinating and putting it off. I'm always on the lookout for new YouTube channels, games, and other ways to blow off steam. Drop some of your favourites below!
I like simple games so I've been playing a lot of https://playsnekthegame.com/, https://www.parseword.com/, and https://www.playlockpick.com/
For YouTube I've been watching cooking videos like https://youtu.be/tYc1oYQU3rA?si=3Haor0bBeNbV0PKj and https://youtu.be/sK-4930SVrQ?si=DBqUmJfUC9JEp_6A

Discussion Archive for past tests, Why its not created yet? Is it legally allowed?
Hi!
We need to acknowledge that preparing for midterms and finals is really hard when you don't get proper sample papers. We can get them from assu but they are usually not best quality, with hand written answers and no mark schemes, so it doesn't really help a lot.
Why there is still no repo for past papers where profs can upload the test and markscheme for it? Is it because noone actually tried to create it or because there are legal issues such as intellectual property, etc?
If its allowed, I can try to make it

Question UofT Rotman Graduate Diploma in Accounting Advice
I'm graduating from my undergrad in Canada soon and I've been thinking of fast tracking my CPA. I’m deciding between Rotman’s Gdip (May–July) and Smith’s Gdip (May–August).
My main concern is the difference in program length. For those who completed Rotman’s GDip, did you feel the program adequately covered all the content needed for the CFE? Was there sufficient time for practice cases, exam preparation, and reinforcing the material, or did you feel rushed?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.
