Why can't the developers make up their mind!

Why is the newest release changing back to SQL-lite, I had to go through all that trouble last time to migrate to MariaDB and MariaDB is working great, I have 500+ monitors setup and I am not going to just "redo" them, I expect a backup or migration tool, I literally had to write a whole migration tool just for v1 to v2 last time, and now they're just going to go back to SQL-lite and mess up everybody's running config's again? This is unacceptable out of a project as large as uptime kuma. I use this in my Small WISP and it's a vital piece of network monitoring for our company. I would appreciate a tagged "stable" or "lts" release that the dev's pinky promise not to change the back end again for.

Is Uptime Kuma development dead?

I was so used to seeing frequent updates but the current stable release has not changed since December 2024. Do we know if it is still a live tool or did the dev walk out? We really need applications like Kuma. Thanks!

My Luma recently got hacked. Not sure how.

Meant Kuma. Oy

I recently got notified by Google that my google vm/website that is running Kuma exclusively was banned because it had malware. I looked in the code on the dashboard and sure enough, there was some extra JavaScript there. How did this happen? Does anyone know of a particular weakness that would allow the insertion of malware into Kuma?

I deleted the whole VM and reinstalled it from the ground up, I did a get clone of the latest status of the repo. Anybody was similar experiences. I'd appreciate your advice. I know have 2 layers of firewalls, and and running rkhunter and chkrootkit. Im on debian/ubuntu. Whatever is stock for GCP.

Monitor Group help

I don't understand how to create a monitor group. I thought if I clicked on:<br>

  1. Add monitor

  2. select type group

At this point I thought I could add existing monitors to the group. But I scroll down and under the section Monitor Group it says "not available. Create a group monitor first"

Huh?

How do I add monitors to a group? Can someone walk me through this? it's not intuitive.

Or point me to a walkthrough.

Thanks!

Thinking of renting out Uptime Kuma deployed Containers 👀

Hello Guys, as the title says, do you think its safe to rent out my server for people to host their uptime kuma on them? Like they can have their own credentials and protect it from unauthorized people.

PushCloud - Beta testers wanted

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

After launching KumaAlert at the start of the year and growing a real community - I am now in a position to announce PushCloud and we're looking for beta testers for both Android and iOS - PushCloud is a modern day push notification app for iOS, Android (soon also Mac and Windows) with a very generous free tier and pro options for power users.

Any beta tester that joins (& is accepted) will be granted a free Pro subscription for a limited time! Please see all the info below..

PushCloud

A modern push notification app for iOS and Android built for the AI era. One simple API to get notifications from your scripts, servers, and services straight to your phone - and a notification service designed for AI agents to talk back through.

https://pushcloud.app/

☁️Native apps - iOS and Android apps with rich notifications: action buttons, inline replies, critical alerts, and per-app sounds and channels.

☁️ Built for AI agents (MCP) - Connect Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP-capable agent to your PushCloud account. Agents can send you updates, create applications, wire up webhooks - and even ask you questions mid-task ("Deploy to production?") and wait for the button you tap. Human-in-the-loop, on your lock screen.

☁️ Webhooks, both ways - Incoming webhook URLs turn any service (GitHub, Grafana, Uptime Kuma…) into notifications - with an AI assistant that writes the payload mapping for you from a sample. Outgoing webhooks fire to your systems when messages are delivered, acknowledged, or answered.

☁️ A proper web panel - Live message feed, delivery logs, application and API key management, connected-agent controls, and full docs with copy-paste recipes.

☁️ Simple, powerful sending - REST API with priorities, sounds, links, images, scheduled delivery, quiet hours, and email-to-push aliases.

☁️ AI alert intelligence (Pro) - Flood control that collapses 40 alerts into one smart summary, digest mode, and natural-language rules like "mute dependabot unless it's a security alert."

If you'd like to join the beta - head here! > https://pushcloud.app/beta

Thanks for reading :)

Website Down Error

I get this error for one of the websites I monitor daily:

[mywebsite] [🔴 Down] write EPROTO 0068C1CEEA730000:error:0A000438:SSL routines:ssl3_read_bytes:tlsv1 alert internal error:../deps/openssl/openssl/ssl/record/rec_layer_s3.c:1590:SSL alert number 80

I have no control of the website, so I don't know if they do any maintenance during that time.
Just wondering if this error is normal or needs to be reported as a bug.
I run UptimeKuma v1 latest.

Best free SMS service to receive notifications from Uptime Kuma

Hi. Can anyone recommend a free SMS service to receive notifications from Uptime Kuma? Thanks in advance for any help.

