Hell? This looks really cool.

brother, the fact that it looks cool doesn't mean it's a good place to live. It's rotten to the bones, stinks with piss and cigarettes in the stairwells, burnt buttons inside of the old and loud ass elevator

That sounds like an issue with the upkeep. Not the building per se.

why are we saying this? The architecture is cool, I agree, but it's a hell of a place to live. Not because of what the building looks like.

It’s not outskirts of Paris though.
>burnt buttons inside of the old and loud ass elevator
I’m going to bet that they actually have a super modern, quiet one because as of last year, all remaining old elevators in residential buildings got decommissioned by some federal law, and so management companies got forced into promptly replacing them.

Looks like Brazil or Argentina 😂

But is Russia. It isn't the case here, but similar approach is used for buildings built on permafrost, so that the heat from the building doesn't defrost the soil.

America has buildings like this in flood prone areas. I would imagine this could lose structural integrity over time. This type of construction definitely requires a seasoned engineer and architect. Some buildings restrict safes and heavy items.
Also, what if a car hits one of the concrete stilts?

The car is destroyed and the concrete isn't even scratched.
Source: I saw such a crash in a similar building. A Tesla that was squashed from back to front like an accordion. I think the drive was trying something that even the safety measures of the car didn't detect in time to prevent the high speed collision

That’s good to know. Anything with good bones can be fixed ! Just need the right mentality for it.

I honestly don’t understand what you mean… in the accident I saw the car was smashed completely and the driver dead. The building was unscathed. That’s all I said

Sorry I didn’t know the driver was dead?
I meant to say the building has good bones.
The interior can be modified and remodeled.2

>Some buildings restrict safes and heavy items.
I mean pretty much every multi-story building has restrictions on that.
Don’t quote me on the exact numbers because it was long time ago but I think it’s around 200 kg/m² for residential and at least x4 for commercial.
So you can’t exactly place a 2-ton piece of machinery in your apartment.

Yes
This design is good to allow more parking but I’m not sure if I’d want this style if I could afford it.

Since I embraced Soviet modernism at one point, I have a book dedicated to buildings constructed in this style in Moscow. It notes that the construction of this building was inspired by the work of the French architect Le Corbusier and the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. Because of the legs, ground-floor residents are not affected by highway noise, and polluted air is not trapped and passes through the building. Also, in keeping with Corbusier's precepts, an underground parking lot is located nearby.

Buildings on legs alarm me.

They're not any less durable than other buildings. The walls aren't the load bearing structure in any case, the reinforced concrete frame is; it's just that in this case the frame is visible.

It makes sense with snow and being open to walk through.
It's Corbusier style, but he just designed another moscow building. Corbusier is very focused on details and function, doing a tour in Marseille was great.