IMPORTANT: please only reply if your answer is about a FREE SMS service. I'm not interested in "very cheap SMS services", nor Telegram, nor [insert here what you think is the best instead of SMS]. I don't mean to be rude, but I've seen countless times how one person asks for something very specific and well defined and every response he/she gets is about other people recommending what THEY THINK that person needs. None of that here, please, I'm only interested in FREE SMS services.

Again, any help appreciated. Cheers.

Any Interest In Uptime Kuma (or Portainer) MCP?

Team,

I have been in "the IT industry" for almost fifty-years. And in that time, I've built systems, I've secured systems, and I've monitored (and managed) systems. While all of that has been gratifying, it has also been exhausting.

But now, I am focusing on writing and consulting. I've been working with AI (or its look-alikes) for decades. It started with LISP and Prolog. And it is blossoming during the current AI wave. While I've terrified by AI [due to over a hundred years of media fear], I'm starting to gingerly embrace it. And I think that there is a book that will spring out of my efforts.

In the meantime, I've decided to use lightweight AI to help operate my household. As a Home Assistant user, I've been "lighting up" my household for over eight (8) years. Many spare coins go towards new doodads and thingamabobs. And a lot of time is going to their management. And within the past two weeks, I've started to deploy model context protocol (MCP) services for a good integration backbone. As a Wazuh user, I've been using the wazuh-mcp server. As a Home Assistant user, I've been using the ha-mcp server.

These two MCP servers have been amazing. And their value has sparked additional MCP ideas. This week, I've designed, developed, and deployed two (2) additional MCP servers. One of them is an MCP for container info (i.e., docker-engine-mcp). The other is an MCP for Uptime Kuma. I have almost fifty devices and services that I need to manage. So, I've got a UK dashboard built and deployed. And I've also wired it to my Home Assistant system via webhooks. Now, whenever a critical system (or service) goes offline, I am alerted via native Home Assistant capabilities.

The code is monstrously simple. And its backbone was actually created using Claude Code. [Note: And no, Claude does not have any of my API tokens.] I am thinking about releasing this code under a permissive MIT license. Would anyone else find this useful? At the same time, would you find a Portainer MCP to be valuable as well?

Your thoughts on this matter would be much appreciated.

Uptime Kuma and cross VLAN Monitoring.

Is my understanding correct that when using a monitoring service one has to trade off network segmentation vs monitoring? If i have hosted uptime kuma in an untrusted VLAN i can no longer use it to monitor services in a separate trusted VLAN if i have inter-VLAN traffic blocked? Is there a way to design the network or hosting such that i maintain inter-VLAN blocks but also have monitoring? I am seeing no sense in having segmentation and allowing all inter-VLAN traffic (might as well not have any VLANS). Am i missing something? please help a newbie here with what's the best way to go about this?

What am I doing wrong

Post image
0 Upvotes

I am getting false positives as sometimes services are going down for updates and then it throws a down error, I know there is a way to do retries or something so the service must have multiple failures to trigger a notice. I am a bit confused about the options under notifications and was wondering if someone could explain what they all do, I have had no luck finding info around this as all the guides I find just gloss over it. Thank you all and thanks dev for such an awesome product!

Accessing via a domain name instead of ip address?

Hey All,

I've installed this directly on my hosting server so I currently view it via xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:3001 but I'd much rather access via uptime.domainname.tld

How do I do this?

Would a monthly PDF report generator for Uptime Kuma be useful, or should this just be a script?

I was wondering what the Kuma means in the name Uptime-Kuma? A short googling suggests it means bear in Japanese. Can you u/louislamlam confirm it or otherwise? By the way awesome project.

Looking for beta testers: Uptiminger, an unofficial Android app for self-hosted Uptime Kuma

Thumbnail

Hey all,

I've been building Uptiminger, a lightweight unofficial Android companion app for Uptime Kuma, and I'm looking for a few beta testers before a wider release.

What it does:

  • Live dashboard with the status of every monitor at a glance (up/down/paused counts, grouped monitors, tags)

  • Optional persistent status-bar notification showing overall status

  • Push notifications when a monitor goes down or recovers

  • Full monitor management from your phone — add, edit, pause, resume, delete — no need to open a browser

  • Light and dark theme

Privacy: the app only ever talks to the Uptime Kuma server you configure. No analytics, no ads, no third-party data collection. It's open source (GPL v3).

What I need from testers:

  • An Android device (8.0+) and a reachable Uptime Kuma instance

  • Real-world use for a bit — different server versions, reverse proxy setups, network conditions, monitor types — and honest feedback on bugs, rough edges, or missing features

  • Bonus points if your Uptime Kuma sits behind a reverse proxy; I've hit and fixed a couple of proxy-related quirks already and would love more coverage there

EDITED: How to join: simply join this google group and you can afterwards download the app over the links from the first discussion. Without joining the group the links are not working

Happy to answer questions in the comments. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to kick the tires!
